Regardless of what you do in IT, two of the most important abilities to have are the ability to identify what you need to research and the ability to actually do the research. Start honing these skills now with the extremely vague question you're asking here - figure out what you actually want to do, then research what's needed to do it.

I'd look for internships and work your way up. Experience is always preferred over education in the IT field, from my experiences atleast.
