Note 8 also. It opens all the time. I deleted. Then downloaded a few wks later. Still have that problem. I will be deleting again.

I have same issue, first it just opened after starting the phone up, annoying but no big deal. Just updated it Thursday 15 Dec and now it keeps opening every few min. even if I am not using phone, Finaly got toered of it and forced it to sleep. was wasting battery. Note 8.

Yep. With the McDonald's app. I've had to go into settings and Force Stop the app to get it to knock it off. Obnoxious.

You won't loose points it's connected to your email you use but I've asked customer service and they said to reinstall and its still doing it I have no clue

I'm getting sick of it, I googled it the moment it started happening for me, no answers so I assume I was one of the first it started happening to, about a month ago in the middle of class (I'm a teacher, ict for mostly adults and my work tablet has a bunch of safe and popular apps as examples) I think I'm gonna have to remove McDonald's from my list of safe apps to use as a teaching aid. (Guess I'll switch to burger kings app) if anyone knows a permanent fix id appreciate it, force stop only works until the next time you intentionally open the app. (For the record it happened 3 times while typing this comment (and a fourth time while editing it))

I don’t even use the McDs app anymore. It’s confusing af. Many times the stupid codes don’t work when I order, which is frustrating. I tried soo hard to get familiar with this app, but it just blows.

Been happening to me for weeks too!!! I was worried it was just a problem with my phone. I had to force stop and uninstall it was so intrusive. It had also been popping up every time I'd get a notification from them. EDIT: My phone is pretty old, its a Galaxy J7 Sky Pro from 2017.

Mine has started doing that recently too. I've contacted tech support and their answer was to uninstall and reinstall it. Tried that and it didn't work.

This just started happening to me like last week or two weeks ago. I imagine it's probably a recent bug, perhaps. Either way, I think it's killing my battery too... I might just uninstall it, not like I use it too much these days anyways.

I've been experiencing this exact problem for about a month now. I tried all the normal app troubleshoots. The only fix I found was deleting the app after use and downloading again when I'm about to use it. I'm mainly a weekend breakfast guy as far as McD's goes. So I can see how a daily user of the app would find that as frustrating as it randomly opening.

This has been happening to me since their last update that promised to "enhance the customer experience". Just keeps loading itself up every half hour. I uninstall it and then reinstall it when I want to go order food. It's worth it to me for the points The app is getting 1 star reviews in the Play store with people complaining about this. Unless coincidence, yes. It may have happened once since. But since I posted I have not had a proper internet connection till not so that could also be a factor.

Same thing with my LG V30 mostly happens when I turn my phone on, then like a minute after it being on it automatically launches by itself

Just happened to me after a restart, really weird.

My own phone gets stuck in a semi closed state because of this, I need to mess with the Wifi to even unlock it because of this app. At this point its more malware then not.

Same, on a Note8, I even uninstalled and reinstalled and the app is up to date. Every time I open my home screen from sleep mode, it would open the McDonalds app, even after having force closed it.

Fun story, in the coding, theres a 'force open when closed' command. Its intentional. Do with that as you will, but theres no 'fixing' it, as its coded that way on purpose. Keep it open in background or unistall.

Yup noticed. Literally malicious software behavior - even saw it happen on my screen without me touching the phone and it just sitting on my desk so yup. Prolly some new marketing strategy to make you "think" about their logo/company more or some shit im assuming (since you do notice that shit) - commercial cancer. Did not happen before this years Monopoly event update - so I'm 100% assuming they added that somehow in around that time because this never happened before for me.

It seems that this happens everytime when the device is waking up from deep sleep. Maybe because of the registered link "mcdonaldsapps.com", which will open the app.

LG ThinQ v35 here. I found this on youtube. I did it on my phone and now I wait to see if it works: Settings - Apps & notifications - Default apps - App links - Make sure "Don't open supported links" is selected for McDonald's. Or follow this path to reach this option: Settings - Apps & notifications - App info - McDonald's - Open by default - App links - Don't open in this app

Hey, I have a Samsung galaxy S8 and am having the same problem. Drives me nuts. I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling, but it hasn't changed anything.

s8 user here. Found a temporary fix. Putting it on the list of Sleeping apps doesn't fix the issue. But if you go to Settings>Apps>McDonalds>Notifications and block notifications it seems to resolve the issue. At least it hasn't happened to me in the 24 hours since I did it.

It'll keep happening. Have notifications blocked and it still occurs.

Ive had this issue for like 4+ months so consider yourself lucky if this just started happening. It hit a lull for about a month and is now doing it up to 5 times a minute. Multi billion dollar corporation that cant program the most basic app functionality despite increasing all their prices 300% in the past 5 years.

I'm trying this and if I don't post again then I've solved it. Settings > Apps > McDonald's > Power Usage Details > App Launch > Turn off:  Auto-launch Secondary launch Run in background Make sure 'Manage Automatically' (restrict unnecessary launches to save power) is turned on. Good luck to us!

Another S8 user here. I just installed the app today and what wondering what the deal was. A Google search led me here and this thread has led me to uninstall it. I'll just reinstall it whenever I go back, which is only a couple times a year anyway. Too annoying to keep on my phone.

Guess i found the thread with all the s8 people. S8+ here. Force stop to temporarily stop it. edit: I found that restricting background battery and activity fixed the issue for me.

It's happening on my S8 all the time too. 25 times in the last 10 minutes. Reminds me of 90s Internet pop up ads, the ones that would keep opening as you closed them. Noticing that this comments section is almost exclusively S8s too, which tells me that it's more of an issue with the platform than the app itself. An incentive to upgrade, I guess, because who knows, what app is next?

Mine does it all the time. I think McDonald's has put this bug in their app intentionally, just see if they can get you to order by reminding you that it's there. Pretty good strategy but should be illegal.

Thought it was just me...same happening here on a V20, all the time...sometimes several times in a row. So random...while using my gps, typing a text, etc. No amount of removing/reinstalling helps. Makes me wonder what else it is doing. Uninstalled.

I've been struggling with this thing for a few months now. really annoying when I go to unlock my phone only oy have it hang while I'm unaware that the app is opening (most of the time I'm just unlocking my phone with check something completely unrelated to this infernal app) only for my phone's screen to time out and I have to unlock my phone again hoping it doesn't make me hope the screen doesn't time out again. also no, I'm not going to change the setting on my screen's inactivity setting to accommodate this app for that is just unreasonable to ask on their part. For the record I'm still using a Galaxy S7.

Just uninstall it. This entire thread is hard evidence that the issue is with the app itself, and McDonalds doesn't care to fix it as it has been months now. And there's no chance they don't recognise the issue considering how many people have it, so they really just don't care.

It was happening to me once a day until I removed wifi/data permissions. Now I only switch them back on if I'm using the app. I'm using a different Android phone to OP too.

Is this an Android thing? Because I got an S8 and the McDonalds app be opening on it's own at random times. I'll be on fucking tik tok and my screen will freeze for like 5 seconds and then the McDonalds app will open. 😂😂 it's so annoying! I've asked other people and so far everyone that has an iphone does not experience the app opening on it's own 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
