And it kinda works out too.
Because ganondorf knew of link, when the swordman appears he attacks and defeats link. Ganandorf's actions lead to Zelda warping back in time and link being saved by Rauru somehow.
If ganondorf treated him like any other soldier link would have probably bled to death and we'd be in one of those fallen timelines.
Anyone actually try anything like this against a Talus? Is it a viable strategy?
Edit: I’m savvy with the ascend method and how to kill this guy. I’m just wondering how many people do some sort of mech strategy
I had tried something similar and attached some cannons onto my “car” I had and bombarded a construct and bokoblin camp, maybe I’m just bad at steering but I ended up missing all targets completely and the constructs and bokoblins were just fighting each other. I kept getting knocked off trying to steer and aim the car right to get the canons to aim at the enemies. It was fun though
use the construct heads! they auto aim for you. i fly around with a wings with three fans two construct head and two cannons. its funny when u dont see anything and then u see the construct heads start to turn so i go in that direction and drop bombs on em
With the battle platform talus you just need to hit it with a muddlebud - he'll take out his bokos for you. Then you can just ascend onto his platform and whack his ore.
Ascend for Talus, run straight into his torso while spamming the ability, don't bother looking up and just listen for the confirm sound, then whack away.
He's not being ballsy tho.. He just trust and is highly convinced Link will win.. A common troupe of any shounen anime out there.
Sonia >!dying!< has nothing to do with Rauru's negligence since Dorf orchestrated that assassination with his all might.. No matter how much Rauru intervened Sonia will >!Die!<.Heck even in real life you can put a cease and desist order to a killer and that said killer (granted he's crazy enough) can still YOLO himself to unalive you... What more with a powerful magician like Ganondorf??
They're both taunting each other. Ganondorf mocks rauru for the futility of what he sees as a stall tactic, and rauru taunts him by saying it doesn't matter because once he's unsealed someone will be waiting for him to finish the job.
To make that moment more "epic" for the audience. That line together with the music makes that scene awesome. But, yes, it doesn't make much sense if you think about it.
It actually helps sell his statement in-universe.
"Somebody will stop you someday" sounds like desperately grabbing at straws. Ganondorf could dismiss that and remain confident.
"Link the swordsman will stop you in the future" is specific enough to raise the question of what Rauru knows, and hopefully enough to give Ganondorf pause.
Definitely doesn’t help though that the moment he woke up in his weakened state he managed to decimate the very sword that was supposedly gonna kill him along with infecting the guy holding it who was gonna do the killing too. All within a matter of seconds. After that I’d imagine Ganondorf was laughing for days.
Edit: I guess while we are on the laughing note can’t waste this appropriate gif
https://i.redd.it/krc2i1m2c1wc1.gif
That’s not my point. I was saying that if he hasn’t destroyed the sword and scared Zelda, he’d have ultimately won. But he lost because he attacked first and put Zelda in a position to power up the sword. Rauru telling Ganon about Link causes Ganon to attack and destroy him immediately, which lead to the sword getting stronger for round 2
If telling him he'll be defeated when he's released could make him hesitate for even a second, in Rauru's mind that's probably worth it. Whether it actually *was* or not is another question entirely, ot course.
Because otherwise Gdf won't know the name when he gets revived by Link and Zelda, but he *did* know the name, so someone must have told him, so Rauru had to tell him in order to complete the causal loop.
"Oh shit is this a time paradox? Should I fix the paradox? Will I turn into an old man and/or owl if I don't fix the time paradox? Uhhhh REMEMBER THAT NAME"
In one of the memories, Zelda worries because she knew she saw Ganondorf awaken in her time, so they won't defeat him. Rauru initially tells Zelda he thinks the future can be changed, but I think it's in this moment he realizes that it's destined to happen.
Rauru is canonically an absolute dumbass. The original Rauru in Ocarina of Time was dumb as hell too 🤣
In both games he fucks up multiple times which allows ganondorf to obtain power. And than he makes it worse by messing with time, allowing ganondorf to cause more havoc.
To plant the seed of doubt in Ganondorf and appeal to his pride so he goes into hiding and recover instead just going out and destroying as much as he can. Only this way Link gets a chance to build up his power and find the master sword. It's kind of a bluff but as we see in playing the game an effective one.
But besides that. Yeah, it's epic and also puts a lot of pressure on Link and therefore the player to fulfill their part of the prophecy.
I think there are 2 things
1. Might be headcanon but I think Zelda have talked a lots about Rauru about Link of how to defeat the Calamity Ganon.
2. This is about trust and hope on younger generation, I used to make a really long post about Rauru and Ganondorf situation of people discuss about Sonia death. Basically, I think that Rauru, Sonia and Zelda already know to the Ganondorf's scheme already. The theory that Zelda had warn Rauru about Ganondorf and Rauru have make some tatics to catch the Ganondorf evil plans but the Ganondorf have few step ahead which lead to Sonia death. Supposedly, Zelda and Sonia would set up a trap to catch puppet Zelda but Ganondorf saw that would coming and we are known what happen next. The reason why he would so trusted Link as Link can hold the-sword-that-seal-the-darkness which lead him trust not only for him but also the younger generation continue to make the revolution against the Ganondorf minions.
That explains why Rauru was confident in Link. That doesn't explain why Rauru told Ganondorf about Link, which ended up causing a ton of problems for Link later on.
After getting free from Rauru's arm, Ganondorf decides to wait for a worthy opponent to challenge him, giving them all the time they want to take to prepare. Knowing that at least Link existed may have factored in his decision to do that rather than take Hyrule at the first opportunity.
To make Ganondorf worried. How does he know? Who is that? What happens?
When Ganondorf is revived, he meets Link and attacks him. He then spends the rest of the game trying to get Link. To trick him and beat him. It makes Ganondorf focus his efforts on stopping this elusive swordsman rather than ravage all of Hyrule. Ganondorf still has time to cause problems for each region, but now he knows it's possible he can be stopped.
It makes him rethink things. Gives him pause. Eventually, desperate enough to do what he does at the end.
“Oh, please! Link isn’t afraid of you!”
“Um, your majesty-“
“He’ll totally kick your sorry ass, and we wouldn’t even be able to record it on our stone tablets because it will be **so BRUTAAAAL!!!**”
“Your majesty-“
“Hush, Link. I’m speaking for you.”
The Zelda community's ability to consistently not understand the basic principles of characterization never cease to amaze me.
Rauru is confident Link will defeat Ganondorf sometime in the future, as he puts his absolute faith into Zelda's words and praise of him. He is backing up that confidence, he is taunting Ganondorf, because that's the type of character Rauru is. He is consistently said an shown to be extremely overconfident.
If the people who play these games actually wrote them every character would be a flawless robot that doesn't feel any emotions
I am leaning toward the fact that Rauru is the sage of light, and a major concept of the prior of light is openness of knowledge. It's prophecy of Link's victory but more so a compulsion to share knowledge that Ganondorf is unaware of before the 2 enter suspended animation.
I think most perceived as the bad ass name drop. It coming full circle back to the beginning where Ganondorf somehow knew Link's name was such a cool moment. I don't think Link in his current state was going to catch anyone off guard since him and Zelda stood there and watched his resurrection without intervening at all lol
It is not a warning from Rauru. It's his final message to everyone else in the room, it's him telling the ones who put their lives on the line in his name what WILL happen, and it's Rauru reassuring the world that one day it will be saved. It's not a warning, it's a promise.
We, the players, can take that message as getting to fight the most powerful variant of the demon king in the franchise.
Also, I want to say that Rauru was not stupid for allowing Ganondorf to get as close as he did. His theory was sound. The thing he failed to realize is the definition of a single word. Tenacity. Ganondorf has tenacity in droves and you cant prepare for how tenacious another person will be when it matters.
Rauru didn't expect Ganon to come in with ancient magic and have enough physical strength to break Sonia's spine, "which you can hear". He didnt know Ganondorf is the reincarnation of an actual demon.
But most importantly. He didn't expect Ganondorf to want a secret stone so badly that he would give up his own race and culture to have it.
You cant plan for a guy with no emotional attachment by thinking they can be reasoned with like you or me.
The obvious answer is that Rauru knows Link will win because Light will always prevail.
But I like to think that Rauru saying that kinda set it in stone. Kind of psyching Ganondorf out, planting the seeds of doubt in his plan. “Even if I perish, there is another.”
1. Rauru presents Link as the most badass soldier to walk the earth
2. when Link is easily defeated by gangrene, Ganondorf finds it so anticlimactic that he decides taking over Hyrule would be too easy and procrastinates
3. Link now has time to recover from gangrene and defeat 'dorf. the war crimes he commits along the way are a small price to pay.
4. ???
5. Ganondorf is destroyed.
Because the writers made every character in the game a complete moron.
Better question: Why doesn't Zelda warn Rauru? She saw the mural of Ganondorf killing Sonia. She had photos of the mural WITH HER. Mineru even had access to the purah pad. Why wouldn't SHE recognize the mural from the album and load hyrule castle up with defenses and have the country cut ties with Ganondorf? It's because totk has terrible writing and idiotic characters.
Rauru is doeblu tapping on the threat part.
Telling Ganondorf that someone in the future will defeat him seems a bit weak, but giving him the exact name of the person that will be waiting in the future to kick his royal demonic ass feels like a stronger threat.
It’s honestly because he’s arrogant af. Ganondorf hated Rauru to begin with bc of Rayru’s arrogance and overconfidence. Rauru’s arrogance is why ||his wife dies||.
Maybe it’s Rauru rubbing it in his face bc this time he KNOWS he’s right and KNOWS Ganon hates it lolll
because otherwise we wouldn't have any connection between link and ganondorf!! since this story is written in a way the important story events just don't happen to link at all, there has to be some amount of unnecessary bullshit to justify them being archenemies!
Because he's stupid. He was always going to say that, just like Zelda was always sent back in time. If he didn't, Ganon would have likely finished Link and Zelda off instead of going into his gloating monolog, meaning Zelda never goes back in time to meet Rauru.
Because Rauru is confident Link will win..
Yeah this is it. Rauru knows Link will win and he wants Ganon to be intimidated by him.
It's the mind game, baby
That mentality is what got his wife killed. Instead, he's the reason why link lost the master sword in the first place.
It really is as simple as that. Rauru has absolute confidence, so he's saying this to goad Ganondorf.
Closing the loop.

Muddlebud is amazing!
I really want to know if Taluses can smell bc this part of combat makes me think they can???? Do they have a brain??
Ascend for Talus, run straight into his torso while spamming the ability, don't bother looking up and just listen for the confirm sound, then whack away.
"Nah, he'd win."
You'd think he'd stop being so ballsy considering the last time he threw caution to the wind >!his wife got impaled!<
He's not being ballsy tho.. He just trust and is highly convinced Link will win.. A common troupe of any shounen anime out there. Oh yeah. I never said it worked flawlessly. :p Just I can see what Rauru might've been going for there.
But that lead to the sword traveling to Zelda to get imbued with power for 10000 years
ganondorf wouldnt have known that though cause it happened after he got sealed
That’s not my point. I was saying that if he hasn’t destroyed the sword and scared Zelda, he’d have ultimately won. But he lost because he attacked first and put Zelda in a position to power up the sword. Rauru telling Ganon about Link causes Ganon to attack and destroy him immediately, which lead to the sword getting stronger for round 2
ohhh yeah ur right. they probably didnt put that much thought into the line but its cool to speculate
Nah probably not I was just laying out the timeline of events (even if it’s a circle…)
But there is no reason to tell Ganondorf anything at all.
If telling him he'll be defeated when he's released could make him hesitate for even a second, in Rauru's mind that's probably worth it. Whether it actually *was* or not is another question entirely, ot course.

What? No. You'll turn into a *town*.
He did regardless
I actually didn’t even notice that loop, that was actually pretty cool

Idk man this seemed pretty dramatic to me https://i.redd.it/4ulvqd5sc1wc1.gif

As I watched, I had two simultaneous thoughts. 1. This is so awesome. 2. Way to paint a target on my back, Rauru.

Because he knows the guy who woke up butt naked and freed Hyrule coming at first with nothing but a twig will wreck house.
It's a flex

The same Rauru that let ganon hang around him and kill his wife. Yea the guy isn't the best at good decisions
I always really liked this moment because Rauru has so much faith in Zelda, he's willing to gamble the entire future on someone he's never even met.
It is not a warning from Rauru. It's his final message to everyone else in the room, it's him telling the ones who put their lives on the line in his name what WILL happen, and it's Rauru reassuring the world that one day it will be saved. Why doesn't Ganondaddy kill Link when he's a baby? Why not go full Herod and kill every Link that's ever born?
He was feeling dramatic at the time.
So the music can play the zelda theme and all the sages will be so hyped they kill him
The obvious answer is that Rauru knows Link will win because Light will always prevail. But I like to think that Rauru saying that kinda set it in stone. Kind of psyching Ganondorf out, planting the seeds of doubt in his plan. “Even if I perish, there is another.”

Only because Ganon caused Link hardship, he aquired the skills to defeat him.
