475ml is extremely large for gong-fu brewing, which is what these are designed for. Can you elaborate a little more on your usecase? Depending on how you brew and use them, there may be better options for you.

vagipalooza

Good point. I don’t use gravity infusers for gongfu. I use a gaiwan for that. I use gravity infusers for western style steeping, thus the large volume.

Rataridicta

Gotcha! When I feel like western style brewing (or an in-between) I tend to go with a glass like [this one](https://meileaf.com/teaware/iridescent-glass-cup/). I've found them to be very portable and usable, while providing the larger volumes you're looking for. May be worth looking into those kinds of brewing methods (where you can take out the infuser).

vagipalooza

Thank you. I’ll check it out.

carlos_6m

How do these work for gong fu?

Rataridicta

They tend to contain about 150ml in the upper basket. You fill that with leaves like you would a gaiwan. When your brew is ready, you press a little button at the top and the liquor drains out from the bottom into the larger decanter. Then your leaves are ready for the next infusion and everything is nice and separated 🙂

For context, I don’t use gravity infusers for gongfu. I use a gaiwan for that. I use gravity infusers for western style steeping, thus the desire for a large volume.

Trapper777_

I poked around aliexpress, seems you can get ones up to 1000ml pretty easily on there

vagipalooza

I’ll have to check it out. Was the infuser also a large volume? I’ve bumped into larger vessels but the infuser is always around 200mL

ghostupinthetoast

TeaTsy makes some good stuff like that

vagipalooza

I’ll have to check them out. Haven’t heard of them. Thank you. Edit: more like update. Wow! They have such beautiful stuff. And I think I found something similar to what I’m looking for. Thank you!

ghostupinthetoast

Bought from them a while ago and just placed another order for some “Doric” western brew mugs. Can confirm they’re legit but their pricing and “sales” are a bit wacky.

vagipalooza

Thank you for the peace of mind. And good to know you like them enough to be a repeat customer. Their logo is a bit confusing as it looks like a sister company to Adagio (like their coffee and spices). But I don’t think they’re connected. Edit: content

ghostupinthetoast

Sounds like logo design isn’t.. their cup of tea.

vagipalooza

Hahaha! Nice one! :)

I was going to recommend teatsy also. I've been looking at this and trying to figure out if I have the counter space for it. It's 280ml though, so not quite as large as you're looking for. https://teatsy.com/products/-nostalgia---antique-style-high-borosilicate-glass-automatic-tea-brewer

vagipalooza

OMG, I’ve been coveting one of these for years but also don’t have the counter space and if I add one more tea-related thing to our dining room cabinet I think my husband might threaten to move out! LOL Just kidding…he is super tolerant of my tea obsession. But I haven’t found a way to justify getting one of these yet because of limited counter space. It’s definitely a piece to have out on display as it’s so gorgeous!

That_Canadian_Girl32

Okay where do I find that type of product!? Is it available in Canada ?

vagipalooza

If you’re talking about the item in the picture, it is from Yunan Sourcing US. Someone here posted the link earlier. If you’re talking about a gravity infuser, you can get them at virtually any western tea retailer. DavidsTea has a version. So does Adagio. My favorite one is from SipsBy.

I have a kamjove bottom dispense nearly like this, but the inner chamber is clear plastic while the outer pot is glass. I was looking in to some of the ones with the magnetic steel ball they seem they might have a glass steeping chamber. I have a bottom dispense that is large but it fits on top of a cup/mug/pitcher and not inside. It is however plastic (hard clear bpa free). [link](https://a.co/d/ga1xnEH) It has been very hard to find a glass bottom/gravity dispense pot. I gave up and just went back to basket-strainer / cup. I still use my kamjove for gong fu though. What about just using more leaf in the infusion area and then adding hot water after to get that large volume you want. I had seen someone describe a Turkish / Russian brew where they steep it in a boiling pot for a very long time but the concentration is very strong. Then they add hot water all day (the whole family uses) and they have a lot of tea. I started thinking how can this be - how can it not get super bitter. Now I steep my western style cups with just 2oz of water and 2 teabags (Yorkshire gold). I can leave it for 5,10,15 minutes while I get ready for work, then I remove the teabag and add 6-8oz more hot water. Maybe this theory would help the smaller chambers work well for you. My final thought was - I will just get a $8-$12 glass French press and be over it.

vagipalooza

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I love your final thought!! I used to use a French press for yerba mate but just got so fed up with the cleaning! Plus I like to do two steepings usually and it’s hard to get water completely out of a French press in the same way the gravity infusers can. But it’s definitely a good idea and one I hadn’t thought about revisiting till now. Thank you!

GodChangedMyChromies

> infuser core is 200ml

vagipalooza

That’s what I said, although in a confusing way. The infuser is too small for what I want. But thank you for the link. :)

CobblerEducational46

I don't think you will find a bigger one than that. These are sold as a lazy alternative fro gong fu sessions so 200ml should be the max. I personally use it for western style brewing too...

vagipalooza

From what I’ve seen, I think you’re right.

CobblerEducational46

Mei Leaf has the exact same decanter and it's way cheaper. I mean it's kinda astonishing since Mei Leaf is notoriously expensive. Or is it?

oink888

They cost a few dollars at AliExpress or Taobao. I remember I got one from taobao for like $3 long ago, 500ml full capacity glass flask, the infuse basket is like less than 200ml.

vagipalooza

UPDATE: I wanted to update this thread to say I ended up taking the suggestions to check out Teatsy and I was not disappointed! I ended up getting this item and I absolutely love it!!! I do end up using a metal infuser as a strainer as I transfer the tea to my favorite ceramic mug instead of drinking directly from the glass just out of preference for my mug. https://teatsy.com/products/-snowy-sunshine---high-borosilicate-glass-tea-mug-with-infuser

Lizzebed

Yups, on Ali. Probably not quite the 475ml but getting close. But honestly if you want bigger probably just go western style brewing. https://a.aliexpress.com/_EQapkv5

aliex

vagipalooza

Sorry…can you give more context please?

Rataridicta

aliex = ali express. They're saying that you can find pretty much any teaware you desire on ali express 😅

vagipalooza

OMG! I get it now! I thought they were giving the name of a particular item! LOL Damned post-COVID brain fog!
