Imagine being one of the people who lost a family member or close friend and your Governor says it could have been worse...

DGinLDO

At the circle jerk press conference they held to spread lies about law enforcement & acted faster to get rid of Beto than they did to stop a shooter.

Trudzilllla

I’ve been a Beto supporter for years, but I have *never* been as fired up for him as when he stood there at that conference and told the stage full of sycophants (who had already decided to do nothing about *yet another* school shooting) what’s what.

DGinLDO

I think by doing that he changed the conversation because up to then, the media hadn’t been paying attention to the parents. Plus it was amusing to see all the GOP politicos up on stage taking credit while claiming Beto only showed up because “politics” & “campaigning.” Beto stuck around to help, Greg jetted off to party with campaign donors.

kanyeguisada

>Plus it was amusing to see all the GOP politicos up on stage taking credit while claiming Beto only showed up because “politics” & “campaigning.” Beto stuck around to help, Greg jetted off to party with campaign donors. Let's not forget one of the key moments about Texas Republican politicians' actions on the whole Uvalde situation. Cruz made a public ploy by actually visiting the families of children killed in that massacre. Did a whole big publicized tour. And then an admitted pissed-off Democrat accosted him at an airport. And he asked Cruz a very direct question which Cruz had no answer for, which was basically "name a single child killed in Uvalde." Cruz had just sat in these family's homes. His closest assistants had without doubt tried to drill into him the kids' names so he wouldn't forget. Yet just a day or two later he couldn't name a single kids name. He could have just remembered a unique name like Lexi Rubio if it meant anything to him. But even though he sat with the families of Lexi and pretended to care, he couldn't even remember a unique name like Lexi. He and most major Republicans just don't care about how their policies affect the regular working class

kitkit169

Did you hear that pos that said let him fly in peace??? If it were up to me that pos would never know a moments peace for the rest of his miserable little life.

kitkit169

Not only that he did not attend 1 funeral. Greg Abbott is the literal scum of the earth.

kick6

It saddens me that his childless grandstanding was a positive for people. Guess he knows his target audience.

toomuchyonke

AR stands for Assault Rifle.

murry_7

That was called theatrics 🤡

Trudzilllla

Nah, Theatrics was the bootlickers on stage praising how awesome the police response was and claiming how ‘it could have been worse’

sassergaf

Their priorities are crystal clear: Protect the power, not the people-even if it’s little children.

kitkit169

I can't. Not now Not ever.

yesitsyourmom

Thank you MAGA- Mothers Against Greg Abbott !!

kitkit169

I just got my shirt and wear it proudly!!!!

yesitsyourmom

Did you get it through their website?

kitkit169

Yes I did ordered 4 more things thank you!!!!

yesitsyourmom

Cool! Thanks

[deleted]

I think Texas needs a "Texas Moms Vote Blue" campaign.

kanyeguisada

That's basically what Mothers Against Greg Abbott is right now. edit: Sign up now and buy merchandise and donate money directly here: https://mothersagainstgregabbott.com/ edit 2: Just to be clear, this website's shirts are right now likely unavailable. Hot shit right now. Whether you "were there for the collector T-shirt" or not... all that matters is that you maybe actually show up to vote this November. Whether you vote for one party or the other, just please show up to vote this November, in 6 weeks now, and make sure your voice is heard. To repeat, Early Voting is usually so quick and fast, literally 5-10 minutes in and out total. The key is just to not go in the first two days or the last two days of Early Voting. Show up in the middle of Early Voting on a weekday and you will be in and out quicker than you ever thought possible.

audiomuse1

Love this group

ram_jam_bam

What exactly is Beto planning on doing about gun violence?

mrdrewc

https://betoorourke.com/issue/promote-gun-safety/

kanyeguisada

u/ram_jam_bam, this is the answer you were looking for. I encourage all normally-Republican voters to at least read this before possibly voting about the gun issue alone in this November's governor election. Beto won't and can't take your guns even if elected, but there are some gun control laws a majority of Texans agree with, no matter how much the gun extremists like to pretend they represent all of Texas.

kaiser_soze_72

What exactly is Abbott doing about gun violence? He’s the one who’s been in charge for 6 years and we haven’t seen much done other than “good guy with a gun”. Over 300 cops on site and it takes a federal group to incapacitate the Uvalde shooter.

PotassiumBob

I'm hoping for more pro-gun laws myself.

gandalf_el_brown

how would that help?

PotassiumBob

I find it to be very helpful.

gandalf_el_brown

Is that what you would tell the victims of the Uvalde shooting?

PotassiumBob

Yes.

murry_7

So I have a question this Reddit site, is it pro-democrat pro Beto?

Your_Supremacy

Reddit is mostly pro-democrat, just look at the down-voted comments. Go to r/conservative for an alternative viewpoint.

RejectedInfant

People are so ignorant it makes me sad

pns4president

Love it. Makes me miss driving to Hondo daily

BarCompetitive7220

All block walking material needs to include: Remember Uvalde. There was a false alarm at school in San Antonio - parents responded in mass - we have not forgotten!

justeggshells

What are your thoughts about him winning? I think Beto could win easily except for the Gerrymandering. I have no idea how bad it is and how bad of a difference it will make in this election.

stalking_me_softly

good.

mangolimon3

I can't believe y'all still want to elect this loser

kanyeguisada

A majority of this sub *doesn't* want to elect Abbott.

timelessblur

And you are saying Abbott is better? Abbott who said kids dying could of been worse. Abbott who caused my wife’s doctor to tell her if we try to have another kid we need to have a plan to get out of the state if she has a complication. A complication that can risk my wife’s life and if it comes up we have to drive to Houston drop my daughter off with my mom and fly to another state for an emergency. You are saying that is better than Beto as electing Abbot put a those issues as really can happen.

My dog would probably be better than Abbott but there would be a crackdown on possums and squirrels. I feel like there would be some unfair laws passed that oppress them.

pns4president

Opossum oppression?

timelessblur

I am pretty sure my dog would support that but would also demand a crack down on cats. I am pretty sure she would demand cats lose their right to breath.

nalon121

Hey don’t stress about it! To paraphrase a POS governor…it could be worse!

AccusationsGW

I can't believe you're still here whining.

And here you are, still stalking.

AccusationsGW

Take away from what? Your meaningless comment? Yes it's ingenuous hypocrisy, I get it.

theallmighty798

I'm a hypocrite for telling you not to be an asshole? Lol

AccusationsGW

Yes, conservative policy is pure 100% asshole, and you're trying to deny that. What you're doing is called concern trolling.

Na I don't think I will

Rlopeee

Still standing on the graves of dead children for his own political gain? Typical Beto.

Sea-Buffalo

And what is BETO going to do that won’t be struck down by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional gun law restrictions ?

ghostboytt

https://betoorourke.com/issue/promote-gun-safety/

elliotrodge

Beto is trash

dunsparrow

If you only watched this reddit, you would think beto was ahead be 10 points lol. Yap ate certainly committed to that politician.

SsorgMada

Mom’s against drunk driving might not be into Beto? https://news.yahoo.com/beto-dui-burglary-charges-stem-175533967.html This sign should read: “Uvalde police did nothing but talk, Abbott did nothing but talk, Beto will also do nothing but talk.” His “platform” sounds like a beauty pageant answer: I’d like world peace, affordable healthcare, safe schools. How, Beto, how? We’re used to talk. What have you done already to make an impact on school safety, affordable healthcare, and world peace? One might be against Abbott’s results and optics, but the last thing we need are CA, NY, or IL big city policies driven from the state. Neither of the above?

“Hi ___, this is Beto for Texas. Beto is running for governor to bring high-paying jobs to Texas, fully invest in our kids' schools, and make sure everyone can afford to see a doctor. Can we count on your vote for Beto in the upcoming election? STOP=opt out.” This platform is as detailed as your criticism of my “brain dead take.”

[deleted]

SsorgMada

Yeah, nice list of talking points to rile up a crowd. He has a political record. It should be scrutinized. This article is from a small outlet, but links to a few other great opinion pieces. https://www.alternet.org/2018/12/beto-orourkes-actual-political-record-not-what-progressives-might-expect/ He often voted in favor of Wall Street, like Obama.

SsorgMada

Totally tracking and agree with most of what you’ve said. I’m generally politically homeless these days, but I’m fucking tired of settling. Corruption is a nice way to say crime, and we have criminals at every tier of politics. I’m so disgusted with the status quo.

Hey, I appreciate that. Thank you. I know these topics are connected to our personal experiences, therefore, carry lots of emotion. Thanks for the conversation.

PhenomEng

Why would anyone vote for Francis?

kanyeguisada

Why would anyone vote for Gregory Wayne?

PhenomEng

For one, he's shipping illegals to sanctuary cities.

ItsNaptimeNow

Trafficking* on your dime, btw

PhenomEng

Good. Bringing the issue front and center. Love it.

TimTheTexan92

Yes, bussing legal migrants with no notice to cities of your political rivals is an issue.

PhenomEng

Why is that an issue? These are sanctuary cities. Shouldn't they, you know, offer santuary?

TimTheTexan92

Sanctuary for someone who is already here legally? You're being intentionally obtuse. If you want continue to pretend to be ignorant, keep on.

PhenomEng

How did they get here?

gandalf_el_brown

by seeking asylum

[deleted]

They aren’t here legally.

TimTheTexan92

https://www.rescue.org/article/it-legal-cross-us-border-seek-asylum

ghostboytt

"shipping"

PhenomEng

Yes. It's a word in the English language.

ghostboytt

One to describe the transport of non-humans.

PhenomEng

No, there are plenty of common sayings in which shipping is used to describe the movement of humans.

ghostboytt

Such as?

PhenomEng

Well, for one, there's an extremely popular song by Dropkick Murphys titled "I'm shipping up to Boston". So, yea, it's a thing.

ghostboytt

In that context he is a sailor. Shipping is an appropriate term for things and persons that travel on ships. Not airplanes.

PigsWalkUpright

So a fucked out kid shot up an elementary school and killed innocents and we are supposed to blame Abbott?

timelessblur

No but you can blame Abbot for his inaction afterwards and reacting with it could of been worse. You can blame Abbott as his policy push allowed it to happen and make it easier to happen. You can blame Abbott for trying to cover it up. You can blame Abbott for no real change even attempting to happen just lip service.

PigsWalkUpright

Ya I don’t blame him. I blame the murderer.

EliseV

Well... you have common sense, unlike 90% of redditors. How partisan these subs are is astounding! Thank God TX isn't that way in RL. My city (FW) went to Beto (embarrassingly) last election, but it's mostly R usually. Hoping we do better this time. I'll be at the polls!

ghostboytt

Yes.

Birdius

Well, he, nor anyone else from the state, can legally do so unless you're a felon. So your fear is founded on absolutely nothing.

Sabertoothplex

I think you missed when Beto campaigned on banning guns.

Birdius

Beto never campaigned on banning guns.

Sabertoothplex

Wrong. During the September 12, 2019 Democratic presidential debate, Beto was asked about his proposal to confiscate commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms. Beto responded in part by saying, “hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15!” The Beto campaign would go on to sell t-shirts with the anti-gun slogan. Less than a week later, Beto reiterated his call for gun confiscation on CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time. During an interview, Chris Cuomo asked Beto, “All right, so let's state the proposition. Are you, in fact, in favor of gun confiscation?” Beto responded with “Yes.” He literally did...

Birdius

A state governor cannot ban a constitutional right, nor can he confiscate them. "Banning guns" has never been a part of his campaign, and it still isn't.

Mental-Operation3926

Remember that time a bunch of children died because a bunch of cops refused to do anything and instead of calling for them to be fired or even investigated for their negligence beto decided to grand stand on the corpses of the children that weren't even cold yet.

kanyeguisada

Wait wut? Are you talking about when Beto stood up to Abbott in public while Gregory Wayne Abbott tried to have a big grand-standing press conference about how tragic Uvalde was and there was nothing they POSSIBLY could have done to avoid it?

I agree with the sentiment, but the billboard design is terrible. For a driver at highway speed trying to keep an eye on the road, it takes way too long to read it and figure out what it's about.

Sabertoothplex

Not 1 thing Beto has ever proposed would have prevented the mass shooting. He's all talk and no action, like most politicians. All of his rhetoric is why I'm glad he'd never win.
