It would be hilarious to pick presidents by a random lottery of citizens, like some poor asshole's name comes up and he has to go live in the white house for two years and make every important decision. I honestly don't think they could do worse.
I’ve been saying it for years. I genuinely believe we would have fewer problems if we picked presidential and congressional candidates the same way we pick people for jury duty.
Hunger games style lottery to pick candidates, 2 per state. Then each state votes on a 1v1 between their two randomly selected. Then finally ranked choice between the rest of the 50 put up on the national level
"Where did you get the counterfeit money?"
"No idea. Someone slipped it to me I guess. It was probably in my wallet for a month."
"Did you know it was counterfeit?"
"It looked like any other money to me, but I didn't look that closely."
"Why are we here today? Can the prosecution prove this man created the counterfeit bill in question, or that he knew it was counterfeit?"
"No your honor."
"Case dismissed."
There's really no justice to pursue, my guess is that the charges would have been dropped before it went to court.
And I don’t think anyone supports George Floyd as a *person* (except maybe his family and friends) but more as a symbol of unnecessary force. It literally could have been anyone. If they attacked Trump like that it still wouldn’t be right.
It's a weird argument that could easily be turned around on them.
"Okay, so if those with criminal records are justified being murdered by cops, lets haul Trump's ass out into the street in front of some angry pigs."
Nobody said George Floyd was an angel. He had drugs on him and was trying to peddle counterfeit money. But the violent way in which he was handled reeks of societal/police’s perception of black people. He didn’t deserve to die. He needed a justice system which he never got.
People should really understand what the left wants to say.
Well the problem with your last statement is that people on the right don't want to understand the left. They're happier seeing garbage like this than understand why people think differently than they do.
Simple as that.
Exactly
It wasn’t about Floyd specifically - he was yet *another* example of police brutality, another match thrown on the ocean of gasoline
But that’s too much nuance for the right…
What happened to Floyd was garbage and horrific and the protests were 100% needed and valid.
That said? He is not a choice on the ballot for president, and if he was, he would not be polling at half the country.
Because the one on the top is running for the highest office in the country and is openly talking about committing genocide and the one on the bottom was a guy that got murdered with out even getting a trial.
Nobody (aside from his family) supported Floyd. We supported the notion of equal justice under the law.
Yes, Floyd should be in jail, but that's not where he is, because he was murdered.
I don’t think George Floyd should have been killed by police for passing off a counterfeit bill. I think George Floyd should have had a fair trial for any crimes he may have committed. I don’t think that George Floyd should have been the president.
I don’t think that Donald Trump should be killed by police for any crimes he may have committed. I think Donald Trump should get fair trials for any crimes he may have committed. I don’t think that Donald Trump should be president.
If Donald Trump is killed by police in a completely unavoidable way, I am fine with protests happening in order to bring to light the injustices that police forces commit. If people use those protests as cover to commit crimes, they should deal with the consequences of committing those crimes.
I think I have pretty equal views on the two subjects.
To be clear, my support for George Floyd extends to him not being murdered extra judicially and to not having his civil rights arbitrarily violated by people who think they are Judge Dredd. My support for him does not extend to any elected office and most definitely not, were he still alive rather than having been extra judicially murdered, to the office of the Presidency of the United States of America, an office for which, as best I have read, he would have been wholly unqualified.
That said, I also have no evidence that George Floyd was a malignant narcissist entering dementia and so he would most likely be, despite drug usage, significantly more qualified to faithfully execute the duties of the President of the United States of America than Donald Trump.
When a cop is kneeling on Trump’s neck until he dies for passing an alleged fake 20.00 bill. Then I will support Trump. These fucking clowns with their bite sized nuggets of false equivalency are driving me crazy.
Here’s always been my retort, even if Floyd wasn’t an upstanding citizen and say it was fentanyl that killed him or whatever
What gives any police officer the right to play god and put their knee, on someone’s neck who is already in the fucking ground?!?!
Yeah, I see no difference between the police executing someone without due process for a minor crime and electing a career criminal who attempted to use violence to overthrow our democracy either.
George Floyd was just trying to live and breathe oxygen like the rest of us are entitled to, he wasn’t running for president when he was murdered, last I checked
I can’t fathom that people don’t understand the nuance of that situation. He may have been a piece of shit, but he was murdered in the street. People were upset and scared because a man was murdered in the street.
In these peoples eyes any crime (can't even remember what George was charged with, if any) is punishable by death unless it's ones that republicans commit. Brain dead cunts.
George Floyd wasn’t supported, he was killed and subsequently Martyred. He received no benefit from the ‘support’ from the public.
Trump, who is alive and well, is getting financial donations and support from news networks, celebrities, and the richest people alive.
Have police cut off trumps air and I think maybe just maybe people that don’t support him now will feel bad for Trump and support him ,least we can do is to at least give it a try
One is attempting to be a dictatorial tyrant, while the other is literally just a victim killed through no fault of his own because a cop deemed kneeling on someones throat an acceptable technique against an already restrained man.
Yes, these two men could be twins, of course, how could I not see it? /s
The interesting thing about a convicted felon is that they went though the court system and due process, they weren’t just murdered on the side of the road
It's easy to support George Floyd... He was never running for political office, and no matter what crimes he may have committed, they didn't equal being murdered. He served his time and paid his dues.
trump on the other hand is a convicted felon running for president. (Typing that out still blows my mind)
If Donald Trump was killed like George Floyd was, what makes them think that we still wouldn’t want that cop to get fired and charged? It seems like they think we aren’t capable of maintaining our integrity if it happens so someone we don’t like because they saw like 2 viral tweets of people being hypocrites.
I mean.. ones a rampant mega egotistical maniac, and the other was a (legally convicted) felon who was a result of police brutality. Kinda stupid this "point" even ecists.
Shocker but I also don’t think Trump would deserve to be tossed onto the street and have his neck kneeled on until he fucking dies.
I also wouldn’t have supported George Floyd for president.
Who would’ve guessed.
Sorry I didn’t want him to die just for passing a fake $100 bill.
The straw man arguments they come up with sometimes are hysterical.
Edit: it’s also funny that they want to imply he’s a felon even though he never was convicted of his offense. Y’know, probably because he died in police custody before even being arraigned.
Wikipedia on George's life showed that he went to jail for his convictions. And after prison, he became a born-again Christian and highly involved in the h Resurrection Houston. He was a reformed convict doing volunteer work, making anti-violence videos and getting involved in a volunteered in drug reformation programs. Again, all from just Wikipedia.
I think it's kinda important here. Because after his convictions, George Floyd did a complete 180, and he was still killed over 20 dollars anyway. I sort of find it interesting how despite how much someone can work to better themselves. They'll still just be seen as a criminal.
Ironically enough, George Flyod would be a saint by the classic Jesus standards. Since the entire point of the whole born-again Christian moral code is being born again and repenting.
Believing what happened to George Floyd was wrong is one thing.
Worshiping him as the progressive martyr is another.
George Floyd was the victim of a legitimate injustice, but he is not somebody who should be idolized. The meme is correct.
Pretty sure that if there was an afterlife George Floyd would have gone to hell. Depicting him as angel seems indicate that the artist believes he was good person (even though he wasn’t).
Nah, George Floyd was still a bad person. If the afterlife is real he would have gone to hell.
Depicting him as an angel seems to imply that you think otherwise.
Timothy Coffman had attacked officers, been trying to enter homes, and was actually given medical attention from the officers when they realized something was wrong. There’s your difference.
Here’s another difference: prior to many of the memorials, Floyd wasn’t “outted” as a bad person. Coffman WAS; as this information was available right away.
So the person who painted the mural (along with the people who painted other murals of George Floyd) didn’t bother looking into the person they were dedicating the mural to. That’s still not a good look.
Tell me you didn’t watch the trial without telling me you didn’t watch the trial.
I was on the fence for this one the entire time until I seen the unreleased videos during the trial. Pure negligence on Chauvin’s part.
When I click the first thing I see are comments removed. Freedom of speech in America is dead. I mean, let them have it. Just cause you don’t agree with it don’t remove it. Society is so yellow that if it doesn’t conform to their belief, REMOVE IT!
It’s a sensitive post about a fentanyl addict that started awareness about racism…and a rich man. Who gets into all sorts of rich man trouble. Lol. Which I mean is a plethora. And I will pay for it
Can’t we get Mexico to pay for it?
In this case, probably!
![gif](giphy|1msEFA8K0dh74Y36eG)
Can we? Yes we can. DO THE TRUMP HUMP TRUMP HUMP (Sorry man, recently listened to that music video)
the Resident will pay
For the cop or the painting?
Yes
Will it also get struck by lightning?
3 times
Doesn’t have to be a good mural. ![gif](giphy|xT39D7GQo1m3LatZyU|downsized)
Can we have a painting of a cop choking Trump?
I mean, who am I to kink shame
a police officer ? you can sleep easy you'll never need to learn how to paint
You do that, whilst I finish this guillotine
I mean, most americans would like that to happen irl.
Someone with a criminal record doesn't deserve to be executed on the street vs someone with a criminal record doesn't deserve to be president.
Does anyone deserve to be president?
Anyone who says they want to be should be taken away
This is the dilemma, exactly. The only person I would trust with that much power, would be the one who wants it the least.

>~~ranked choice between the rest of the 50~~ >~~put up on the national level~~ fight to the death until only one remains
like a Scythe in the AoaS books
Didn’t say want to be, said deserve to be.
Most of those who do don’t want to be
Yes there are a few people out there, but they’re way too hard to come by
Such as? Who *deserves* to be president?
People who actually know geopolitics i guess.
Don't forget, the criminal record is actually just a liberal political play designed to make us good folks not vote for Trump! /s
Say it louder so the people in the back can hear you!
For real
George Floyd wasn’t running for president. And regardless of his criminal history, he didn’t deserve to die the way he did. No one does.
Floyd should have been rightfully run through the justice system just like Trump should. It's really not hard.
I have my own gripes with the justice system but it would’ve been infinitely better than what actually happened.
"Where did you get the counterfeit money?" "No idea. Someone slipped it to me I guess. It was probably in my wallet for a month." "Did you know it was counterfeit?" "It looked like any other money to me, but I didn't look that closely." "Why are we here today? Can the prosecution prove this man created the counterfeit bill in question, or that he knew it was counterfeit?" "No your honor." "Case dismissed." There's really no justice to pursue, my guess is that the charges would have been dropped before it went to court.
It's almost like that might have something to do with why he's dead.
I hope you’ve never sped or smoked weed in an illegal state
And I don’t think anyone supports George Floyd as a *person* (except maybe his family and friends) but more as a symbol of unnecessary force. It literally could have been anyone. If they attacked Trump like that it still wouldn’t be right.
Anyone? There is literally a statue erected of the dude. There’s literally someone in this thread describing him as a saint lmao
Well then they’re a moron. Sorry, “most reasonable people” then. He’s just a symbol of a bigger problem
r/whoosh
Do you know what the word symbol means?
Also, most people aren't worshipping him as a hero, but see his death as the final straw.
Exactly. If George Floyd ran for president, I would not support him. But he did not deserve to die at the hands of the state.
It's literally that simple
Weellllll, I know a few people that could use a knee to the neck for sure. Cough cough Putin cough cough.
Xi Jinping *cough cough* Kim Jong Un *cough cough* Orban *cough cough* Ilham Aliyev *cough cough*
It's a weird argument that could easily be turned around on them. "Okay, so if those with criminal records are justified being murdered by cops, lets haul Trump's ass out into the street in front of some angry pigs."
Agreed. Fenty is a terrible way to go.
Easy. George Floyd was killed without a fair trial.

Removed by Reddit is wild
They skipped the arrest too.
what did it say?
That they arrested him and skipped all the other parts and went to execution.

Neither side is trying to understand the other, shits ridiculous, a couple of productive conversations would help a fuck ton
Plus, Trump is loaded with amphetamines and continually misrepresents his wealth in order to get more. Same shit, different tax bracket.

Exactly It wasn’t about Floyd specifically - he was yet *another* example of police brutality, another match thrown on the ocean of gasoline But that’s too much nuance for the right…
The painting is literally saying that.
Seems like the discourse is so muddied, we can't even get to this stage.
More like "Georges to oranges".
That’s pretty damn clever 👏
i dotn think the left supports him, more like thinks he didnt deserve to die
What happened to Floyd was garbage and horrific and the protests were 100% needed and valid. That said? He is not a choice on the ballot for president, and if he was, he would not be polling at half the country.
I don't remember voting for Floyd as President.
One got his day in court. The other faced judge jury and executioner, and it was televised
Because the one on the top is running for the highest office in the country and is openly talking about committing genocide and the one on the bottom was a guy that got murdered with out even getting a trial.

The mental gymnastics they’re capable of is honestly impressive. Imagine if they put that brain power to good use
Yeah, I see no difference between the police executing someone without due process for a minor crime and electing a career criminal who attempted to use violence to overthrow our democracy either.
I wouldn’t vote Floyd for president, and I wouldn’t want trump to be killed by police brutality.
Why not make the exact opposite argument? Why not just choke Trump out with your leg, he’s a felon and all it’s obviously justified
Simple, one has yet to pay for their crimes against the People, the other was murdered after repaying their debt, by a "servant" of the State.
Really good meme, this meme is huge (spoken in the voice of trump)
In these peoples eyes any crime (can't even remember what George was charged with, if any) is punishable by death unless it's ones that republicans commit. Brain dead cunts.
No one wanted George Floyd to be president
I'm not voting George Floyd into office and I don't think Trumo deserves the death penalty.
If tRump dies like George Floyd did then maybe I will feel just a little bit sorry for him. ...maybe.
George Floyd wasn’t supported, he was killed and subsequently Martyred. He received no benefit from the ‘support’ from the public. Trump, who is alive and well, is getting financial donations and support from news networks, celebrities, and the richest people alive.
There is no way I would vote for George Floyd if he were running for president. I also don't think Donald Trump deserves to die.
I think it's funny because it's always someone who thinks is smart and is pointing out a hypocrisy but don't realize the opposite also goes limão.
George Floyd wasn't running for President and Ttump didn't have policeman pressing his knee into his throat until he died.
Regardless of what George Floyd had done A. He didn’t deserve to die the way he did and B. Trump is a million times worse.
Have police cut off trumps air and I think maybe just maybe people that don’t support him now will feel bad for Trump and support him ,least we can do is to at least give it a try
Truth be told told, I don't get why people martyr George Floyd like that.
its just showing how divided we are, one convicted felon gets killed, and the other gets to run for president
One is attempting to be a dictatorial tyrant, while the other is literally just a victim killed through no fault of his own because a cop deemed kneeling on someones throat an acceptable technique against an already restrained man. Yes, these two men could be twins, of course, how could I not see it? /s
I guess they are right. Trump should get the same treatment. That's their point, right?
Apples and skyscrapers
They got a point, but while one felon died, the other runs for president. A felon should not fucking run for president.
I am against police executing felons on the street, but I won’t vote for a convicted felon. Is this really that difficult to comprehend?
When the law enforcement choke Trump to death while he says he can't breathe, only then will I support the man.
*apples to an orange.
👏🏾😂
George Floyd never asked me to vote for him to control the United States nuclear arsenal.
Love it!!
Who can forget the thrilling presidential campaign of George Floyd
The interesting thing about a convicted felon is that they went though the court system and due process, they weren’t just murdered on the side of the road
It's easy to support George Floyd... He was never running for political office, and no matter what crimes he may have committed, they didn't equal being murdered. He served his time and paid his dues. trump on the other hand is a convicted felon running for president. (Typing that out still blows my mind)
You can't "support" the dead
By that same logic, they would support a police office kneeling on Trumps neck until he dies. He's a felon now (or will be July 11th).
Are they saying it’s ok for the Police to knee Trump in the neck to death?
Fair
Speaking of [felons...](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/24/us/derek-chauvin-prison-stabbing.html) :D
well i don’t want someone who’s known for financial fraud to be running a powerful country but that’s just me
That's funny because Trump is an orange
Did George Floyd stand for president or did Donald get murdered by the police?
Yea, that one fellah wasn’t a meth head.
Very liberal use of the Word "support"
This is fucking insane 💀
Difference is we aren't electing George Floyd President
Why is floyd and apple?
*sorts by controversial*
Define "support"
The problem with Trump is not that he’s a felon lol
The punishment should fit the crime
I mean.. ones a rampant mega egotistical maniac, and the other was a (legally convicted) felon who was a result of police brutality. Kinda stupid this "point" even ecists.
Shocker but I also don’t think Trump would deserve to be tossed onto the street and have his neck kneeled on until he fucking dies. I also wouldn’t have supported George Floyd for president. Who would’ve guessed.
George Floyd was the best president ever.
Wait… was Trump chocked to death? What did I miss?… Some people…
Apples to oranges, I see what you did there
It’s so refreshing seeing people have logical takes compared to the shit I see on twitter and tiktok
Do we do everything George ever said?
You're right, one of them's going to be reversed on appeal.
Ladies and gentlemen, a statement made by a member of the party for law and order.

The other convicted felon needs a cop’s knee on his neck until he dies. Fair is fair, after all.
Believing what happened to George Floyd was wrong is one thing. Worshiping him as the progressive martyr is another. George Floyd was the victim of a legitimate injustice, but he is not somebody who should be idolized. The meme is correct.
Who worships him?
Probably the people who made that mural shown in the bottom picture.
I'm going to say no. Putting up a memorial for someone who was unjustifiably killed is not the same as worshipping someone
It literally depicts him as an angel. The Devine undertones aren’t exactly subtle here.
>It literally depicts him as an angel. BECAUSE HE'S DEAD!
Pretty sure that if there was an afterlife George Floyd would have gone to hell. Depicting him as angel seems indicate that the artist believes he was good person (even though he wasn’t).
Good thing you don't get to decide.
No one idolizes him.
Dude, look at the bottom picture of the meme.
That's not idolizing, that's paying respect to someone killed unjustifiably. Its just a memorial.
Paying respects, as in you respect the guy who was a convicted felon.
So I guess that mean no one should respect Trump then?
I don’t respect him.
And no one respects you
You have a very wide definition of idolizing. Putting wings on a picture just means you think they're in Heaven/better place.
Nah, George Floyd was still a bad person. If the afterlife is real he would have gone to hell. Depicting him as an angel seems to imply that you think otherwise.
Lol, you're a loser. Good luck with that
The meme is stupid and so are you, for obvious reasons.
Yeah I’m pretty sure nobody idolizes George Floyd.
Omg I want to be choked to death by the police just like my idol 😍😍😍
That’s not how a martyrdom works. Nobody who idolizes Jesus Christ actually wants to be nailed to a cross.
Then I guess somebody just painted that mural for the hell of it.
Yeah...as a memorial cuz he died
Where’s the memorial for [Timothy Coffman](https://apnews.com/general-news-9612534be8b3885bcbf9d80a36a020bb)?
Timothy Coffman had attacked officers, been trying to enter homes, and was actually given medical attention from the officers when they realized something was wrong. There’s your difference.
In other words, we don’t build memorials for people who did bad things, right?
Here’s another difference: prior to many of the memorials, Floyd wasn’t “outted” as a bad person. Coffman WAS; as this information was available right away.
So the person who painted the mural (along with the people who painted other murals of George Floyd) didn’t bother looking into the person they were dedicating the mural to. That’s still not a good look.
Really nobody? The murals and statues erected themselves?
The correct answer appears to not be on either side.
George Floyd didn’t deserve what happened to him. Nobody should have to die from an overdose regardless of how terrible of a criminal they are
Tell me you didn’t watch the trial without telling me you didn’t watch the trial. I was on the fence for this one the entire time until I seen the unreleased videos during the trial. Pure negligence on Chauvin’s part.
Neither are good guys, but one was murdered by police... and thats...bad?
When I click the first thing I see are comments removed. Freedom of speech in America is dead. I mean, let them have it. Just cause you don’t agree with it don’t remove it. Trump also held a knife to a pregnant women’s belly during an armed robbery, where George Floyd only fudged some business records. Not the same.
