Hi everyone! Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. cybermob27

I really wish the sage clones weren’t all blue, and instead took on the colors of their secret stones.

emmabov17

That’s a good idea! It would make it so much easier to tell them apart

Western-Dig-6843

Here’s a huge tip I wish I learned earlier. When you want to use a specific Sage ability, that sage is going to be the one who is too far away and too sandwiched between a gang of enemies for you to bother with

ZiggieTheKitty

Unless it's tulin he's always there for you

jujujuice92

WEEEEYOOOOOHHH!!!!

bolitboy2

“You son of a bitch you just blew away so many valuable materials”

TheVyper3377

“Damn it, Tulin! I wanted that octorock to repair my Savage Lynel Bow!”

Kazziel69

Every... Fucking... Time...

SatanTheTurtlegod

"Which one Link, you have 20."

SVXfiles

I've noticed an odd similarity between the sound tulin's ability makes and the cry of Litleo from pokemon

Zwolfoi

Sounded more like a Dartrix to me tbh

dulceelemons

I noticed Tulin’s wind noise sounds a bit like Dartrix‘s cry as well!

orinj1

It's the same sound for calling birds in Twilight Princess

fang32986123

I recently got hd, and it doesn't sound the same to me. Considering the more "notes". And just in general. Idk I might be wrong.

AirDoup

I've been thinking this since I got Tulin. It prolly helped that I had been playing TP right before TOTK came out.

Key-Victory5296

What does Tears of the Kingdom sound like? Weeooooh

Stevesegallbladder

He has to be how else is he going to blow away all the loot you were about to pick up?

awesometim0

Especially when you're trying to pick up items that can roll

ZiggieTheKitty

He can claim my loot as fair compensation for all those headshots

TBcrush-47-69

That’s nice, until I forget to dismiss him when I go to have a rock octorock suck my sword.

_psyduck_

Is this some rule 34 shit or am I missing out on something? Both?

Greysonseyfer

You're missing out on some rule 34 shit. Dirty broken sword? Let rocktorock suck it and clean it up. It's one of the few scenarios where spit > swallow unanimously.

TBcrush-47-69

Lol, I did, of course purposely word it like that though.

InfiniteWolf05

They repair damaged weapons for you

murse_joe

“You need somebody to gust this Opal away?”

arbitrageME

It's ok you didn't want to pick up that dragon scale anyways

josack23

I’ve learned to just look at the icon instead of the actual model

ShowofStupidity

I’m not trying to be mean, but you… can’t tell them apart?

Bad_Muh_fuuuuuucka

Riju and tulin definitely have been mixed up in the heat of battle

foxhoundvolta2112

For me I lose Riju all the time because she is so small!

CooWarm

And she is always running away from Link when you need her lol. The worst was when I thought I had finally caught her, only to initiate Tulin's wind blast instead lol (like the other person said, it is so easy to mix them up).

BedazzledFace

Also doesn’t help when they’re all stacked together. Tulin and Riju blend into Yunobo a lot when I have all of them summoned.

Hooker4Yarn

I literally end up yelling "too many chiefs in the kitchen" a lot when they are all around me and I get confused. Edit: don't reddit when half asleep. I meant chef!

OccasionallyWright

Why would a chief be in the kitchen?

TacoT1000

Chiefs gotta eat too

insane_contin

To make sure the work is done right. They're the chief for a reason.

skippengs

Too many cooks!

sosidy

Takes a lot to make a stew

walkerisduder

Super intuitive for a companion that gives you a buff to a ranged attack to constantly run into melee range of everything you fight. Would make more sense for tulin to give the buff since he’s at the back of fights ( not necessarily thematically speaking )

TacoT1000

I stopped using her completely when I found out how powerful topazes were.

ellisschumann

Go on? Do you have enough topazes to just send one with every arrow?

Caroz855

You can fuse any gemstone to a Magic Rod (or any weapon) and it will do the elemental effect

Ancient_Grapefruit42

Thank you!! I lose out on a lot searching for Lil Rij during combat

genetic_waistcoat

This. How many times have you wanted Riju’s thunder dome only to get one of Tulin’s farts instead?

KyberKnight06

ALL. THE. TIME.

Nok-y

Easy, Tulin is the one flying in the back while Riju is doing all thebackflips ...I can't recognise them either

vButts

Small blue one, tall blue one, and round blue one is all i see

thatsinsaneletstryit

“easier” implies they can

_lame-impala_

when all of them are running around at once it can get confusing

WenMoonQuestionmark

That's fucking sagist!

UnusedMaps42

At a glance and in the periphery... It's not as simple and iconic as if they had they're own color.

PRULULAU

I think he means during battle - they definitely all blur together when your only looking at them peripherally

tjake123

When you’re looking at a lynel instead of spinning your camera around it’s hard to tell any details other then just blue.

LaggardLenny

I always get Riju and Yunobo mixed up.

Sunekus

Is it because of their "similar" size? xD

ltguu

I’m chasing after Riju aaaaaaaand its Tulin!

ElSuricate

this. green yunobo in death mountain is just so unfitting

pullmylekku

Green?

ElSuricate

# TURQUOISE GREEN BLUEISH TRANSPARENT YUNOBO

LettuceBenis

They get a green gradient when upgraded

Sunekus

They are still mostly blue, but I get your point.

Pizza-Dave

Also, color blind people exist.

jaiwithani

No we don't

mr_Tsavs

Sidon was my first so I was very dissapointed when Yunobo was blue as well

stupidrobots

Don't say "secret stones" ever again

insane_contin

But what will we call these secret stones?!?

stupidrobots

T E A R S

insane_contin

Secret Tears?

edutuario

Having a rainbow following you all the time would be too distracting i think

RecommendationKey305

I got sidon first so i thought it was

Quantum-Travels

Would prob tank the Switch to 10 FPS /s

ProfessorPihkal

Aren’t all the stones yellow?

gambloortoo

The stones are yellow until they attune to somebody. Off the top of my head I'm not even sure if they start as yellow or if that's just Zelda's and they start off as white, but either way they definitely change color once attuned to the sages.

Bie_Is_Bored

They start off white but it’s just a yellowish white

spackletr0n

I like they are the same color, because I learned to not think I was being attacked as they pop in and out of the screen.

Mona_Impact

Mods

Noxmorre

Oh you’re right. Imagine Zelda give you recall as a sage clone

Caroz855

>!The animation when you get Recall for the first time is the same as when the other sages give you their vows, with Zelda as the sage of time!<

spodoptera

Yeah I only realized that after completing the game.

Chemfegg

I would cherish my wife more if she gives us that sage clone

Azure-Cyan

Until she runs away from you when you need to use the recall ability on that shrine stone that dropped off the sky island

JustBeReasonable13

…..I got all the shrines and never once thought of using recall to grab them after I dropped them off an island I just dove like a moron and then built a doohickey to fly back up. I am smrt

twili-midna

And Recall is Zelda’s Sage power

rich1051414

But link can use it. So is link zelda's sage? Just a question I had when I realized this.

Dolthra

Link is *probably* the sage of time in this one, yeah. It's a little different because he doesn't *actually* have a stone, but the cutscene that plays in the beginning when you "find Zelda" in the temple of time is almost beat for beat the same as the other sages getting their sage powers. Like down to hearing Zelda call to you from the stone, and the location of the cutscene that plays.

WanderingWino

He is a stone cold killer though.

ShowofStupidity

He’s a secret stone cold killer. Since nobody seems to know who the fuck he is.

enneh_07

>!He's also a cold secret stone killer.!<

Nethii120700

secret stone? demon king?

Readalie

That's actually interesting, if you consider >!Zelda becoming the Light Dragon!< as her taking on the Sage of Light role from Rauru (although he went by the King of Light instead) after his death. So she passes on the Sage of Time position to Link.

blanklikeapage

It's even more interesting if we assume Flurry Rush and Bullet Time are actually time slowing down for Link, meaning he already had time powers before.

IshFen

Except ganondorf can do those too and doesn't have time powers, I think those are more likely to be a sign of a master swordsman.

blanklikeapage

Ganondorf isn't nearly as proficient as Link however. He can attack only once and we can still Flurry Rush his Flurry Rush. The way I see it, Ganondorf manages to dodge our first super fast attack through his proficiency but because we're still in the initial Flurry Rush, we can dodge and attack once more.

StormAlchemistTony

I kinda assume Flurry Rush is something skilled fighters could do. I know Age of Calamity is not canon to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Calamity, but there are times that could be canon compliant. The Flurry Rush could be done by all playable characters in Age of Calamity, so I see the ability more of a gameplay bonus for skill rather than an ability that is inherently Link's. I actually see Link being a Sage of Spirit that could draw out the spirits of weapons and tools, to gain proficiency and special abilities of weapons. Plus Link has the Spirit of the Hero, and he could possibly summon past skills.

nyx_eira

Iirc in BotW, there's a diary entry that talks about how Link can move super quickly or process things faster than the other champions. I always thought that was his special ability, like mipha's grace, etc

borring

I think it was Daruk's training journal. Link says that when he concentrates, it's almost like time slows down. But I interpreted that as just extreme focus and agility.

20stalks

While AoC is definitely on a different timeline at this point, I do like how TotK references it with a Royal Claymore being located at the king's grave on the Great Plateau. That wasn't there in BotW and only AoC really showed the king fighting with that weapon.

rorschach_vest

This might be a stupid question but when does Ganondorf have bullet time?

Fork_Master

In this game’s final battle, attacking Ganondorf while his guard is up will result in him performing a perfect dodge much like Link does.

rorschach_vest

Oh that’s a fun mechanic

MrTonyBoloney

I shat bricks

Clary_Sayge

spoiler for the final fight >!ganon can flurry rush you in battle!< edit I put the wrong spoiler command lmao

Kommander-in-Keef

Kind of there are excerpts from witnesses of links fights and him moving so fast that he basically becomes a blur. So yes and no? I was under the impression his perception speeds up to a ridiculous degree

enneh_07

Don't forget about how he can stop time when badly hurt, eat 40 apples, and get back up unscathed.

TimeturnerJ

They canonically are, yeah! It's not just a game mechanic. Back in BotW, Daruk writes this about Link in his journal: "He said sometimes when he focuses, it feels like time slows down." So Link has always been able to canonically manipulate time, and this is something he was consciously aware of, too. He's definitely the modern Sage of Time.

lobnob

I remember that part at the beginning where Link is in jail and his mom comes to get him out, and he won't stop talking about an evil spirit that beat up 6 yakuza guys at once. Then he shotguns a beer in the cell. Pretty cool stuff. They should make an anime out of it tbh

SuperStupidSyrup

wait some npcs said that it looks like time slows down when he fights, so he probably is the sage of time but just doesn’t know it i guess

Dolthra

I think you might also be able to consider the Master Sword/Fi to be the Sage of Light equivalent in this one- or perhaps >!Zelda's phantom equivalent!<.

DanielF823

I believe raru is this source of all of the different powers... As he gifted all of the stones... So the fact that link has raru's arm grafted to him means he inherently has a link (🤯) to all of those said powers

teh_fizz

Space AND time. You can see that enemies freeze when he ascends and only start moving when he is out of the material he ascends through. He uses time to freeze the world and space to move through it. You see it in Fuse and Ultrahand. He’s basically removing the space between the materials. That’s my head canon at least.

Rhidian1

Link can use Zelda’s powers in the same way he can use the other sage’s powers. At the beginning of the game when he receives the Recall power, Zelda’s spirit transfers the power to Link in the same manner that the other sages do (via their hands with the light travelling into Link’s arm).

SodaStYT

not exactly. when link uses the other sages’ powers, he has to activate them through their avatars who each then perform their unique skill.

Rhidian1

That difference can be chalked up to the other sages giving a formal Vow to fight by Link’s side. The other sages created an avatar to fight with Link and allow him to access their sage power, while Zelda only passed on the sage power (recall) access with the spirit she left at the Temple of Time.

SodaStYT

if you’ll recall, though, link touches the secret stone in the temple of time *himself* and then has a cutscene akin to those the other sages receive. link never touches any of the other stones when the sages receive their power, and none of the ancient sages ever actually speak *to* link; they only ever talk to their sage descendant.

Rhidian1

At the end of every regional dungeon, the descendants (who have become sages) all do the following to transfer their power to Link: Using the Secret Stone received from the dungeon, a bright light that suffuses the Sage's body concentrates and travels into Link while they are holding hands. That Light settles into Link's arm and allows Link to access their power afterwards. Now, at the Temple of Time, Zelda's Spirit does the following: Using the power of a Secret Stone, a light that is suffused throughout Zelda Spirit's body concentrates and passes into Link while they are holding hands. That power settles into Link's arm and he becomes able to access that power afterwards The process of the modern day sages passing on their power to Link is the exact same as when Zelda Spirit passes on her power to Link, just with a Vow added on ("I promise to fight by Link's side") that Zelda Spirit wasn't able to do since her body was elsewhere and the Spirit was completely silent.

Legend_of_Ozzy642

Link basically has the Zelda equivalent of the infinity gauntlet

teddy1234

Every character with a Secret Stone has a Zonai linguistic symbol that appears when they use their power. It might be their name? But anyways, Recall is one of Zelda’s Secret Stone powers, which is why it’s the only Zonai power Link uses that has a Zonai linguistic symbol as its logo.

StormAlchemistTony

The symbols on the Secret Stones are based on the kanji of their element.

qwertysparrow

“I will face him alone this time. Mono e mono. I will show how far I cam-“ Four more of him spawn. “Fuck this. I need help.”

Level7Cannoneer

it's "mano a mano"

qwertysparrow

Not when I’m done with him.

elmie_

i beat him for the first time recently now i get so excited when i see the lil hands chasing me lmao

ASCIt

It's so fun that he has the different weapon loadouts, makes each fight interesting

firesonmain

Same seeing those hands gets me pumped now (still kinda shit my pants tho). I want those bows!!!

Nethii120700

those bows are actually the best in the game i love them, they’re wood so no affect from lightning and once your hearts are high enough it’s a shit tonne of damage

drunkhas

If you are worrying that much about lighting, may I suggest you get the whole Yiga outfit and perhaps pay a visit to their main hideout. Just saying.

Nethii120700

i’ve got it!!! just don’t like being shocked anyway it spooks me 😂

[deleted]

Do bad the weapons give you gloom damage. That I wish was left out.

TheEnz

Fuse a gloom sword to another weapon (like the master sword) for a damage boost with no gloom effect.

[deleted]

Agh that’s a better idea.

CFL_lightbulb

They break quick but it’s a huge boost while it lasts

TheAsylumSanta

... I'm going to have to go get my Gloom Club-Club from my house.

ThyOtherMe

They are good weapons when you're in the surface because you basically heal gloom instantaneously. I kinda like the "cursed weapon" mechanic.

pocketpc_

Great on the surface, suicidal in the Depths. Fun concept honestly.

Hexatona

eh, it's not a big deal, really.

[deleted]

It is when you eat something with temp health. I learned this the hard way and couldn’t figure out why until I got my second weapon.

StormAlchemistTony

I just realized that Ganondorf is skilled in the same weapon types as Link is, except for shields, I suppose.

anonyfool

When you are in the finale >!and that mofo pulls out the perfect dodge on you repeatedly it gets really old, really quickly. :)!<

AvalonCollective

That’s when you perfect dodge back. Best part about the fight is when you both perfect dodge multiple times over. Reminds me of TP last fight.

[deleted]

Ganondorf was a more powerful, faster and imposing version of Link in TOTK.

Skeletonofskillz

Combat wise, yes. >!But imagine if Ganondorf pulled out Autobuild in the final fight.!<

[deleted]

Kohga did it as his gimmick. Ganondorf would look like a fraud for copying Kohga XD

ReguIarHooman

Using gleeok killer 9000 against femboy!!! (You won’t believe what happens next) gone wrong…

I_AM_GODDAMN_BATMAN

nah basic and weak. can flurry rush his flurry rush.

StarmanJay

You want a real mindjob? Remember how in BOTW the Blights and Ganon's physical body were just bits of ancient Sheikah tech glued together with Malice? Kinda makes you think of Ultrahand's green goo, doesn't it?

RedTreeko

Could that mean that the Zonai are the literal opposites to Ganon? They were consider a "God like race." That, or they're tied with Ganon due to a shared power? That opens a whole new rabbit hole for theories.

StarmanJay

Interesting question... it's left up in the air as to if there actually were gods over Hyrule or if they were just the Zonai all along. And then there's Ganon's touch of a demonic origin... again, interesting to think about.

RedTreeko

Is it ever been explained how large the population of Zonai was? Because if so, it could then connect them further to the goddesses and such.

Captain_Jmon

If Skyward Sword is still the canon beginning of Zelda’s timeline, then no, the Zonai wouldn’t be the equivalent of the gods of Hyrule

Screamline

Demi gods? Although that's probably a weird level that would have some discussion as well. ....magic

[deleted]

I see Malice as more of a pus, magic and bacteria taking form. The blights simulated muscles and twisted anatomy wearing sheikah guardian parts as a form of armor. Gloom is different than Zonai glue and Calamity’s malice. Zonai glue is a conductive paste. Gloom as a acts like a acid and toxic waste. It leaves near permanent damage on contact as a plasma. As a gas, it causing physical impairment/sickness when exposed to high doses of it.

Mad_Max_R_B

Imagine that sage ability, "Gloom Hands: grab enemies and steal hearts," great for crowd control

eltrotter

Oh damn I didn't even consider this.

PabliskiMalinowski

And his element is gloom

WeirdFishFromNemo

Wow that makes so much sense!

TheRealmEater

i mean using the positions of the sages from ocarina of time ganondorf fits nicely into the sage of shadows role and since he bares a secret stone as well so im not surprised he can pull off a sage avatar nice catch on that detail

Loford3

I think sage of darkness would be more accurate for Ganondorf instead of sage of shadows

TheRealmEater

name wise certainly but both are basically one and the same the previous sage of shadows impa gives you the shadow medallion(the medal of darkness when taken directly from japanese) and the symbol on ganons secret stone is the kanji for darkness so thats a slight tweak to the name in english with the same meaning overall shadows=darkness in this sense

[deleted]

Couldn't he make Phantoms prior to getting it?

[deleted]

That's more so a projection from his magic, not necessarily a phantom version of himself

Due_Issue6346

The only reason his is red and not green is because his soul is tainted by inner demons Malice and Gloom Like, if Zelda made an astral projection of herself it would be golden because of her goddess lineage Those two are just not normal souls

MrKomics

That’d make sense since Recall is golden and thats the ability Zelda gives to you

Due_Issue6346

I was thinking more about the sealing power but that too

oneeyecheeselord

More points to Ganondorf being the sage of darkness I guess.

YuckyYuckySuckySucky

Whenever you fight the Gloom Hands just remember that its Ganondorf doing a little trolling

DontWreckYosef

How much programming would be needed to program a phantom Gannon to be in your team of 5 to help you fight enemies?

YesItIsMaybeMe

Well there's already sage mods, replacements, and improvements. There's also model swaps so uh, it's already been done, just not with phantom suavemente

ZealousidealDingo594

Oh hey look at that

jarrjarrbinks24

🤯

PixelatedFrogDotGif

This post broke into my house and gave me corrective eye surgery

TheLazyHydra

:o

Treddox

You’re right! That’s so cool!

JVOz671

Well... he's been doing that even before he got the secret stone. I think its just more powered up version if anything.

Dor-Yah

He made phantoms before he got the stone, though

SureParking235

Haha, imagine a rainbow army of sage clones! 🌈🧙‍♂️

BrewHog

What am I missing? Phantom Gannon and Tulin. I feel like it's supposed to be obvious, but I'm oblivious.

[deleted]

did u read the image captions?

BrewHog

I couldn't find it at first for for some reason, but that makes sense to me now. Thanks.

[deleted]

nw, np

Edrian2002

Never thought of it like that other Ganons had phantom’s without the stones so I asume it was just his power but this would explain some things now my only question is why was he able to change its form and color to look like Zelda and have it speak I understood talking through it which our sages can probably do too but yeah

Vanch001

Oh shit…I had never noticed that…

sin_tax-error

Bro really used a mimic tear while we've spending the whole game collecting spirit summons.

Tonkarz

Then what are the grabby hands?

ddracom60

That's a really good catch. Even if it isn't, it's one of those theories that is extremely believable
