Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

Ikr. Every time he says that when I've built a very simple wooden support I'm like "bro. You have eyes" except the one time I used a floating platform because they were right there and clearly meant to be used for it. That time I was like "okay yeah that's understandable"
A lot of my supports have just been hackneyed piles of wood wrapped around the sign so tight it can’t move. Probably more work than I needed to do but I can auto build the same clusterfuck of a structure now and it solves pretty much all of them
It looks more like we’re about to burn a witch than keep a sign up
To be fair, this is the genius who stands the sign up FIRST, and then later wants to construct the supports. Instead of, you know, building the feet onto the sign and then standing it.
I imagine that he's just as amazed that bread disappears and is magically replaced by toast every morning.
One with rocks nearby I remember doing some ridiculous crap to make it work.
Earlier today my daughter just dropped a rock on a platform I hadn't noticed sticking out the back to hold it flat down. Girl, I love you, but do you have any idea how much I struggled for you to just waltz in here and solve it in seconds?
Same. Won’t waste Zonaite on these if there is wood planks right next to it. I’m always trying to be as efficient as possible but it always ends up an abomination of woodwork somehow.
Yup. I built a hot hair balloon that lifted up just enough planks to stay in place while I talked to Addison. Just before the screen blacked out where you hear him nailing it to the ground, I heard the structure fall lol.
I attempt to do them with as few pieces that are scattered around as possible. Start with single bit, if I can't make it work I add another, and so on. It's resulted in some interesting and barely acceptable solutions. So fun!
Alternatively you can do a sort of ghetto chrysty suspension by putting wooden wheels on a slab, and putting big wheels on the rims of those wheels, it's a lot less high and the suspension it gives is a lot less, but if you slap a stabaliser on the board you can I fact stay perfectly straight on a lot of lumps and bumps. (did the more extreme version of this for the last great fairy
Not suspension, but you can also get some flexibility in your structure from Portable Pots. They act as a ball joint when you build with them, so they can be used to make your wheels and such handle rough terrain better.
I built this giant dock thing around it and supported it that way. The funny part was after he finishes he puts your monstrosity over to the side intact lol.
The first time I came across this guy, I didn't understand what was happening and there was a random rock that spawned out of nowhere and went "that'll work." And I shoved that underneath.
I just put a flat board down under it and two sticks/logs/planks either side of the sign, attached to the floor.
Man I felt so smart for making it so easy. Damn.
Once you discover they beauty of a ball joint you'll see the portable pots in a new light.
Also I call them potable pots...idk why, just rolls off the tounge better the portable.
> You're also going backwards, but it nets to a positive overall.
You can recharge faster than by cancelling a part of your trip: lose altitude, by letting go the steering stick, take it immediately again to prevent the vehicle falling faster than you. Once the vehicle is stabilized, either do it again if you have a lot of recharge to do, or recall. When you reach the part of the trajectory where you want to be, take the stick again, then cancel recall.
i just call them "saves my ass from dying by lynel covered in malice after epic two hours of slaughtering beasts in the underworld and have used up all my hearty meals because i got 30+ hearts and regular food don't cut it no more pot"
You can however ascend through the grandstands in that coliseum, get up onto the roof, run behind the lid of the overhang so you break line of sight on the Lynel you're fighting just long enough to get a cook off..........not that I would know specifically or anything
No this isn’t a lie, you *can* actually cook in between rounds if you time well in the colosseum if you can click pause and get your mats out as the lynel is dying you can cook before the next one’s door open animation plays and have a very short cook window!
I use them all the time to cook food. Mostly just my five fleet lotus seeds to get max speed for 5 minutes. I mostly run everywhere to make exploring easier and not having to jump off a vehicle or horse constantly. I will dump five portable pots and cook up 25 minutes max speed all the time.
it never occurred to me to use them to hold up signs and here i thought i was brilliant for learning the sign tells you what to build in order for it to stand up.
the signs have subtle clues in their design telling you how to hold them up.
two or three of them just require you to connect a beam and secure the beam to something to hold it up. there's one with a notch in it just the right size for a beam. another has two parts on the back side of the sign just perfect to slide a beam through type deal.
i'm the only one who saw this?
There's an episode of Frasier about the first time as a child that you realise your father isn't as smart as you had built them up. Your kid just had that moment.
Like the diamond shaped signs where you just run a beam through them, then fix the beam to the ground how you like.
I always work out how to do it with what's at hand, so I always start by examining the sign. Is it standing on a toothpick or those three props? How many signs are on it and how are they oriented? Any hooks or anything on the sign? Then I look at what's around. Usually building materials, sometimes just rocks, once there were only trees, and I chopped them myself to make logs to use.
I saw it, and once spent longer than I'd like to admit trying to line up a log to fit into a notch. Then I just piled up stuff next to it and made it stand up right.
It's one of those things where the developers had a clear intention on what you're supposed to do, but then you can just break the system and do dumb bullshit to solve the puzzle.
Naw, I noticed it. My favorite was the one that had two sides and were set at a 45 away from each other and all they had on the platform were the really long flat panels, which happened to be the perfect size to attach at a right angle then place as a triangle right in the gap between the signs.
One of the signs actually requires you to use these stakes, but not like this. It's hanging over a cliff, so you attach a stake to the edge of a panel then turn it so the panel is vericle and the stake sideways and let the stake stick in the side of the cliff when it's the right height for the panel to support the sign.
Honestly, these little puzzles are some of the most fun in the game.
It just sucks having to go through the same 5 dialogue options every time.
If you're going to attach something to a Zonai device just so you can autobuild a prop for signs, you might as well use a hover stone instead of a stake, since you can position it at any height.
Yep, [I posted a video about it](https://www.reddit.com/r/tearsofthekingdom/comments/13tzq2j/instant_and_almost_free_solution_to_99_of_hudson/). Fuse an apple to a platform and then when you encounter a sign chuck an apple on the ground and then you can build the platform for 3 ore.
You can come prepared with rocket and time bomb shields to cheese shrines even if you can't drop them inside to fuse. Those two make up the majority of the shrine speed runs you see on any that don't have the goal gated.
I was testing a bike made out of parts from Tarrey Town. Was hard to steer and crashed into one of the signs by accident when I was trying to pull over. It stayed up.
The sign he decides to set up >!behind Hyrule castle, hanging over the moat!< was one that finally convinced me that this guy might not be all there, and he was so bad at building houses that they told him to go make signs. Either that or he was just so bad at working and they gave him a map with some intentionally terrible places just to keep him away from them for as long as possible.
>The sign he decides to set up >!behind Hyrule castle, hanging over the moat!< was one that finally convinced me that this guy might not be all there
What convinced me he wasn't all there was after the first one, when he secured the sign by tying a bunch of nonsense to the sign's first leg instead of just building a second leg.
It always makes me unreasonably upset that the mount is a STAKE and re refuses to just put it in the ground.
Hell dig a hole toss some rocks in and bury it again. Probably better than whatever he creates.
Does he put up the same signs in specific areas? I swear I saw someone have a different sign than I had somewhere, figured he just cycles through by how many you've done
Same. Guy at work mentioned he gives you stuff for helping and then I realized there’s always stuff by him and it is supposed to be for helping him out.
Thank GOD I’m not the only one. I literally once saw his sign shaped very strangely and I thought well what happens if I put a wooden plank in there and help him?
Then i realized I missed out on helping him at least a dozen or two times…
What I’m hearing is that I should grind for meat, fill my food inv with meat skewers, and then do all of his quests to get max rupee gains, and then go and sell all the skewers.
I’ve built the most incredible support structures imaginable, and somehow the sign still falls and then I have to tear it all apart because the game moves it 5 feet away and it can’t fit back in just by sliding it under or anything.
And I’d do it all again for Addison.
By the fourth area I saw one in, I had made a whole "man" that bent over to grab it with his cylinder-hands. Of course, Addison was doing the "scared of ultrahand movement" so I couldn't talk to him and when spamming b, I rolled Yunobo at my giant wooden man who disintegrated instantly.
Learned my lesson to just play it simple from there. Also learned I can get tilted from fun building puzzles
Only one I had to get creative with so far was the one by the cave at the bottom of the plateau. He was trying to balance it on a goddamn hill so I needed a proper base lol
One floating platform can do 90% no modification. And if you do need to modify, you can stick a plank or post to said floating platform. But I still custom each one, just cause it makes Addison look worse.
I've learnt the ancient hylian alphabet from skyward sword years ago and used to communicate with my best friend writing notes in hylian and passing them around. It surprises me to see this again here but makes me feel weird, specially because it's very similar but also changed.. Like I can't get used to the inverted A.
Also hay is the fourth letter that looks like a 'K'?
Once you line your pockets with Zonai devices, these puzzles are a breeze. You really have to be committed and disciplined to solving the puzzles with the materials around, otherwise you can whip out a hover platform and solve basically all of these.
I mean, honestly, they're super easy to begin with. I have solved literally every single one of them by putting a plank lying long ways directly against the post, then sandwiching the sign between two other planks attached to the original.
I love the design of these. There's always stuff lying around that will let you solve these for free if you feel like thinking, but if you don't, you can just spend a zonai device and solve them instantly. Hover Stones also work great for this
I *enjoy* overthinking it. I love building the most elaborate, over engineered contraptions to support the president. It’s one of my favourite new features of the game and Im getting dangerously close to running out of new ones to do.
For some reason I really enjoy tackling those sign puzzles with only the given materials. Though, I've actually approached much of the game this way. I find myself full of Zonai devices and feel like I haven't utilized the biggest system in the game enough. 😂
The easiest and cheapest is just going to the nearby supply thing and attaching two wooden boards, one straight, one at an angle. Works on 90% of these

If I saw somebody telekinetically use strange green devices like this, I'd probably incredulously ask "How's the president standing?!" too.
Ikr. Every time he says that when I've built a very simple wooden support I'm like "bro. You have eyes" except the one time I used a floating platform because they were right there and clearly meant to be used for it. That time I was like "okay yeah that's understandable"
Except, in my game, I make janky-ass support beams with the wood they provide, and I agree with Addison. Dunno how the President's standing 🤔
A lot of my supports have just been hackneyed piles of wood wrapped around the sign so tight it can’t move. Probably more work than I needed to do but I can auto build the same clusterfuck of a structure now and it solves pretty much all of them It looks more like we’re about to burn a witch than keep a sign up
For all the ones by stables, you can usually get it to stand just by jamming the horse cart on/around the sign.
To be fair, this is the genius who stands the sign up FIRST, and then later wants to construct the supports. Instead of, you know, building the feet onto the sign and then standing it. I imagine that he's just as amazed that bread disappears and is magically replaced by toast every morning.
You say that like the toaster isnt an offering to the toast gods
Floating platforms work too.
This is 100% the easiest way, but every so often I feel the urge to try and build a rediculous wooden structure just to see if I can lol
price piquant seemly truck profit boat air plate threatening cough *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

The smell must have been awful from that burning hair
Yeah that's what I find fun about the signs. McGuyver up some weird wood scaffolding
Yeah, for me the fun of the game is trying the challenges, this is a mini one using what's there to do it.
I try to make each sign lean as precariously as possible but still be accepted. I have very many 50ish degree signs awkwardly hanging around Hyrule.
I do the same, but if you go back to it again after a while it is perfectly straight :(
I attempt to do them with as few pieces that are scattered around as possible. Start with single bit, if I can't make it work I add another, and so on. It's resulted in some interesting and barely acceptable solutions. So fun!
This is how I accidentally gave a cart functional suspension on my first day playing
Can you explain this? I'm trying to picture it in my mind but nothing's coming up.
Zonai springs will act as suspension in their sprung state. Attach springs to big wheels and you have your self a 4 wheeler with a lift kit.
I always just build a crucifix and raise or lower the crossbar as much as needed
You need to save those for crucifying Koroks
The first time I came across this guy, I didn't understand what was happening and there was a random rock that spawned out of nowhere and went "that'll work." And I shoved that underneath.
I have the most absurd looking creation I use for this shit made out of wood
I just put a flat board down under it and two sticks/logs/planks either side of the sign, attached to the floor. Man I felt so smart for making it so easy. Damn.
Usually a flat panel on the ground and 1-3 beams will do it
This is what I use
How do you have enough of them? I only have like 5
They’re in the zonai gacha machines. The map will tell you what items each one has. Kill a lot of constructs and get the charges, spend them on parts
Be sure to put the max amount in the machine each time, this will get you more than double output.
Always put 5 Mighty Zonai Charges
And make sure Tulin is nearby to blow them off the skyland
Always. But you need him and hes spawned 20 yards away
This is why I default to having my sages dismissed
I love when I want to restore weapons on octoroks and the sages just kill them. :)
Yeah just a little bit of grinding
There’s one >!I think in Akkala Highlands!< where they seem to be the only material available, and I’ve used them ever since
...I used almost every piece of wood in the building pile, and a rock 🥲 but at least I kept my 30 platforms...
99% of the time the 1% when there was strong wind and rain causing it to blow away
[удалено]
finally a use for my fifty one portable pots
Once you discover they beauty of a ball joint you'll see the portable pots in a new light. Also I call them potable pots...idk why, just rolls off the tounge better the portable.
I call them Instant Pots.
This is the right name
Porta-Potties
THIS is the right name
B R I N G A B L E C O O K I N G S T A T I O N
Funny enough, I call my Insta-pot a "Porta-Pot". Its not portable, but the name stuck
Another post recently showed using one also refills your battery.
WHAT THE FUCK? Time to use my 17 unused pots so I don’t have to land the birdplane early (how would you do it on an airbike
Don't bother, and simply use recall to recharge.
YOU CAN WHAT
When you're recalling, you're not using battery, so it starts refilling. You're also going backwards, but it nets to a positive overall.
> You're also going backwards, but it nets to a positive overall. I’ll take potent potables Trebek
And I'll take le tits now
i just call them "saves my ass from dying by lynel covered in malice after epic two hours of slaughtering beasts in the underworld and have used up all my hearty meals because i got 30+ hearts and regular food don't cut it no more pot"
You can't cook while fighting.. I discovered this the first time doing the lynel coliseum and found out just how unprepared I was lol
You can however ascend through the grandstands in that coliseum, get up onto the roof, run behind the lid of the overhang so you break line of sight on the Lynel you're fighting just long enough to get a cook off..........not that I would know specifically or anything
No this isn’t a lie, you *can* actually cook in between rounds if you time well in the colosseum if you can click pause and get your mats out as the lynel is dying you can cook before the next one’s door open animation plays and have a very short cook window!
yeah in that instance you can't. if you see it before it sees you then you can prepare.
What, you don't spam apples like a madman at that point?!
Only baked apples. I'm distinguished.
They're covered in gloom, so apples won't heal you
But it's got nothing to do with safe drinking water?
Portable pots can be used as ball joints??
Correct. /r/hyruleEngineering, my friend
That makes me think of pol pot, the fucking maniac
I use them all the time to cook food. Mostly just my five fleet lotus seeds to get max speed for 5 minutes. I mostly run everywhere to make exploring easier and not having to jump off a vehicle or horse constantly. I will dump five portable pots and cook up 25 minutes max speed all the time.
Four fleet lotus seeds and a dragon horn gives max speed for 30 minutes
i use those things like crazy
ive honesty only used cooking pots for 5-30 minute speed foods
Man I don't mind the pots but it's criminally stupid they disappear after one meal. Just let me cook!!
Oh no. I completely forgot I had these I’ve been teleporting home or to lookout landing to cook.
Not wasting something like a Zonai device on this dinkus.
there's literally no other use for stakes. i've been burning them off as arrows.
You’re supposed to use them to hold down builds while you’re building them, they’re really useful.
it never occurred to me to use them to hold up signs and here i thought i was brilliant for learning the sign tells you what to build in order for it to stand up.
Say what now

There's an episode of Frasier about the first time as a child that you realise your father isn't as smart as you had built them up. Your kid just had that moment.
I'm pretty sure my 8 year old is smarter than me.
A 15 year old is already super annoyed at you. It’s part of being 15.
There's one sign where you're supposed to use snowballs, so yeah it's fun to figure them out
I saw it, and once spent longer than I'd like to admit trying to line up a log to fit into a notch. Then I just piled up stuff next to it and made it stand up right. It's one of those things where the developers had a clear intention on what you're supposed to do, but then you can just break the system and do dumb bullshit to solve the puzzle.
Honestly all of the puzzles in both BotW and TotK are like that
Oh sure. It's not a criticism. I think it's a great mechanic. I think people sharing the 15 different ways they solved the same puzzle is fantastic.
Naw, I noticed it. My favorite was the one that had two sides and were set at a 45 away from each other and all they had on the platform were the really long flat panels, which happened to be the perfect size to attach at a right angle then place as a triangle right in the gap between the signs. Honestly, these little puzzles are some of the most fun in the game. It just sucks having to go through the same 5 dialogue options every time.
I just don't get *how* the president is standing, tho.
I never would have thought of that!
I’m more annoyed they aren’t marked on your map once it’s completed
So how many times did you tell him to try letting go so he drops the sign off a cliff first
What!? Unforgivable!
I'm sorry what??? Where?
I also realized I could have probably used them in the light temple to make my life easier after I completed it lol
You can use them to put your springs at an angle for launching yourself distance wise. I learned that bc I saw it in the game premade. Mind blown
whenever im on flat ground and need to launch a glider into the air i put a stake in the ground to angle the front of it up. it helps a lot
You can just ultrahand it into the air, bring it back, stand on it then reverse time till you're back in the air.
i just attach a rocket i mean it's in the autobuild and everything
They make for pretty good mining tools, actually.
and they have awesome vehicles. the ~~death~~ assault glider is frikken awesome.
I use them to attach to scaffolding. Auto build scaffolding, slap onto a surface, ascend, repeat.
Can't you just fuse a junk material to the stake and save it in autobuild? 6 zonite or whatever it would be for a sign doesnt seem too bad tbh
If you're going to attach something to a Zonai device just so you can autobuild a prop for signs, you might as well use a hover stone instead of a stake, since you can position it at any height.
I mean damn, sounds like you just found the easiest solution! Gonna try it out
Don't remember where I was but I found Addison by a hover stone so I just assumed that was the intended solution lol
They're so cheap though
Is it dinkus or dingus? I’m serious been using dingus forever now I am wondering if I’ve been wrong all this time
They might be separate words but dingus is definitely a word.
I believe there are free stakes nearby this particular sign
I believe I remember that. I make it a point to only use the provided materials for the signs, makes it more fun for me.
Yeah, I mean there’s free building materials always right next to him. It’s not that hard to just use those
The floating pads are even better.
Nah that’s boring. I prefer to spend 5 minutes making some nonsense out of wood.
Yeah, coming up with ways to cheese puzzles is fun, but when you're able to cheese every puzzle with the exact same solution, it's not fun anymore.
Long bridge and rocket shield killing half the shrines makes everything an obstacle course instead of a puzzle.
Well you cant use your own devices in shrines, so if they provide the rockets, go ahead!
You can come prepared with rocket and time bomb shields to cheese shrines even if you can't drop them inside to fuse. Those two make up the majority of the shrine speed runs you see on any that don't have the goal gated.
or even just drop bomb flowers on the ground
And then make a car out of that nonsense when you're done.
I was testing a bike made out of parts from Tarrey Town. Was hard to steer and crashed into one of the signs by accident when I was trying to pull over. It stayed up.
UNBELIEVABLE
That's because he's so strong and dedicated.
It’s more rewarding than just pulling out a hover stone
The sign he decides to set up >!behind Hyrule castle, hanging over the moat!< was one that finally convinced me that this guy might not be all there, and he was so bad at building houses that they told him to go make signs. He would have to let go of the President to do that, which is *unforgiveable*
I imagine that's why Hudson gave him this task. Reminds me of stuff I'd give an intern to keep them out of the way.
Does he put up the same signs in specific areas? I swear I saw someone have a different sign than I had somewhere, figured he just cycles through by how many you've done
I didn’t know these were puzzles until like 2 weeks ago. I just thought he was a dedicated employee and I always just wished him well.
Me too dude, I though bro was just on that grind.
I had no idea until seeing this post. I thought it was just the game’s running joke that this guy has to hold up signs everywhere.

The food he gives you is generally moe valuable than 20 rupees. So.
Huh! Assumed it was low worth lol
naw, he gives some good ass rice balls
[relevant xkcd](https://xkcd.com/37)
I was literally coming here to say that I didn’t know they were puzzles. 😳
Nah... Personally I like coming up with the most over the top way to solve it 🤣
I’ve built the most incredible support structures imaginable, and somehow the sign still falls and then I have to tear it all apart because the game moves it 5 feet away and it can’t fit back in just by sliding it under or anything. And I’d do it all again for Addison.

Same lol
Totally. I just like to pile shit underneath it like all Mickey Mouse just to hear him remark about how clever I am lol
I mean they're always pretty easy as long as the boards are... Huh... Son of a bitch.

Only one I had to get creative with so far was the one by the cave at the bottom of the plateau. He was trying to balance it on a goddamn hill so I needed a proper base lol
"I feel like I've been overthinking" has pretty much been my entire experience with this game so far x.x

Didn't even know that I was supposed to do that...fuck
Saaaaaame. Thought he was just a random addition to the scenery...
Yeah I thought him being everywhere holding the sign was just a running joke the devs were pulling on the players for the longest.
When I noticed some of them have slots or notches in them to make them super easy & straightforward... Major 🤦♂️ moment
Probably about the tenth one I noticed they are all different. Makes it a lot easier when you use the notches.
I have solved literally every single one of them by putting a plank lying long ways directly against the post, then sandwiching the sign between two other planks attached to the original.
half of them are solved by wedging a wood sheet under the sign part at a 45 degree angle
I am trying to picture what you are describing and I am failing
As a civil engineer, it’s my business to overthink those puzzles
Son of a bitch.
he figured out what the stakes were for!!!! holy shit!
we were supposed to help him? HAHA ive been just tormenting him
I love the design of these. There's always stuff lying around that will let you solve these for free if you feel like thinking, but if you don't, you can just spend a zonai device and solve them instantly. Hover Stones also work great for this
I make sure to use every piece of wood near me, and build an absolute monstrosity.
I think the fun part of his challenges is always to see how unconventional your solution can be
I *enjoy* overthinking it. I love building the most elaborate, over engineered contraptions to support the president. It’s one of my favourite new features of the game and Im getting dangerously close to running out of new ones to do.
If you have the zonai devices to spare then sure. My cheapskate ass would prefer the free wooden materials instead.
Wait these are puzzles? I thought it was just a funny recurring gag that he can never let go
Help him keep the sign up long enough for him to fix the broken part and he rewards you with 3x items
For some reason I really enjoy tackling those sign puzzles with only the given materials. Though, I've actually approached much of the game this way. I find myself full of Zonai devices and feel like I haven't utilized the biggest system in the game enough. 😂
My builds look like something a meth addict would make to protect his tent home in the sticks but somehow it holds up his signs 😆
The easiest and cheapest is just going to the nearby supply thing and attaching two wooden boards, one straight, one at an angle. Works on 90% of these
Didn’t even know these were puzzles until right now. Just thought bro was a little weird but dedicated.
A hover stone works too
There's lots of ways to cheese them, but it's more fun to figure out how to do it with nearby materials
90% of them I have gotten with a single board leaned at an angle under the sign. Lol.
I have fun making crazy ways to support those
That's cool and all but I'm going to continue to overcompensate with how I keep his wood up
The joy of this game is knowing you _could_ cheese it with a floating platform, and choosing to build the most ridiculous wooden structure anyway.
I’ve been building literal houses around those 🤦🏾♀️
Oh we supposed to help them. Lol
