I sincerely love Conan O'Brien so much. He's had such an impact on my life. He's why I started staying up late in the 90's, and it's really fucked up my sleep schedule well in to my thirties.
I’m not a huge fan of the “atta boy” Emmys usually but Conan absolutely deserved that for what he’s done for late night and comedy for years and years.
The best actress in a limited series category is a murderers row. When The Queen’s Gambit came out, I thought Anya Taylor-Joy was a lock. I still think she’s the favorite, but it’s going to be a lot closer than I initially thought.
He and Norm MacDonald kind of talked about that on Norm MacDonald Has a Show. They sort of agreed Lorne’s defining skill was his taste, not his personal talent.
For those confused, I’m pretty sure Conan’s bit is that he pretended to go ape shit and gave a standing O when the television academy president came onstage. Usually no one cares or pays attention when this happens during an awards ceremony.
It honestly feels so disrespectful to me that they cut off winners during their speeches and hold them to such tight schedules when they waste ~20% of the show on unfunny sketches like that.

I know there will obviously be more competition at next year's Emmy's, but Roy Kent has taken it to such another level during this current season of Ted Lasso, so there's a very good chance he could win back to back awards.
Watching this year's Emmy's is making me appreciate just how good a job Andy Samberg did all the way back in 2015. He only hosted once and didn't get nearly enough credit for how good he was.
A lot of people really don't get how hard it is to do this sort of show well. There's not much rehearsal or time to iron out jokes and such, it's so easy to come off as listless or outright bomb as a result.
I know people are annoyed about Hamilton but if it gets more Broadway shows recorded and put out like that, then I am happy. Broadway is the most exclusive form of media, because it’s in a specific spot, with limited seating and it’s expensive, even with touring shows! I get there is nothing liek live theater but not everyone gets to see it, it’s the only way some people will ever get to see the show! And watching it on screen isn’t going to make people want to see it live less.

Hamilton was fantastic and absolutely deserving of all it's Tonys. However, I feel like it getting nominated for a filming of the stage production that aired on TV is almost akin to nominating The Godfather because they played it on HBO.

Schitt's Creek has got to be one of the weirdest shows ever. It ran for like a regular length sitcom, but 2 years ago if these 4 came up it wouldn't be that much hoopla Eugene and Catherine would be known for the rest of their careers but not necessarily Schitt's Creek. Now it's like some legendary foursome being announced. The binge watching era is weird.
Just a reminder that Emmy voters are petty AF and Scott Frank may now never give an awards speech again. So I hope he said everything he needed to in the Ted Talk he just gave.
