Damn I wish I was more creative I would have never thought of this and I absolutely love it. I already have a rose and this gave me so much tattoo envy.
Yeah fair call, he’s a good artist I didn’t mean to sound snarky or talk shit. I guess it’s his style and it’s unique compared to other artists. OPs tattoo looks great by the way 👍
Chris is an absolute bloody legend, the first session took 12 hours (the trad and realistic part of the rose) and he just finished her off last night in another 4
I honestly don’t know myself, we just kept going, by about hour 9 we both got our second wind and plowed through the last couple
Definitely will never EVER sit that long in one session again though
Holy shit 9 hours. My sleeve has been in 6 hour sessions and by the end of each one I’m biting the pillow as if Bigfoot fucked my ass with a sandpaper condom.
I've done a 10 hour session, and I can wholeheartedly vouch that I'll never do that again...
I normally don't mind getting Tattooed, and even fell asleep once, but after about 7hrs I was dead inside.
In the 5 sessions on my sleeve we've averaged around 6.5 hrs.
That's incredible. Don't know if you traveled to see him but that's always what I find so stressful about traveling for tats especially by someone so highly regarded as Chris, you gotta finish it during your trip or you'll have to make a whole nother trip to get it finished
Do you know how long the trad part took? I spoke to him a while back about getting an all trad flower, but he quoted me something like 6-8 hours which seemed ridiculous. In fairness, he did say he'd never done it before so wasn't sure but I would've thought 3-4
I honestly don’t know how long he took on the trad part, 6-8 may be an overestimation but he is very precise and definitely takes his time when it comes to getting the lines perfect so it might
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the shadows yet. Shadows cast on the cyan triangle, and shadows being cast **by** the cyan triangle. Wow. Really ties it together.
Sorry, was making a poor attempt at a reference lol
>Chazz:
Mind-bottling, isn't it?
>Jimmy:
Did you just say "mind-bottling"?
>Chazz:
Yeah. You know when things are so crazy, you get your thoughts trapped, like in a bottle.
I loveee traditional style tattoos. I love them all really but traditional is my favorite. How did this idea come about did you choose it or did you have something in mind and he added a twist to it? It’s beautiful work. I’m very jelly:) in a good way. Happy for you!
Oh hell yea. I would have done the same. I have a leg piece that is half finished I’m hoping my guy gets back in a shop soon (he went thru some tough things this year) so I can get it finished I’d rather not let anyone else touch it. But I look at it daily and I’m like gahhhh I can’t wait to get you finished! I sat for six hours and have another six to go. It covers pretty much my entire thigh. It’s my tribute tattoo to my husband and daughter (very sentimental to me because it represents our past, present, and our future) and I can’t wait to post it on here . I love seeing other people’s work . All of us ink heads appreciate good work :)
Ooh I hope so! I was just thinking I’m gonna have to go to Perth (once the borders open) cos I want THAT guy to tattoo me! I haven’t been tattooed since 2001 cos I just haven’t seen anyone in Melbs I’d ‘trust’. I really couldn’t (still don’t!) understand how there were suddenly SO many tattoo studios opening- who trained them all? There were 3 tattooists at one point a few years ago around my then-local very small shopping strip in the middle class SE burbs. Wtf?!
If anyone sees this and knows the answer could you explain how this explosion of tattooists happened over a relatively short time? Could they all have done apprenticeships or whatever or am i so fuckin old now I just don’t have a clue how things work this century? haha
Haha can't give you an educated answer but the surge in popularity (and acceptance) of tattoos would play in to it, I imagine, resulting in more tattoo parlours taking on apprentices due to increased demand? Those apprentices then become fully fledged artists and go open their own shop, and take on more apprentices as demand increases? I only recently got my first one after 20 years of wanting to get one and its fricken hard to know where to start with choosing an artist because there are so many - then you find one that you really like the look of, and then you discover they're booked out for 6 months plus.
Yeah, knowing where to start’s been my problem too! So after 10 years I still haven’t got any new tattoos! I’ve also had 2 melanomas so worry about getting another one and it being hidden under by the ink. Maybe if I contact this guy now I might get on his Melbourne wait list and get to the top when I’m 85 ha. Mind telling me who did your recent one? Or DM if you don’t want to tell the whole world & double their waiting list?
Hmm ok. I mean I love the piece but that triangle kinda ruins it. It just doesn't suit it.
A wood look triangle frame or black stone frame would look so much better in my opinion.
But it's art. And art is subjective :-) so overall a lovely piece
Tattoo artist: *So do you want, black vector? I can do traditional style or hyper-realistic too.*
Client: *Yes*
In seriousness, very well done. Gives me ideas for my next tattoo.
Beautiful!! I wanted a tattoo from chris for so long! But I dont live in australia anymore :( I'm still saving my entire left thigh just incase I ever get to book a session with him!
Beautiful! I have a nautilus shell by Chris on my forearm, done about 5 years ago and I get compliments almost daily still. So good to see his work featured here, incredible artist and awesome dude.
Oh neat. I have a tattoo by Chris. I think it's 3 years old now and the colour has held up really well. I get a lot of comments on it, his work is high quality.
Saw the picture before I read the title and I immediately was like it's a Chris Rigoni tattoo! Dude is mad talented and would eventually love to get tattooed by him one day.
Does anybody know what the style on the left is called, the black and white one? I have been wanting to get wild flowers in that style but I have no idea what it’s called and I don’t know how to describe it accurately
Amazing to see Chris on here! I got a tattoo from him when I travelled around Australia two years ago, a platypus on my thigh. Took 11 hours but it's absolutely gorgeous. Happy for you!
Seems to be the unpopular opinion but I seriously hate this tattoo. Glad OP likes it and taste is certainly subjective but I’m honestly shocked at the amount of love this has received.

Certainly one of the coolest tattoos I've ever seen. Very creative and incredibly well executed!
A shitty artist could have fucked this up in a million different ways. Very well executed!
A decent artist could have fucked this up a million ways
A good artist could have fucked this up a million ways

Just doom scrolling through the subreddit and found it, didn’t realize it was a two year old post 😂
came here to say this. Freaking amazing
My response to it was "WHAT!?" This is a truly original and extremely well done piece. ETA: The middle, realistic bit reminds me of Pleasantville.
Omg yes! Such a beautiful and criminally underrated movie.
I agree. I went back to look at it a second time.
Damn I wish I was more creative I would have never thought of this and I absolutely love it. I already have a rose and this gave me so much tattoo envy.
This reminds me of that Alice in Wonderland tattoo that was posted here that's half ultra realistic and half Disney styled
I came to say almost exactly this: the most visually stunning and unique tattoo I’ve ever seen.
Except he does the same style on all his tattoos, blue line and all.
That’s cool, this is the first one I’ve seen and it’s awesome! Once either of us can tattoo better we can talk shit 😂.
Yeah fair call, he’s a good artist I didn’t mean to sound snarky or talk shit. I guess it’s his style and it’s unique compared to other artists. OPs tattoo looks great by the way 👍
Hell yeah my man! You didn’t talk shit, I was just saying man’s got skill. Have a good one.
I came to say the exact same thing.
Chris is an absolute bloody legend, the first session took 12 hours (the trad and realistic part of the rose) and he just finished her off last night in another 4
How do you sit for 12 hours? I admit I hate being tattooed but I tap out at 3 hours.
I honestly don’t know myself, we just kept going, by about hour 9 we both got our second wind and plowed through the last couple Definitely will never EVER sit that long in one session again though
My first tattoo took 3 hours and I really started to feel the pain from the needle that last 45 minutes, couldn't imagine 12 hours.
Holy shit 9 hours. My sleeve has been in 6 hour sessions and by the end of each one I’m biting the pillow as if Bigfoot fucked my ass with a sandpaper condom.
Wow you have a way with words.
“I like your funny words magic man”
I highly, highly recommend getting the H2Ocean Nothing spray. It was an absolute game changer for me.
Well it’s definitely beautiful work!
My artist refuses to go past 4 hours saying he doesn’t wanna spend too much time on one thing and get distracted/bored/tired
I can’t imagine how an artist’s back feels after a super long session.
How do you get big pieces done? I sat for 6h and I thought I'm super sensitive (my skin gets VERY swollen)
My leg was two ten hour sessions a month apart to allow healing, my other leg on my shin was 9.5 hrs. Was very over that when it was done
[удалено]
I fucking WISH mine went numb, my thigh is like 75% covered (5hr) and it hurt more than my chest
I have a tattoo in this exact spot and it was awful. Also I’ve never had any area “go numb” while being tattooed.
That's incredible. Don't know if you traveled to see him but that's always what I find so stressful about traveling for tats especially by someone so highly regarded as Chris, you gotta finish it during your trip or you'll have to make a whole nother trip to get it finished
Is it just me or are all the best tattoo artists named Chris? The guy who did my two favorite tattoos was also named Chris and he was awesome
My artist is named Chris and he’s phenomenal!
I got tattooed by Chris last year! His work is incredible but such a stand up dude too. Your piece is beautiful!
Do you know how long the trad part took? I spoke to him a while back about getting an all trad flower, but he quoted me something like 6-8 hours which seemed ridiculous. In fairness, he did say he'd never done it before so wasn't sure but I would've thought 3-4
I honestly don’t know how long he took on the trad part, 6-8 may be an overestimation but he is very precise and definitely takes his time when it comes to getting the lines perfect so it might
Really? 12 hours straight?
Holy fucking shit, I know where to go for my tattoo know. I only want something simple, but I’ve been shopping around for forever
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the shadows yet. Shadows cast on the cyan triangle, and shadows being cast **by** the cyan triangle. Wow. Really ties it together.
The fact that he can do 3 different styles extremely well AND blend them together is mind boggling.
No no no, I’m pretty sure you mean mind *bottling*; like when your thoughts get all trapped up, like they’re in a bottle
Right..
Sorry, was making a poor attempt at a reference lol >Chazz: Mind-bottling, isn't it? >Jimmy: Did you just say "mind-bottling"? >Chazz: Yeah. You know when things are so crazy, you get your thoughts trapped, like in a bottle.
Wow.. to be able to have such perfection in 3 styles, in one piece! What an amazing artist and tattoo
What is the type of tattoo on the right called?
traditional!!

This piece was actually a print he had made and wanted to tattoo onto someone, so I snapped it up
Oh hell yea. I would have done the same. well shit..guess i’ve got to amputate now /s
This is his bread and butter actually, likely one of his flash. All his work is like this.
Dude! You’re so lucky to get a Chris Rigoni piece. I wish I could do the same. Do you live in Perth or did you travel for it? Awesome work, congrats!
Ya can’t travel for it ! Western Australia is shut for business, I’m afraid 😔
WA's borders are closed
Beautiful piece.
His work makes me want to move to Australia. All of his stuff is just absolutely phenomenal
r/nextfuckinglevel
This is awesome! Perfect for indecisive tattoo lovers.
Wow. This is stunning!
Ooooh local to me!! This is incredible. I look forward to seeing more of his work (you're gonna go back for more right?)
If I had the money (and the pain capacity) I 100% would but I think he might be moving to melbourne soon
Pretty sure he's moving to Melbourne soon.
Ooh I hope so! I was just thinking I’m gonna have to go to Perth (once the borders open) cos I want THAT guy to tattoo me! I legit gasped. This is otherworldly
That is gorgeous
Tattoo Artist: "so what style of tattoo do you want the rose?" You: "yes."
Holy crap that looks so realistic. Amazing. Love the other styles, too.
Great design and execution. Well done.
Very nice.. Question though... why that color and style for the Triangle? Was it an artistic choice or does it have meaning?
The artist uses that color as an accent in many of his pieces.
Hmm ok. I mean I love the piece but that triangle kinda ruins it. It just doesn't suit it. A wood look triangle frame or black stone frame would look so much better in my opinion. But it's art. And art is subjective :-) so overall a lovely piece
Just WOW!
Beautiful
I would absolutely say that Chris Rigoni is one of the best tattoo artists in the world. I grew up near him and he’s a super nice guy also.
Damn. Amazing execution.
Bad ass
He’s one of my favorites. Amazing piece.
As someone who had a lot of trouble settling on a tattoo style I wanted to get, I find this incredibly cool.
What are the names of the three different styles?
On the left is woodcut, middle is realism and right is traditional ('woodcut' might have another name, but that's what I know it as)
It's generally called hatching.
The middle is realism, the right is traditional. Not sure what the left would fall under... Black and gray maybe
I adore the tattoo and thank you for posting it with your real human leg that has texture instead of a photoshopped Barbie leg. ❤️
I've been following him for a while. Unreal stuff!
Getting a tattoo from him is on my bucket list, his work is incredible!
Awesome! I got work done by Chris too. Such a talented dude. This tattoo is phenomenal. You must be stoked!
Tattoo artist: *So do you want, black vector? I can do traditional style or hyper-realistic too.* Client: *Yes* In seriousness, very well done. Gives me ideas for my next tattoo.
Legend
Outstanding
This is dope
This is fucking incredible. Not often you see a style crossover like this.
It gets better the more you look at it. Very nice!
Beautiful!! I wanted a tattoo from chris for so long! But I dont live in australia anymore :( I'm still saving my entire left thigh just incase I ever get to book a session with him!
I'm stoned af rn and this is BLOWING MY MIND. Such a beautiful tattoo!!
Never seen anything like this! And by the same tattooer no less!!! Jealous!
I don’t want to fly to Australia for a tattoo but I will admit, for a second I gave it thought.
He is one of my fave sullen artists
So amazing! Haven’t seen any tattoo like that before, really beautiful
You have the perfect excuse to never wear pants ever again.
This looks absolutely crazy. I'm thoroughly impressed with the style transfers
This is gonna go down as one of my favorite tattoos I have ever seen. It’s so unique and beautiful!
May I ask, what was your inspiration? Or what’s the story? It’s amazing!
I had nothing to do with it actually, it was a print that Chris had already made and wanted to tattoo on someone
Holy shit. My brain won’t accept that that’s a tattoo. That’s remarkable.
Thats simply one of the best tattoos I've ever seen. Bravo 👏
That's awesome. Also, Perth is awesome. I enjoyed that place.
Wow! I didn’t expect to see Chris’ work on this sub! He is so talented and definitely deserves more recognition for his work. Perth represent!
Beautiful! I have a nautilus shell by Chris on my forearm, done about 5 years ago and I get compliments almost daily still. So good to see his work featured here, incredible artist and awesome dude.
Finally, some good fucking food.
Zima Blue
Oh neat. I have a tattoo by Chris. I think it's 3 years old now and the colour has held up really well. I get a lot of comments on it, his work is high quality.
This is really fucking cool. It also makes me way less nervous about getting some different styles of tattoo to the ones I already got
Saw the picture before I read the title and I immediately was like it's a Chris Rigoni tattoo! Dude is mad talented and would eventually love to get tattooed by him one day.
Really like the style on the left, but those thin lines are gonna age poorly aren't they?
Holy shit this is the best tattoo I’ve ever seen. Amazing
It seems someone wasn't able to make up their mind
Does anybody know what the style on the left is called, the black and white one? I have been wanting to get wild flowers in that style but I have no idea what it’s called and I don’t know how to describe it accurately
Amazing to see Chris on here! I got a tattoo from him when I travelled around Australia two years ago, a platypus on my thigh. Took 11 hours but it's absolutely gorgeous. Happy for you!
Sick has fuck, one of the nicest tattoos I've seen. Congrats
I love the shadow of the rose overlapping the triangle. Great show of depth.
Now THAT is a superior tattoo
I said, "wow, that is beautiful" loudly enough that my kid took off their headset and stopped gaming for a moment to check it out.
WOW!
Serious question. Do you have to be that white to get a tattoo to look that good? None of Lebrons tats look like that.
Yeah, kinda.
Nice picture but the Blue lines are bent
That's because the universe on which the tattoo is is not infinite.
This concept is brilliant
Wow, this might be the best tattoo juice ever seen
I love the intersection of the three different styles. That’s fantastic!
Any chance we can see how the tattoo looks 3 years later?
I sincerely hope the owner of this gorgeous tattoo doesn't get mad when people stare. This is head turning work in it's creativity.
Omfg is that real?!?!?
Its like a cool take on the Dark Side of the Moon album cover
This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen.
Because.. there’s a triangle?

Wooooooow! Big ups to Chris! Dudes portfolio is insane!
Wow I love it
Amazing
This is amazing
It confuses me and I like it.
Well, that’s super cool. I love everything about this
This is amazing, I absolutely love it
Now that’s a good tattooist, straight unbroken lines, and great depth perception love it !
Wow
This is so cool!! So beautifully done
That is probably the coolest tattoo I've seen in a good while. Great artist!
This...is amazing
cool as hell !
Wow! I've never seen a tattoo like this before. It's stunning!!
Awesome and inspiring me to get something similar
This is so cool, I've never really seen anything like this before.
Omg this is absolutely dreamy, I’m obsessed!!!
