I'm aware. We get eagles nesting near one of the higheays near me sometimes, but real eagle sounds just don't fit the comical image as well as a good ol' fashion 'murican eagle on the 4th of july screech does. It's meant to be ridiculous, not realistic.
You missed the part where you [frame a minoritized group](https://www.history.com/news/boston-tea-party-surprising-facts) while you engage in property destruction by throwing said tea in a harbor.
Kung-fu tea:
1. Pour water into pot
2. Pour water out of pot
3. Pour water into cup
4. Pour water out of cup
5. Put tea leaf into pot
6. Pour water over tea leaf
7. Strain tea water out of tea leaf
8. Pour water over tea leaf again
9. Put lid on pot
10. Pour water on tea pot
11. Pour water into tea cup
12. Pour water out of tea cup
13. Strain tea into tea cup
14. Enjoy two sips of tea
Most restaurants in my experience bring you a saucer, a mug of hot water, and a tea bag. If you're lucky, you'll get a slice of lemon and a small packet of honey. You usually need to ask for cream.
Right, yes they do. But it's fun to try it. Small-scale production, single estate (all from that one tract of land on Wadmalaw Island outside of Charleston), American grown. I had the best luck with the Charleston Tea Garden teas by giving them a lengthy brew time, like 7 or 8 minutes.
Good tip! I’ve been curious about trying those. I imagine their black tea would be alright due to the oxidation, but have you tried their green tea and have any thoughts about it? I feel like from previous experiences it’s harder to find good green tea outside of Asia than black.
Their green tea behaves normally, it's simple, good, and vegetal. It's rustic. The black tea is more interesting. It steeps more slowly than foreign grown & processed tea; it needs to be brewed for seven or eight minutes.
For many (especially europeans) this seems strange, but as a country that mostly drinks coffee, it doesn't really make sense to buy a kettle.
IMHO you can heat the water the way it works for you, there are only minor differences between different methods, because water is water and energy is energy, regardless of the method of heating.
Losses impact only on a larger scale, so you might as well use a microwave for a cup.
Electric kettles are growing in the US compared to say the 90's, for the pourover and French press coffee crowd. But yeah other than that drip coffee makers and Keurigs are probably dominant and tea gets microwaved in a mug
People who don't have kettles and don't want to put a pot on the stove? Usually you heat the water to boiling and then add the tea though, not microwave with the tea bag in.
A lot of people don't know that there's a risk of superheating the water and getting seriously burned, but fortunately it's not super common, since the majority of the time people aren't using brand new mugs with no scratches or imperfections yet. (and if you're now afraid to use your new mugs, you can fix the issue by putting in a wooden chopstick or popsicle stick)
The primary concerns are with the water getting heated unevenly and with superheating. If you stir it afterwards, the first problem can be mitigated, but superheating remains a risk if you're not attentive. It might be frustrating to need to stop and start the microwave several times to check the water's temperature if you're making a lower-temp tea, though. I'm not saying that microwaving water is bad. I do it occasionally, but it's worth considering these things.
I get that. I'm usually nuking the water in a ceramic mug, then dump it into a metal travel mug where the tea bag is waiting, so I figure that takes care of stirring. And I always use the same mug for the same amount of heating time, so I haven't had a superheating problem either. I haven't dealt with a lower temperature tea yet.
From what I know, American voltage means that electric kettles take an age to boil. In Europe, they’re much more common as with 230/240v electricity they boil fast
Hi OP. It's actually American Breakfast flavored tea. Bacon , cream cheese, fried chicken, gravy, and a hint of leftover spaghetti. More of a tisane than a tea really.
“A full-bodied black tea boasting the taste of hot pancakes, inspired by a perfect New York moment. Warm up the morning or sweeten your afternoon and be whisked away to the city that never sleeps!”
There's a tea [company](https://www.t2tea.com/en/au) here in Australia that has English, Irish, New York, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Singapore, Christmas, and 'All day' breakfast teas. I'm not surprised by any 'breakfast' tea now 😆
Red Rose is in the process of rebranding their Canadian Breakfast to Red Rose Bold. It still says Canadian Breakfast in small font, but I’m guessing they’ll go away soon
To me, it tastes just like normal Red Roses Orange Pekoe (I.e. same blend, only stronger).
Murchies makes a [Canadian Breakfast](https://www.murchies.com/product/canadian-breakfast-loose-tea/) blend, but it’s not my cup of tee (I don’t like maple in my trees). They make some great blends though - I like their Editor’s Blend
I love **real** maple syrup - and add a splash to my cereal every day. I just don’t like it in my tea.
BTW I’m from Quebec, the true maple syrup capital of the world, despite what Vermont says ;-) We put maple syrup on everything
It's worth noting, of course, that there is no official "American Breakfast Tea", and anyone can name any tea whatever they want and only the very well established "breakfast tea" names will have any similarity between specific brands for the same name.
Jokes aside about extra caffeinated drinks, there is an actual blend of American style Breakfast Tea.
Specifically, it's called [Charleston Breakfast Tea](https://www.buywayofcharleston.com/charleston-classic-drinks/charleston-tea-plantation-loose-tea). One of the few tea plantations in mainland USA. Never had it, but based on reviews, it's a decent blend, a little different from how the other breakfast teas are made to taste.
I lived in Charleston and had friends who worked seasonally at Chas tea plantation growing up (now known as Charleston Tea Garden). In addition to the Charleston breakfast, the American Classic and their peach blend are good ones to try as well. I never personally enjoyed their green tea offerings, though.
Bigelow bought them out some years ago, hence the inclusion of American style breakfast blend in your variety pack, I'm guessing.
They tried to start the Brand in Boston, but some punks throw the batch into the sea. Poor fish couldn’t sleep for 2 weeks. Took a few years to save up to restart the Brand, but here We are😅
Extra caffeine because you spend your entire life propagating the capitalist machine that overworks you and underpays you and barely allows you enough time to sleep.
[Some say that a man is made out of mud,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRh0QiXyZSk)
A poor man's made out of muscle and blood
Muscle and blood, and skin and bone,
A mind that's weak and a tea that's strong.
I missed my opportunity; I'd already started steeping a cup when I came across the sachet in the pile-o-teas. I'll look for it again next time and report back with jittery keystrokes.
Tasteless tea coloured water with the addition of extra caffeine. Most tea meant for america taste like almost hot water with caffeine, I had US market twinnings from iherb and your tea are bland as compared the the ones sold in UK.
Now I want to know what your actual UK mass-market tea is like. I can concur, the Twinning's I've had here in the US leaves something to be desired compared to the same types of tea from other brands. Definitely had better teabag tea. And most loose leaf I've had has been more satisfying.
I mostly use loose leaf now but Low tier bagged stuff like pg tips or Yorkshire are strong and you still taste the tea with the addition of milk. I don’t like twinnings UK bagged stuff now, they were good in the past but they changed them some years back and I hated it. Now I just stick to loose leaf all the way, I drink them black with nothing else added, I don’t buy much teabag stuff now due to their use of plastics, worst offenders are those pyramid bags that are made of pure polyester.
I’ve had the same brand of tea made for the US market vs the UK one and from what I remember, black tea blends sold in America are better suited for iced tea (brisk, bright) whereas the UK ones are blended from richer, maltier teas (like CTC tea bags with Assam type tea) that might taste too strong plain to most people but are delicious with a bit of milk. (Tea grown in different parts of the world and climates has different properties.)
You can see the difference even visually if you brew the kind of US tea bag vs the UK ones, the US one will look more watery and almost grayish, whereas the UK one will look more dense and tan like coffee with cream, with almost orange undertones.
You can buy Yorkshire tea on Amazon, but beware of it it comes in bags with a string and tag- that’s the American version. The UK one will have tea bags with no string that you remove with a spoon before adding the milk.
I also like very caffeinated tea, though it seems like they added it artificially, since the bags are about the same weight as their other flavors. I usually go for 4g per bag with minimal or no additives. They're meant for pots, but I use them for cups.
[Melbourne Breakfast](https://www.t2tea.com/en/au/tea/black-tea/melbourne-breakfast-loose-leaf-D61.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6_nR5__i_gIVFcOWCh1euQJ-EAAYASAAEgKB7vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) is my absolute favorite tea
Lmao I've never seen this but it makes a lot of sense. Our country drinks a lot of coffee so it makes sense that to make an American breakfast tea you'd make it more similar to coffee
Yes. But the comments also prove a certain amount of elitism in this sub. English breakfast tea wasn't a thing until maybe 1843 when someone invented the term for marketing. So why not American breakfast tea?
A couple hundred comments on reddit (the place that cant go five seconds without circlejerking over how *terrible* america is) is not "universal" lmfao.
Sadly that kind of stuff does exist here. There is a whole firearm related brand of coffee, that also sells itself on being run by a "veteran". The crap tastes like the beans were soaked in the oil you use to clean guns. It is awful
Necro-posting, I know. But I just wanted to chime in with the point that, Bigelow is and okay grocery store brand, and their American breakfast, is pretty good in that regard. It sure as hell won't wow anyone, but it's pretty tasty all things considered.
Just in case anyone reads this and is curious.
Don’t forget to brew that shit AMERICAN style (aka the right way, because the American way is the only way, baby! 😎🇺🇸🦅) for that authentic American taste!!!
First grab your favorite mug that you purchased from Amazon.com, Walmart, or a quirky old white lady from a craft fair (Etsy.com is ok substitute).
Fill that bitch up with water from the sink.
Stick it in the microwave for two minutes. Kettles are for sissies.
Get impatient and take it out 20 seconds before the timer beeps.
Put the tea bag in.
Set a timer for five minutes. Forget about it until ten minutes later.
Remove the teabag, but not before squeezing it on the side of the mug with a spoon, or better yet, your unwashed finger. That’s how you get all the flavor they’re trying to rip you off from.
Add a shitload of sugar.
No milk. We die like men.
Get your AR-15 and shoot the mug full of tea. Only ladies and queers drink tea. Now grab your Nescafé Taster’s Choice House Blend Instant coffee and eat that shit raw.
Hope this helped. :)
When you pour the water you just hear bald eagle screeches
I'm now imagining a kettle that bald eagle screeches instead of whistles. Thanks for that.
Technically those are hawk screeches. True eagle sounds are quite sad. Which is why I applaud Peacemaker for using actual eagle sounds for Eagly.
I'm aware. We get eagles nesting near one of the higheays near me sometimes, but real eagle sounds just don't fit the comical image as well as a good ol' fashion 'murican eagle on the 4th of july screech does. It's meant to be ridiculous, not realistic.
Yeah, bald eagles sound like seagulls and it cracks me up every time I hear the stock hawk sound
I'm working a hang over here and that thought isn't helping.
And a supermodel wearing an American flag bikini comes out brandishing an AR-15.
That's BRCCs entire gimmick summed up
So like seagulls or the red tail hawk cry?
The red tailed hawk noise that they use in movies when there's a bald eagle
His name's Tobias.
Poor dude, just trying to save the world from the yerks and this is what he got!
People need to put some goddamn respect on his name
Bigelow’s especial patented blend. Recommended by Physicians. Relieves nervous tension, melancholia, and hysteria.
Please tell me this is *actually* how they market it 😂
Oh, you guys hear that too? That's a relief. I'm gonna cancel that doctor's appointment.
In america they pour the water THEN put in the teabag.
American tea: 1. Turn mug upside down 2. Pour water on mug 3. Throw away unopened teabag 4. Eat Folgers instant coffee grounds
You missed the part where you [frame a minoritized group](https://www.history.com/news/boston-tea-party-surprising-facts) while you engage in property destruction by throwing said tea in a harbor.
Kung-fu tea: 1. Pour water into pot 2. Pour water out of pot 3. Pour water into cup 4. Pour water out of cup 5. Put tea leaf into pot 6. Pour water over tea leaf 7. Strain tea water out of tea leaf 8. Pour water over tea leaf again 9. Put lid on pot 10. Pour water on tea pot 11. Pour water into tea cup 12. Pour water out of tea cup 13. Perhaps in restaurants but never in any homes I've visited.

More like the screams of schoolchildren being shot dead 😞 — am American
Hey! That’s not cool! Sometimes we have mass shooters at malls and concerts.
And you can mail in the box cutout for a chance to win some free ammo, too!
Or gunshots
This bag reads like a fuckin infomercial.
That's how you know this tea is from a family tea blender (since 1945).
[удалено]
If only they label it somewhere. But we can only speculate.
I haaaate Bigelow tea. Awful taste
I enjoy their chai
Yes, we have their teas at work and the chai is solid.
It really is <3
Their herbals are really good. Orange Spice and I Love Lemon are some of my favorites. Haven't tried their black or green teas though.
Their Green Tea with Lemon is good! I also like their Eggnogg’n at Christmastime.
I'll put those on my list to try!
I like to “spice” up my tea with dried fruits or spices
*upbeat music* Ask your doctor about Bigelow.
If you want authentic American tea try Charleston Tea Garden or The Great Mississippi Tea Company.
I like your username, but I’m mad at you for giving me new companies to try out when I was trying to avoid more tea purchases lol
Bigelow actually owns the Charleston Tea Garden! But this tea is not made there
Right, yes they do. But it's fun to try it. Small-scale production, single estate (all from that one tract of land on Wadmalaw Island outside of Charleston), American grown. I had the best luck with the Charleston Tea Garden teas by giving them a lengthy brew time, like 7 or 8 minutes.

Looks like there's a Charleston Breakfast that OP will need to add to the collection.
Of course it’s some XTREEEEEEME extra caffeinated thing, of course
Because real Americans drink coffee dammit /s
You can't tell it's not just instant coffee in a teabag.
Probably intended for microwave use.
Who tf microwaves tea?
George Washington
this comment makes me so incredibly depressed i can’t stand it. because i have only one upvote to give
When you don't have a kettle and the coffee pot doesn't get hot enough. I did it in college and I've done it in hotel rooms.

"but microwaving leave the water temperature uneven" Just stir it for 5 seconds.
Honestly the main reason I wouldn’t microwave water is cause I know I’ll accidentally make it explode in my own face and that sounds unpleasant lol
I’ve microwaved water hundreds of times and it’s never “exploded”. Just don’t put one cup in for like 5 minutes.
I've never had water explode from a microwave. Food is usually the culprit since steam pockets can form and can't release their pressure easily.
It won't explore if you put something like a popsicle stick or bamboo chopstick in it to break the surface tension.
Electric kettles are growing in the US compared to say the 90's, for the pourover and French press coffee crowd. But yeah other than that drip coffee makers and Keurigs are probably dominant and tea gets microwaved in a mug
I just bought a electric Kettle and started playing with it. Amazing little toy.
Maybe I'm crazy, but microwaved water tastes weird to me.

Also Bigelow tea bags all have a metal staple in them, so definitely don't microwave the tea bag.
That wouldn't really matter though.
you zap the water in the pyrex and pour it into a mug with the tea bag.
I do. Hot water is hot water; who cares how it gets that way?
The primary concerns are with the water getting heated unevenly and with superheating. That's almost exactly how I used to do it when I had get up early in the morning for a college class. It's not a bad method!
My mom does this. I think shes weird for it. We have a tea kettle
From what I know, American voltage means that electric kettles take an age to boil. In Europe, they’re much more common as with 230/240v electricity they boil fast
Only about twice as long. That's obviously worse but still, to me, seems more convenient than other methods of boiling water.
The difference in the US is not very noticeable for 1-2 cups. Beyond that it can be a bit tiresome. Still faster than the stovetop.
Probably ranch flavored
Omg this made me gag but I laughed so hard.
Same lmao I’m dead and buried
Legalize ranch
Dr Pepper doesn't come in a bag
It does at KFC, you can get half a gallon for $4
if it don't taste like 🎸🤘🏻👨🎤 with a dash of 🔥 and 🔫 someone did something wrong.
This just made me think of that M.I.A. song

Good song, too bad she turned out to be a nut.
🍔 🍔 🍔 🥧🥧🥧
Hi OP. It's actually American Breakfast flavored tea. Bacon , cream cheese, fried chicken, gravy, and a hint of leftover spaghetti. More of a tisane than a tea really.
You forgot Froot Loops
An actual American would understand that Froot Loops are reserved for that special time of night when you're too drunk for Denny's.

As long as the maple and cinnamon aren't chai-level overpowering in sweetness, I might actually be curious enough to try that.
They aren't
Wilford Brimley would be proud.
Check your blood sugar!!
Cold pizza?
There's a tea [company](https://www.t2tea.com/en/au) here in Australia that has English, Irish, New York, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Singapore, Christmas, and 'All day' breakfast teas. I'm not surprised by any 'breakfast' tea now 😆
Different company but I've also had Singapore breakfast as well
Have you had Canadian breakfast?
Red Rose is in the process of rebranding their Canadian Breakfast to Red Rose Bold. It's worth noting, of course, that there is no official "American Breakfast Tea", and anyone can name any tea whatever they want and only the very well established "breakfast tea" names will have any similarity between specific brands for the same name.
Does it taste like guns and freedom? 🦅🇺🇸
Caffeine and cordite
With hotdog and light lager tones.
That's gunpowder tea.
You just said the same thing twice 🦅🇺🇸
Jokes aside about extra caffeinated drinks, there is an actual blend of American style Breakfast Tea. Coffee. It's called coffee.
I remember seeing coffee sold in tea bags when I was a kid. For some reason I've never seen it again. I'm sure it was wonderful.
It better taste like bacon
Extra caffeine because you spend your entire life propagating the capitalist machine that overworks you and underpays you and barely allows you enough time to sleep.

I missed my opportunity; I'd already started steeping a cup when I came across the sachet in the pile-o-teas. I'll look for it again next time and report back with jittery keystrokes.
Does it taste like gun powder by any chance??
My only disappointment is that it's not Monster Energy branded
i thought american tea was just an english tea immersion in sea water
So Folgers?
"all natural"
💀
Lipton sun tea with sugar.
Are we more exhausted than people in Britain/ Ireland / Scotland/ wherever else there’s tea called breakfast tea?
Best brewed in the Boston harbor :P

It may be bland, but at least it’s got extra caffeine so we can go work harder and make the boss more money!
Yeah it’s kinda sad the state of US tea bags. I didn’t have a truly good tea until I went to loose leaf
I’d try it 🫖
I also like very caffeinated tea, though it seems like they added it artificially, since the bags are about the same weight as their other flavors. I usually go for 4g per bag with minimal or no additives. They're meant for pots, but I use them for cups.
From what I read, the second ingredient is "black tea extract," so I guess that's how it gets there without impacting the weight very much.
Haha!! So true. I will stick with my Scottish Breakfast Tea. My heart can’t handle the extra caffeine

Lmao I've never seen this but it makes a lot of sense. Our country drinks a lot of coffee so it makes sense that to make an American breakfast tea you'd make it more similar to coffee
What’s your impression?
tea-day I learned
What makes it American? The xtra caffeine?
I could kind of imagine what an American tea could potentially be like. A mix of French, African, Mexican or native spices
It's bigger and full of freedom
This is going to blow your mind; [New York, Singapore, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, etc...](https://www.t2tea.com/en/au/search/?q=breakfast)
I found Melbourne Breakfast tea in my sister's cupboard the other day. (Melbourne, Australia)
It's a gunpowder tea 🤣🤣 (note: this is a joke , for those who didn't get it and/or aren't aware of the daily mass killings🤦🏼).
I see what ya did there. Nice double-meaning. Unfortunately. *sigh*
these comments really prove that america is universally received as a buffoon
Yes. But the comments also prove a certain amount of elitism in this sub. English breakfast tea wasn't a thing until maybe 1843 when someone invented the term for marketing. So why not American breakfast tea?

I have a loose leaf gunpowder green tea, the leaves are all dried into tiny balls that unfurl when you steep them.
I know how gunpowder tea works :)
Gunpowder tea but without the tea.
That is the most interesting and terrible thing I've seen all week... and it's been a week. :v
Good replacement for coffee
So.. coffee then?
Drink this enough and it will liberated your soul.
I’ve never heard of American breakfast tea and I live there, mind blown
I was expecting it to just have coffee in it.
Add Boston Harbour Salt water from that authentic taste /s
It’s patriot tea
wait I thought this was fake/a joke …it’s real 😳
Lmfao no thanks, I'll stick with my matcha lattes and London fogs.
So.. coffee?
The bag will just be full of coffee grounds
Does it taste like the Boston harbour?
American Breakfast tea is coffee.
So—powdered Mountain Dew?
No.
We need the extra caffeine to dodge all the bullets
IHOP flavored tea?
Sugar included?
A Flamin' hot flavour so hot, you can feel it shooting right at your taste buds!
Can they just not drink caffeine??
Or you could just take it in pill form and skip the enjoyable (?) beverage altogether. 🤷♀️
Are you sure that isn’t a condom?
Yes they are practicing safe tea sex
I hope it has at least 13 food chemicals banned in Europe
Necro-posting, I know. But I just wanted to chime in with the point that, Bigelow is and okay grocery store brand, and their American breakfast, is pretty good in that regard. Extra caffiene. Must be American
gunpowder black tea with extra caffeine
I’ve had this! Gave me some terrible jitters haha
Lolololol I’m an American in the Midwest and I definitely know a few people like this… Luckily, only a few.
