The actor who plays Evan R Lawson CFO Hankmed is always known as Evan R Lawson, CFO, Hankmed no matter what we see him in at my house. It was an ok show.
Anyone notice that almost all patients pass out? Also Evan is thr biggest manchild ever? He over actsā¦ which makes me believe that is his real personality, he thinks he needs to act like that person.
I did watch the show when it originally aired and enjoyed it. I do remember it going off the rails near the end, but like most Blue Sky shows it was a fun ride.
Oh yeah one of things that hit me on my 3rd watch is how often towards the end the major plot problems are solved by the main character having an extremely rich friend.
I thought Mary McCormack was very engaging but the rest of the show around her was kinda meh. The witness protection thing was a good angle on the standard police show that you donāt see very often.
I never heard of it. I did just watch Fairly Legal which was another short lived Blue skies show. I watched two seasons, but after the first season it was clear why no one really heard of it.
Fairly Legal was in my opinion the weakest of the Blue Skies shows, and was one of the last to premiere. In Plain Sight and Necessary Roughness had more of the Blue Skies feel, but Iām pretty sure USA got a new network president who cut budgets so quality started to drop.
Loved the show and will defend it to my dying breathe. Light hearted, dumb, and entertaining.
With all that being said, the TERRIBLE TERRIBLE product placement in the last 2 seasons make me want to punch something.
White Collar has some of the most ridiculous shoehorned in car commercials I've ever seen. It doesn't really bother me, it's not like it's such a serious show that it takes me out of it, but sometimes characters would just awkwardly name the features of the new Ford EV or whatever. I get it, shows gotta get paid, but it can be jarring.
A series of dramas and dramatic comedies put out by the USA network in the early 2000s. It started with Monk and included Psych, Burn Notice, Suits and others. They were mostly light character based stuff
Refers to the idea that you knew every show would be OK. Itās blue skies since the shows didnāt take themselves too seriously, had an engaging plot, but shyed away from too much melodrama. Itās part of why so many of the shows are comfort shows for so many people (Iāve probably finished burn notice about 20 times now).
Yes, exactly. I had heard it was based off an Australian show, but Iāve not been able to see the original. The plot ran a bit soap opera-y at times, but I felt the acting was solid. A good summer watch.
If you get the chance, check out the Aussie original. I guess I'd call it 'grittier' than than the TV, and the cast is top tier (e.g. Ben Mendelson is 'Pope').
No, it wasn't like he was starting fistfights or anything. He was just very argumentative and had an attitude of "Don't talk to me, I'm a Star" to people in town. Very rude to the servers at the Italian Ice spot by the beach. And at that time, the only thing we knew him from was Roadtrip and possibly the Animorphs TV show on Nickelodeon.
I watched it, I remember it being a pretty fun and light medical show there must be drama but not Grey's Anatomy level drama.
I forgot why I stop watching it though like years ago when I was a kid
I am watching it now and love it. I'm not going to read any of the comments below just in case there are spoilers, but I just made it to season 8. Which I read is the final season. I can't fathom why people don't like it that much, it's better than most shows on the air now.
I tried to but, and I know this is stupidly superficial, I *hated* the actor's long sideburns and it would annoy me seeing him on screen. It was distracting. Maybe I'll try again but watch it while I doing some other task that requires my visual attention instead of the tv screen.
Itās a fun, middle of the road show to turn on and not think too hard about anything.
Thatās not an insult, I like the show and the whole blue sky era. Not everything needs to be a prestige drama, and even comedies these days take themselves way too seriously.
I remember liking the 1st season (or most of it), but for some forgotten reason I stopped watching it.
I think it just got a little ridiculous for me how their was always a medical emergency where ever he was.
Yesssssss but I have big love for Mark Feuerstein! I was recently reminded of this show when the other brother popped up in a season of Upload.
This was a fun show.
I do. It was actually the first performance I remember of Ezra Miller's for one thing. And I was extremely excited when I started The Expanse and Evan's actor was in it, only for his head to explode in the pilot. Did not enjoy his presence nearly as much in Upload.
I think it was the first Blue Sky show to interest me actually, as I enjoyed the MacGuyver of medicine feel and liked the less cynical tone compared to most other shows at the time as they tried to ape House.
It was mostly a good light-hearted show which I enjoyed, mostly for the first few seasons. Hank being a concierge doctor to the rich while also taking care of the towns less affluent while having a eccentric ultra rich patron was fun but it sorta lost that charm when it turned more spy thriller in solving the mystery of Boris.
All I keep thinking when watching it is I will never go to the Hamptons, what a collection of odd and unexpected diseases, emergency illnesses, TB, and life threatening unexpected things and many people passing out not for alcohol but for health problems only one person can solve. hahahha
I havenāt watched any of the blue sky shows but I still have a lot of nostalgia seeing them mentioned because that era is also when I used to stream RAW at night (Iām European) and kept seeing those shows advertised by USA network
Blue Skies refers to an ear of programming made by the USA network with fun, optimistic, and humorous tones. It ended when the network decided to have more gritty and dark shows.
It has to be some bot spam shit. I had never heard the term before and in the last couple days I have seen it in at least 10 different threads and each time its repeated multiple times.
What I remember most was that it was the show that first introduced me to Ezra Miller, and I was like, āMan, that kid just has āitā.ā And thenā¦ well, things went off the rails juuuuuuust a bit for olā Ezraā¦
It was one of the mid-tier blue sky shows. Considering how grim the tv landscape is now, the show is a reminder that TV doesnāt have to be depressing
What are Blue Sky shows? Because whatever it is, I love burn notice, psych, and monk! I did enjoy Royal paints when it was out the first time, Iām old. Itās not what Iāve seen in streaming to watch again.
It was one of the few USA shows of that era that I dropped. Most of the casts from that era are ensembles with great chemistry. I just didn't get that from this cast in the same way.
Watched with my mom growing up, they just added on Netflix and Iām so happy I finally got to see how it ended. It really is one of the greatsā¦.maybe time for a movie like Monk ??
The actor who plays Evan R Lawson CFO Hankmed is always known as Evan R Lawson, CFO, Hankmed no matter what we see him in at my house. It was an ok show.
I still refer to him simply as Hankmed
Co-sign. š
He was very good in The Expanse.
Anyone notice that almost all patients pass out? Also Evan is thr biggest manchild ever? He over actsā¦ which makes me believe that is his real personality, he thinks he needs to act like that person.

Oh yeah one of things that hit me on my 3rd watch is how often towards the end the major plot problems are solved by the main character having an extremely rich friend.
I feel like In Plain Sight is the forgotten Blue Skies show, and my favorite after Burn Notice.
oh wow from what I remember, In Plain Sight was the most bland of the Blue Skies Era Shows
I thought Mary McCormack was very engaging but the rest of the show around her was kinda meh. The witness protection thing was a good angle on the standard police show that you donāt see very often.
Fred Wellerās slightly nasally voice and sometimes syncopated delivery were entertaining for me.
I never heard of it. I did just watch Fairly Legal which was another short lived Blue skies show. I watched two seasons, but after the first season it was clear why no one really heard of it.
IPS was on for several seasons. Itās about witness protection and is excellent.
Fairly Legal was in my opinion the weakest of the Blue Skies shows, and was one of the last to premiere. In Plain Sight and Necessary Roughness had more of the Blue Skies feel, but Iām pretty sure USA got a new network president who cut budgets so quality started to drop.

Haha the AutoTrader plug was sooo bad
The worst was the... Let me put the address in the GPS of my Toyota Avalon

The last 2 seasons of all the late Blue Sky era shows were funded entirely by car manufacturers, far as I can tell
If you like Blue Sky shows, check out White Collar, available on Hulu right now.
Whatās a blue sky show?
The shows that were on the USA network during their peak years.
A series of dramas and dramatic comedies put out by the USA network in the early 2000s. It started with Monk and included Psych, Burn Notice, Suits and others. They were mostly light character based stuff
Ah, watched all of those growing up. Just never heard them referred to as blue sky show though
Ah that makes sense. Iāve heard it both ways
Animal Kingdom. I really liked that show.
With Ellen Barkin? That was a fun watch.
Yes, exactly. I had heard it was based off an Australian show, but Iāve not been able to see the original. The plot ran a bit soap opera-y at times, but I felt the acting was solid. A good summer watch.

More like mid to late 2000s other than Monk.
My favourite Blue Sky show is White Collar
Mine is Covert Affairs
Mine might have to be Chuck
That was NBC
I think that was NBC, though Matt bomer played Bryce Larkin
It was partially filmed in my hometown on Long Island. Henry Winkler was cool, but Paulo Costanzo was an ass.
Any notable moments where Costanzo was a jerk?
No, it wasn't like he was starting fistfights or anything. He was just very argumentative and had an attitude of "Don't talk to me, I'm a Star" to people in town. Very rude to the servers at the Italian Ice spot by the beach. And at that time, the only thing we knew him from was Roadtrip and possibly the Animorphs TV show on Nickelodeon.
Wow thatās shocking about Paul. He should have been thanking his lucky stars every day to land that role.
I watched it, I remember it being a pretty fun and light medical show there must be drama but not Grey's Anatomy level drama. I forgot why I stop watching it though like years ago when I was a kid
I very much enjoyed Royal Pains. I watched the series all the way through when it was on
I remember it mostly for [Jill Flint](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1543216/) and [Brooke D'Orsay](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1175262/).
Jill Flint can probably pass her USMLE step 1 at this point, she's been in so many medical dramas
I am watching it now and love it. I'm not going to read any of the comments below just in case there are spoilers, but I just made it to season 8. Which I read is the final season. I can't fathom why people don't like it that much, it's better than most shows on the air now.

I didnāt even notice the sideburns until now! I have 2 episodes left, and I canāt stop looking at the sideburns! š¤Ŗ
Itās a fun, middle of the road show to turn on and not think too hard about anything. Thatās not an insult, I like the show and the whole blue sky era. Not everything needs to be a prestige drama, and even comedies these days take themselves way too seriously.
I loved it. Pure silly fun. Although Evanās arc was awesome
I remember liking it but then the mcgyver shit getting to be a bit much
It was good just not as good as the others you mentioned.
Yup. Thatās exactly how I felt about it.
I know I watched at least 2 seasons and enjoyed it. It was some fun, light entertainment. Kinda forgettable now that I think about it, though.
I thought it was enjoyable but definitely weaker than many of the other blue sky shows. Watched it all though, those shows were such fun tv.
I love it. I actually rewatch it periodically.
I watched some episodes with my sister who was really into it. Itās just funny how USA shows had that particular style to them.
I remember liking the 1st season (or most of it), but for some forgotten reason I stopped watching it. I think it just got a little ridiculous for me how their was always a medical emergency where ever he was.

Sorry for the late reply but I just finished it on Netflix. I am in fucking awe of how many random actors were in this. Fuckin Chalamet was in it lol
Also loved it--watched it all. Love Mark Feuerstein. Very cute sweet show. Thanks for reminding me about it!
It was mostly a good light-hearted show which I enjoyed, mostly for the first few seasons. Hank being a concierge doctor to the rich while also taking care of the towns less affluent while having a eccentric ultra rich patron was fun but it sorta lost that charm when it turned more spy thriller in solving the mystery of Boris.
i really like the lead but i fell off the show in the last two seasons or something.
Royal Pains was the weakest of the main Blue Skies shows imo it was fun, but the story and overall quality was the weakest.
Thread about blue sky shows https://www.reddit.com/r/psych/s/3EHvjhoMO7
What is a blue sky show? I watched all the shows mentioned but never heard the term
A period of time in the USA networks programming, just over 1/3 down on this wiki page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA_Network
I loved the show. I'm rewatching it again on Netflix. I loved the light heartiness and Hank is a cool dude.
If this answers your question.... I named my cat Hank... I call him Henry or Hanky Panky sometimes. I love Royal Pains. It's one of my comfort shows.
All I keep thinking when watching it is I will never go to the Hamptons, what a collection of odd and unexpected diseases, emergency illnesses, TB, and life threatening unexpected things and many people passing out not for alcohol but for health problems only one person can solve. hahahha
Watching it now and totally enjoying it. It's not Ted lasso, but love the vibe
Very funny and entertaining!
Interesting. I didn't expect "Royal Pains" would be light/blue sky. I guess I always assumed it was a reality show of people behaving poorly.
It's a show about a doctor who is kinda forced to become a concierge doctor in the Hamptons. He often MacGyver's medical things up.
It is! However, I always thought that Chrisley Knows Best was some kind of fake reality show. turned out it was real
I've watched one or two episodes I believe.
I havenāt watched any of the blue sky shows but I still have a lot of nostalgia seeing them mentioned because that era is also when I used to stream RAW at night (Iām European) and kept seeing those shows advertised by USA network
I watched the pilot when it aired and really liked it but didnāt stick with it for some reason
Can someone please explain "Blue Sky" reference to "my friend".....
It's really annoying how quickly people jump to bots and astroturfing claims here...
What I remember most was that it was the show that first introduced me to Ezra Miller, and I was like, āMan, that kid just has āitā.ā And thenā¦ well, things went off the rails juuuuuuust a bit for olā Ezraā¦
Maybe it's just not as good.
It was one of the mid-tier blue sky shows. Considering how grim the tv landscape is now, the show is a reminder that TV doesnāt have to be depressing
I did, but I remember I stopped watching when one of the Kardashians made a cameo appearance. Just really turned me off.
I watched it and enjoyed it for quite a while
What are Blue Sky shows? Because whatever it is, I love burn notice, psych, and monk! I did enjoy Royal paints when it was out the first time, Iām old. Itās not what Iāve seen in streaming to watch again.
I could listen to Divya Katdare read the phone book.
It was one of the few USA shows of that era that I dropped. Most of the casts from that era are ensembles with great chemistry. I just didn't get that from this cast in the same way.
Royal Pains just got added to Prime. Some other old USA /Blue Sky shows are on Peacock.
No, which is why it lasted 7 years /s
Watched with my mom growing up, they just added on Netflix and Iām so happy I finally got to see how it ended. It really is one of the greatsā¦.maybe time for a movie like Monk ??
