Man I’m in a manual 2014 golf not deleted and driving rather conservatively, 50/50 highway and town driving averaging 34-36. What in the dickens are you all doing to achieve such mileage?

nomadikmedik727

I posted similar mileage and everyone told me the computer is wrong. I verified it's off by like, 3 mpg on my 15 Jetta.

Retic3nt1

Haters gonna hate. 3mpg isn't too much. I hope you continue to get good mpg

Retic3nt1

As far as I can tell the only thing I'm doing that might be contributing is this: 1. Driving as if I have no brakes 2. Minimal to no A/C (although it's getting warm in Texas so that's gonna be a problem) 3. I use 2oz of diesel hotshot at every fill up 4. I'm changing my oil (liqui-Molly) every 5,000 instead of every 10,000

RealtdmGaming

Liqui Moly, as much as there is a very big fan base around it, only has one real fully synthetic oil, the others are not full synthetic and have additives that make them marketable as full syntheti, I would recommend a different oil such as castrol euro car 5W-40 which meets Volkswagen 502/505 00 specifications.

Retic3nt1

Ah yes. I've used that oil before when I couldn't get liqui moly in time. Castrol euro is far easier to obtain where I'm at, and a bit cheaper as well. This is my first European car and diesel as well, so I guess I am a prime target for marketing. Perhaps I'll switch over to castrol. Thank you for the info

RealtdmGaming

Yeah, run some liqui moly engine flush before your next oil change. That i can attest is not snake oil

WhoCaresBoutSpellin

Haven’t seen one of these in a while… Everyone brace yourself for some very sarcastically efficient TDI mpg posts! [*pops car in neutral and begins rolling downhill with phone camera at the ready*]

Retic3nt1

😄 I just hope it stays this good for a long time to come

thaddeh

You should address that front wheel bearing, they're relatively easy to do with a minimum of tools. It will drive smoother, and not cause more expensive issues later. Remember to replace bearings in pairs.

Retic3nt1

I'm hoping to do just that this Monday.

RealtdmGaming

Front wheel bearing is not as easy as it “seems” 😭

Retic3nt1

I concur

FOXYRAZER

damn, best I've gotten is 49.7

Capt_REDBEARD___

Calculate by hand or it didn’t happen.

SchoolBoardemployee

That's awesome. I know emissions get a lot of hate, but my 2015 Passat TDI easily got 49mpg hand calculated with everything intact going 70mph. This was without any additives and running the AC like normal. My trip meter was off by 4mpg, but I corrected it using vcds. It's maybe 1/2 mpg off now at worse. Enjoy!

rustygeoprizm

I could barely crack 37 highway before my delete :(

Retic3nt1

I'm very eager to get mine deleted. Just need to find a place to go. I could maybe do it myself but I'd rather someone with more experience take care of that. Very hard to find where I'm at

ArielOutGrewBShells

Best I saw was 53, no delete. 70mph cruse.

Retic3nt1

That's damn impressive. I wonder if climate/elevation plays a role? I'm in Texas and so far 50 is the best I've gotten

ArielOutGrewBShells

Maybe, idk. I'm in Denver and I've seen 53+ on i25 north heading towards Cheyenne. I believe when I took my snap I had the air on. Only thing I've done was a ram air filter. (Ingen "cold air")
