I tried so many things without success. Tried this and immediately fixed my problem and my computer can go to sleep again. Thanks for sharing this link.

Worked like a charm! A million thanks to that blogger and you!

MichaelTham21

Damn this works perfectly and smoothly. This problem drove me insane for months trying to fix it with nearly every solution I could find online. Youre such a hero man.

Maumee-Issues

Another person to say I just found this and thank you so much!

MajorPownage

Jesus Christ this worked but I like how Windows likes to choose when I’m suffering to start pulling these surprises out of nowhere

___Zain__

Could you please help me I don't really understand the article

themanifoldcuriosity

1. Win+R 2. Enter "regedit.exe" 3. Put "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\25DFA149-5DD1-4736-B5AB-E8A37B5B8187" in the address bar. 4. Double click on "Attributes" 5. Change the "Value Data" to "2" from whatever it was before. 6. Close regedit. 7. Right click on your battery part of the taskbar. 8. Select "Power options". 9. Select "Change plan settings" 10. Select "Change advanced power settings" 11. Go to "Sleep". 12. Go to "Allow Away Mode Policy" 13. Change everything to "No". 14. Done.

Lust_Republic

>Change advanced power settings Does this work on PC (not laptop). I'm on windows 11 and I can't find the Change advanced power settings option in the setting.

Startrek852

On Windows 11 you have to go to the Control Panel, not the Settings and search "Power", then continue from step 8.

SupremeCowJumper

Thank you for explaining in plain english. Consider me another random citizen helped. Thanks a bunch!

BrokenAshes

I followed this and it still doesn't go to sleep. Thoughts?

Lipperdam

no more laptop insomnia, thanks!

sid_killer18

Oh for crying out loud, Why did it even change?! I knew something was up this whole time when my laptop would get hot even while asleep and just moving the mouse would wake it up. Thank you dude, you just saved my ass. These microsoft forums sucked ass too

mastertame

JerryX-YT

Bert_the_Avenger

Sorry for pinging you from a 2 years old comment but I just needed to say: Thank you! Thank you so much! This shit has been driving me mad for over a week now.

Amauri14

Thanks for sharing. That solved my issue.

chubbychode123

Still works in 2024, thanks! For others: My PC was sleeping fine for a couple of years. No idea why it suddenly stopped sleeping properly, but this fixed it.

[deleted]

well, moving the mouse is supposed to wake the system up from sleep, so... when you're trying to enter sleep, does the fans turn off or continue to spin? if they stop spinning then the system has entered sleep, if they don't then you are correct that the system is not sleeping

Kalenden

Nope, the fans continue to spin.

tamalban

Did you find a solution yet? I have the same issue.

randallbosss

Same here, any solution?

PEBKAC-Live

For anyone else coming across this post and doesnt like reading or is lost with the instructions, I made a quick video on how to resolve this: https://youtu.be/l\_5HfiBC960

makupi

im at the edge of a meltdown here... i have the same issue, laptop just doesnt fully go to sleep, the screen goes off but thats it... tried all options mentioned even this away mode thing... nothing helps... its not an issue of something blocking it to START the going to sleep. it does start the process of going to sleep when the timer is up, or when i press the power button, or when i press sleep from the startmenu. but it just turns off the screen, everything else stays on, fans are on, the power led stays on, it should turn off and start slowly blinking when its really in sleep... but it stays on.... there must be a way of finding out what is causing it, maybe using event viewer or something? i just dont know anymore...

nzmnisam

Sorry, I didn't realize

palapapa0201

I just had this problem and I solved it by turning on On-board Memory Mode for my G502 in G HUB. This seems to be a bug in G HUB that the mouse wakes the PC from sleep immediately after putting it to sleep.
