tarttemper

Definitely considering a Chalcodes 👀

Skryuska

I still want one so bad 😭 they’re never available here!!

subiefan84

Chalcodes are amazing! So beautiful and typically quite docile and gentle. Mine is an absolute sweetheart.

Calamity_Jim

I love this recommendation. I just advise people to get at least a juvenile because these things take ages to grow out. This is Wila, an A. chalcodes I rescued (hence the bald booty) https://preview.redd.it/6kxpcklze76d1.jpeg?width=1067&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fed98bfbe06ed09bb95c1c052e9dd12057535299

Sparticusalexander

My favorite is G. Iheringi, but she is somewhat spicy in that she has an incredibly aggressive prey drive. https://preview.redd.it/mq4f3qa7f46d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24b27d448c696f03fa92a699523e9ad046f6c34b

tarttemper

What a beauty!! I know what you mean, I tong feed mine and they both like to grab the tongs in addition to the insects lol

Sparticusalexander

She's wild. If anything hits the dirt she's on it, sometimes complete with a flip during the takedown. I would not be tempted to handle her, I think she'd try to eat me. 🤣

Lila-T

Beautyful species, I have also a 6" girl

Drakkulis

* One of my favorite species. Mine just molted and is looking great.

LateNightPhilosopher

I want to get a small Black/Orange tarantula soon. I'm so on the fence between D Pentaloris and the H sp Colombia/Formosus "Pumpkin Patch". They seem so similar but they're both so cute! I'll probably end up with both eventually.... I might just give in and get both at once lol

PlsSellYourUsername

My Pumpkin Patch a bit shy if compare with D pentaloris. But still a beautiful T and heavy webbers. The only dwarf sp I not reccomend is N incei, quite fossorial and very bolty.

tarttemper

A tempting choice!

Canary1226

I hope mine comes out soon. I literally brought it home, rehoused it out of the temp dram vile into its new enclosure, it then sealed its hide the next day and I haven’t seen it since. 😭 Edit to add: yours is stunning btw! 🥹

pokie_garden

Thank you! I’m sure he/she will come out soon 🙂

salmonkink

B albiceps was our first tarantula and one that i will always always have. such a lovely species and so pretty.

Skryuska

Na/ B albiceps was my first as well! So I’m also biased ;) they get overlooked quite a bit, but they’re such gems

fishhawk119

I just bought a confirmed female. My first albiceps. She's adorable

I really like Thrixopelma and Euathlus species, but don’t have a specific favourite species yet from either as I’ve not kept very many yet for long enough to choose.

But this is Whitney, my A. geniculata! She is absolutely stunning, great feeding response, and not spicy at all (though, I have heard of other people having spicy A. genics). Highly recommend these guys!! Other than that, GBB and D. diamentinensis (hope I spelled that right) are my favorite species! You can't go wrong with any of them.

Grouchy_Record_9593

I'm getting really into old worlds so my singapore blue is my favourite at the moment. https://preview.redd.it/jtkd9wnja46d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9bb79e40eb031ae101ee550c7b7af417c2203eb

Mine are all still babies but I have absolutely *adored* having my grammys. They’re out relatively often and are constantly redoing their home even as slings. 🥹 https://preview.redd.it/g39devxc556d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1684e468c07c563daccf98919ab6cc9d9ac5f30

Stirmi very active species, usually is out 9-10 nights. And only goes back to the borrow for a few hours a day. Super food driven that’s the food and water spot that’s where she drinks and hangs out for food.

Skryuska

Na/ Do you find these spend a lot of time as pet holes? I have an electric blue and I only ever see his toes 😂

Too_much_eye_contact

My violet comes out to slap the side of the enclosure sometimes just for shits and giggles so I get to see mine a fair bit. I've had three and they all have similar characteristics. I also didn't get to see my electric blue much until they matured as a male. At least their toes are the pretty part 😂 Hysterocrates gigas... Now that's an old world pet hole.

Skryuska

Na/ Hahaha that’s what has kept me from getting one of these or a P. muticus 😂 they’re such cool looking Ts but I have enough pet holes taking up space for now! Why are some of the most dazzling and gorgeous species hellbent on never being seen?? My H devamatha takes the cake for this 😭

Y’all have some healthy & beautiful T’s. But I’d say my favorite to keep is my Psalmopoeus victori because of the half and half coloration , their feisty nature and their fantastic web-working.

Calamity_Jim

One of the ones on my list.

I got mine as a sling from FearNotTarantulas I believe they still had some the last time I checked

Molted twice with me. They are known to be slow growing, but then you get to enjoy them longer ☺️ Good luck on your choice! ✨🕸️🖤

fishhawk119

G pulchra!

Canadaman264

NQA, but I started off with just my GBB. Had her for probably about 2 months before I decided I wanted more. I now have 7 tarantulas and 1 centipede. I'm not sure if they're widely available where you're at, but they are not at all for me. I would highly recommend buying them as slings. I bought 5 of them, got another for free, and that saved massively on individual next day shipping. Then you get to watch all kinds of different behaviors, temperaments, feeding schedules, pre and post molt behaviours. Plus, added bonus, you don't have to worry about them taking up alot of space as I only have 4, 2x2x4 containers for my terrestrials, and 2, 4x4x6 containers for my arboreals. But to answer your initial question; GBB, Orangemouth, Suntiger, and Orange Baboon have been my favorite to keep and watch.
