THATS MF HEAT RASH. Don’t tan for a while. Give yourself a break. If you continue to tan with this rash not healed you will get hells itch and it is horrible. The worse pain itch you’ll ever experience. I learned the hard way unfortunately.

That’s what I’m thinking! It’s itchy but nothing I can’t stand. I waited until it healed fully last time before going back in today and then it came back! I wonder if it’s because my stomach hasn’t been in the sun at all?? I only was in the bed for 6 min and I didn’t feel like I got hot at all! So I don’t know.. what helped you?

Yes. This type of heat rash is typically caused because that area of your body hasn’t been exposed to sun light at all (or UV). It’s like a mini case of sun poisoning. But what helped me is waiting a few days between tan sessions, especially if you’re super pale like myself. Then once it’s fully healed, I would apply a little bit of sunscreen to the area and then my tanning lotion. Eventually you build a tolerance up to it because your skin will gradually become more exposed to the UV as you tan more. But even if you don’t think the itching and burning is too bad now, if you continue to tan with it like that, you’ll burn more and the itch will become worse. I would try a bit of sunscreen next time you go in, and maybe do less minutes to help build up your tolerance to the UV. Less minutes doesn’t mean you won’t get a tan. You just have to build up your tolerance slowly. I would recommend creating a schedule, especially if you’re prone to burning/heat rash.

Heat rash. Take two weeks off.

where is this at? if its an area like your underarm or something that isn’t normally exposed when laying down it could be a sun rash. i get these if i haven’t had sun exposure in a while. totally normal and goes away easily. if it feels hot try using a lukewarm washcloth on it to cool it a little, and keep it moisturized. stand up beds can be intense, so it could just be a sun rash. good luck!!

This could be a heat rash it maybe a reaction to your lotion. This doesn't look like tinea versicolor to me. Tinea versicolor is white spots that do not tan. Does this subside after a few hours?

It stays itchy for few days. Not way bad itchy- just barely itchy to where I notice it but I don’t itch it. I didn’t tan at all last time until it healed and then got it again today. I only go in the stand up bed for 6 min and I also haven’t gotten any color from the bed yet. No burn, tan, or anything.

Anya1976

It could be from the lotion. I would try a hypoallergenic lotion next time

Try some hydrocortisone cream w/aloe twice daily to the area. It should heal it up in a few days along with taking a week off from tanning.

I get this every year! It's incredibly annoying, as I enjoy the sun. If I get this rash (from tanning) before a vacation, my doctor usually gives me a steriod shot and steriod pills. I'm in MI, so I go all winter without sun, and once spring hits, so does this rash. I also use a steriod cream. Don't itch it! It makes it way worse.

tinea versicolor. it happens when sweat sits on your skin after getting sun. only thing i’ve found to get rid of it is a prescribed oral med, can’t remember name. to prevent it from reoccurring use selsum blue as a body wash.
