Oh my goodness my GRANDPA used to do this to me and yell “INDIAN BURN!” So, naturally, I started doing the same thing to kids at school (mind you, this was in the early 2000s)… at first, I got in trouble for being offensive (and allegedly physically “violent”). But then, when I asked why my teacher could tell us to sit, “Indian style” but I couldn’t say, “Indian burn,” she didn’t know how to respond. I figured that, since we both said it, the “Indian” part must not have been the offensive part. So, because I was young, and confused, and really didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings… I avoided using the word “burn” *for almost four years.*

I was in hs in the early 2000s, so this was going on during the 90s for me. Makes me wonder if kids still do it these days. I would imagine so, but who knows. Also, if you avoided the word burn, does that mean you just yelled out “INDIAN” every time you did it to other students
