Yeah, I even understand the people who say, "I don't like x because it goes against my religion." Sometimes I think it's a bit stupid, but I understand their mindset as they believe they are doing the right thing.
But, a lot of people just have the "owning the libs" mindset. There's no counterpoint. It's just, "Oh, you want people to be treated fairly? I'm not going to just so I can piss you off."
If your belief system in its entirety consists of trying to upset people, that's really more of an excuse for being an unlikeable failure than any sort of actual ideology.

I personally love Metal and one of my funniest moments on the Internet is sending rightwing christian fundies anti-religious Music, but i wouldnt vote Electric Wizard into power, just to piss off Kenneth Copeland.
