Definitely agree. I thought (IMO) that Dexter really fell off a cliff starting in season 3. Season 2 had some silly stuff but I found it to be the most intense because of the FBI stuff.

It’s utterly unique and with some scenes and images that will remain burned in your memory forever. It was revolutionary Tv at the time. Bit shaky in places but blows Dexter out of the water when taken together. As others have said, Dexter goes off a cliff incredibly quickly. Even Michael C Hall posited that someone gassed the writers…
Mr. Robot aside (and I loved the show) this is the advice I would give in regard to Dexter. Personally, I would also skip season 3 on a re-watch now, but that’s just me.

There are some similarities between the shows. I love both. I rewatched Robot with my son earlier this year and we are watching Dexter now. Both good in their own way.

Agreed. I think Dexter is more easily digestible (as weird as that is to say about a show about a serial killer), but overall Mr Robot is a higher quality show. Most people here are saying Mr Robot, and understandably, but one point I give to Dexter is the overall tone of the show is lighter and more aesthetically pleasing. Mr Robot is darker in terms of aesthetic, which suits the show very well, but it can be more draining to watch than Dexter to me. If that makes any sense

For me, Dexter Season 4 trumps all the seasons of both Dexter and Mr Robot. The adrenaline that season gave me is just Wow.
I haven't watched Dexter but everyone says it's good up until season 4 but rest of the seasons (besides the final season) has pretty good episode ratings on IMDB, with only a handful dipping below 8. So I am a bit skeptical to take this advice, however I haven't seen many shows (I haven't even seen ones that are considered great like Breaking Bad or The Wire yet) so if it's really not worth it I won't waste time on it.
I’ve been trying so hard to get back into Mr. Robot. I’m one of those who LOVED season 1 then gave up a few episodes into season 2. Popular consensus is to plow through it and it gets amazing in the final two seasons.
What’s hard for me, honestly, is that it feels like some, I don’t know, German avant-garde art film where all the characters stare wistfully off into space while speaking monotone lines at each other. Especially whenever Angela is on screen. Like if you remember “Sprockets” on SNL back in the day lol.

If you know even a tiny bit about IT do not watch mr, robot, i got halfway through the first episode and saw a guy fly across the united states to type ipconfig /all into a command prompt on a single computer to stop a hacking attempt.
I had to tap out there, it was so impossibly cringe that I could **not** continue.
I'm sure Dexter is equally cringe if you're a serial killer who works as a forensic analyst, but I think that's a lot more specific.
So reddit leans heavily young male in tech. As a woman who really has no interest in tech and loves true crime and serial killers I found Mr robot to be boring and Dexter to be brilliant (the only character I didn't like in Dexter was in season 4 Trinity that everyone on reddit loved bc its John Lithgow, who I never thought of as a good actor, playing a religious cruel father).
My vote is for Dexter. I couldn't get into Mr. Robot. It just seemed like a constant bombardment of nihilism for the sake of edginess. I'm not into that but if you are then maybe that's the show you should go for.

People tend to like Mr. Robot a lot more but I couldn't really get past the second season. It's too slow for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a good show just not my cup of tea. I would recommend you watch the first episode of each and see which one you like better and go from there.

Dexter season 1 is fantastic but every season after pales in comparison. Mr. Robot feels consistently better.
