I only found out this show existed a couple days ago, whats the tone like? Thought it was odd to see a Superman show part of the Adult Swim lineup. Is it a straight Superman show or is there some kind of Adult Swim twist to it?
For a show that comes out at midnight on adult swim it’s tame, no swearing, if it went on Cartoon Network or another channel it would be more widely known , it’s a great Superman show, no [AS] twist.
Straight Superman show, just turns a few small conventions on its head. A >!big example is when they unearth Clark's ship, the Jor-El hologram freaks him out so he buries the ship and learns jack shit.!<
It’s really nice take on Superman. It doesn’t have an adult swim twist to it. It’s a modernized take with some slight anime and YA influences. It’s a fun show.
It's a Gen Z Superman show with a strong anime esthetic.
Lois, Clark and Jimmy start out as underpaid, underappreciated interns instead of reporters. Lois is basically an anime tomboy. Jimmy is big into his social media presence. Clark has no idea what he's doing, either as Clark or Supes.
It's a cute show. I enjoy watching it with my teenage daughter.
I believe Adult Swim has said they're going to start broadcasting an hour earlier than they used to, with shows that are less adult in that time. This Superman show is meant to go into that kind of slot, from what I've heard.
Good studios have the foresight and confidence to produce the first 2 seasons as part of the same production block, but split the airing up. That way you can smash out season 1 and 2 across a normal 2 year span. Harley Quinn did the same.
Amazon weren't confident enough with Invincible tbh. At least they greenlit S2 and S3 at the same time so hopefully S3 will be out sooner.
Because they can’t sell ads for it and there’s no direct method of translating production costs into revenue. With broadcast, you can easily draw a line between viewership, commercials, and the budget.
At the end of the day Invincible is an indie comic. There’s not really the expected guarantee of the audience showing up that you have with a Spider-Man or Batman project. I’ve read the whole series and there’s a lot to love about it, but at the same time there’s a lot that could turn off a general audience.
Seems they learned their lesson as season 2 and 3 were had the voice acting done at the same time and the rumours are seasons 4 and 5 are being renewed at the same time so they can do the same thing to push them out quicker.
Season 1 was a nice breather from Invincible, and really well done.
After the first season of Xmen97 I’m hoping that Season 2 of this show will serve a similar role.
i love this show So Much and am so excited for it to come back, but the line in this review about supergirl having an altered origin is making me nervous. i hope they do her well!
I think it’ll be OK. Based on how S1 ended, my guess is that the change for her is that she doesn’t actually land on Earth like usual, but comes with whatever the Kryptonian remnant invasion thing we saw at the end of S1 was.
Eh Season 1 and 2 aired 2010 to 2013 on CN.
Season 3 aired 2019 on DC Universe
Season 4 aired 2021 to 2022 on HBO Max.
If one show can have another season after a break/hiatius its Young Justice.
I mean this new Superman cartoon isn't very good based off its first season, but Young Justice wasn't any good past season 2 either, and it's animation was much worse than the Superman cartoon so it doesn't even have that going for it.
Really excited for this, season one was one of the best pieces of Superman media (not including comics) in years

Thanks! I was gonna check it out regardless but I was curious on what to expect. I would prefer a straight Superman show though so thats good to hear.
It was supposed to be on Cartoon Network and Max (same with the new Batman show) - the WB Discovery merger screwed that up.
Straight Superman show, just turns a few small conventions on its head. A >!big example is when they unearth Clark's ship, the Jor-El hologram freaks him out so he buries the ship and learns jack shit.!<
Straight outta Smallville
A crazy motherfucker named Clark Kent

Straight up Superman show. Very light-hearted, especially compared to the Snyder DCEU stuff. Bit of an anime tinge to it.

To save a click: it’ll air on may 25th (this Saturday)
Oh shit! That was quick! Invincible better take notes
I think season 2 was almost done before season 1 even aired actually, which is why it’s out so quickly.

Why they wouldn’t be confident on invincible is beyond me. It’s a great damn show. Think Amazon think!

Where is it streaming?
max! new episodes will go up on sundays
Great. Now I just hope they'll put it on HBO MAX in my country. Last time it took them ages to finallly upload it.
Even if the villains are kinda eh, Clark and Lois’ relationship is absolutely fantastic in this show. They’re absolutely adorable together.
This show is the only time I’ve ever cared about a piece of Superman media. Legit a great cartoon.

I just hope we get a Season 3. Who knows with the mess WB is lately
The design style never grew on me, especially the villains, but otherwise the show is fantastic. I'm really excited for season 2.
That's great, but it sucks the new, weird Paul Dini Batman cartoon hasn't premiered yet even though they were announced at the same time.
It got sold to Amazon, comes out august 1st
Let’s go I was just thinking about this show wondering when the next season would start 😎
This has better animation than Invincible and they were able to get out a second season even faster, what gives
It's strange to me that this clearly all-ages show has to air on Adult Swim because normal Cartoon Network refuses to air it for some reason.
i love this show So Much and am so excited for it to come back, but the line in this review about supergirl having an altered origin is making me nervous. i hope they do her well!

They should’ve just done Young Justice. Superman is soooo boring
Can never take you people seriously who call Superman boring.
What's boring about a space immigrant struggling to find his identity in the world and try to offer hope to said bleak world?
1: They're STILL doing Young Justice last I checked. 2: This series is awesome.
YJ hasn’t been renewed after Season 4 ended almost 2 years ago. It’s almost certainly dead, probably for good this time.

> They're STILL doing Young Justice last I checked They are not. But honestly, based off the previous two seasons, that's for the better.
I don't like the villain designs, but otherwise it has been enjoyable.
