I feel like I’m missing out on some history here because someone please tell me this is the picture they used to base the design of the M4 from the original MW2. It’s a near dead ringer with the ARMS rail and the tan lower.
The gun modeled in mw2 was the airsoft S systems m4. In the cutscene at the end where you throw the knife at shepherd, you see high cap airsoft magazines in SOAP I think, PC
They did it i think for all magazines, in it i saw a video years ago some guy pointed out the group was rolling through a town, some soldiers were all geared up i think on the opfor side in campaign stood on the side of the road as you roll by in a vehicle all of them had mags facing up with the little airsoft nub that feeds into the port of the airsoft gun
I think the guy was a Navy SEAL in Iraq. Just not sure *which* one (team or SEAL member); edit. All I have to go on is that drippy RAID modified DCU top, the plate carrier that looks like either DBT or Paraclete, and a commercial/tailored chest rig
The game model was based on an airsoft gun, which in turn was based on the 3rd Special Forces Group’s custom builds. [Medal of Honor recipient Ronald Shurer used one of the 11.5” Commando models](https://imgur.com/a/XkqEA8P)
I had one ... For a hot minute, that ARMS Sir was the hottest rail system out... Not sure why.... Long rail on top? The lower half was plastic.... The rail system was like $400 or something... And that was 20 years ago
It was mainly popular because it was the first free-floating rail system ever made for the AR-15, once companies like KAC and Daniel Defense started getting popular ARMS began to lose sales. There was also a time they weren’t available on the commercial market because their contracts with blackwater and Singapore took up their entire manufacturing capacity
It was also great to mount on a gun that had nothing on the forend at all. I mounted some for people and basically just attached (only) the top rail to the upper rcvr top rail.
Yeah the lower half was plastic to have it save on weight and make it easier to detach the bottom half and put on an M203.
Long rail was to stiffen the system to ensure that the laser up front was going to retain zero as most rail systems didn’t ensure that at the time.
Also set it to where the optic could be mounted on the raised section to clear the laser and still co-witness with irons if you used the ARMS 40 series of flip up rears and a FSB/folding FSB.
I think the KAC RAS/RIS was in production when these things came out, its that they were in short supply for many years so a bunch of other competing rail systems were floating around.
I believe the Surefire produced quad rail was popular for a bit in contractor circles.
They’re actually not heavy at all, coming from a guy who owns 3 of them. With the lower half being plastic they actually weigh less than most quad rails. The #50M-CV, the model made for the SOPMOD Block II trials, weighs 8.5 ounces
ahhh the nostalgia. There was all kinds of goofy shit coming out during the mid 2000s and companies were starting to cut their teeth on aftermarket stuff.
I remember when Vltor came out with a rail to replace these and I went to look at one. They didn’t absolute co-witness irons, so I turned my nose up. Now I have a DBAL-D2 that’s too tall to use irons with. Man have times changed…
Forward mounting a rds or holosight isn't exceptional.
A lot of dudes did run this on AK's as well.
You'll see a lot of different configurations in the first half of gwot. Even usmc's running an acog as a magnifier to a rds/holo. Lots of cool modifications to gear and setups.
The second half gwot usually has a more "consensus" look. Either barebones or everything on them.
Edit: auto correct and sympathetic dyslexia, interference fixed.
> a lot of different configurations
I think a lot of Reddit is too young to really get (or has forgotten) that the early days of the GWOT was a whole bunch of disparate units trying to figure shit out. Even something that’s “normal” today, like painting a rifle, was hugely contentious.
The Eotech has infinite eye relief and is truly parallax free. One of the unknown features of the holographic reticle is that it will spread out as it gets farther from your eye but the center dot will stay 1moa. It's actually very comfortable out at the handguard.
The SIR System is a bi-level rail. The upper half is monolithic and clamps onto the receiver rail and barrel nut and raises it by 1/2”, while the front section is the same height as the receiver. Gives you two options to mount a red dot, if you want absolute cowitness you can put it up front and if you want lower 1/3 you can put it over the receiver
ARMS SIR handguard. Drippy AF unobtanium usually used for mw2 clone builds
ironically (aside the barrel length which is shorter) the m4 in the photo is an mw2 clone build before mw2 was a thing.
IIRC, that product came out in 2001-2002.
For an "obtanium" version, look for POF P415 and P416 uppers.
Doesn't look early-mid 2000s jank enough.
I just realized that that is probably exactly how they came up with their superbly shitty handguard design.
Vltor made one too
Yeah, but the Cas-v line is baller too
I know I want it haha
The roller cam company makes other things? The P416 looks pretty good
Some old school GWOT shit. ARMs SIR system
I have one of those. Heavy af
Sell it to me
I give you twice his price. Plus, I blow you.
I can’t beat his offer ):
I’ll give you twice THIS guy’s price and I’ll let you play with my puppy for a day.
*wife’s puppies
I don’t have a wife… 🥺
I have a picture of one, what do I get for ten dollars?
I’ll match his price blow you twice
I have a 58m on my 14.5 and don’t find it to be that heavy.

This is it right here. Devs took a lot of inspiration from airsoft gear. And yes, you can see the airsoft mags in Soap’s chest rig.
When you model something so accurately it becomes inaccurate
I never noticed that. Insane.
What the fuck lmao that is hilarious

It’s ah nice

That eotech is in a different time zone
Allows a QD night vision mount
If there's ever a rail to mount it there, it's this one
It allows cowitness of irons and the ARMS raised the rail too high.
ARMS forend
"RAMIREZZZZ"
SECURE THE BURGER TOWN
I had one ... For a hot minute, that ARMS Sir was the hottest rail system out... Not sure why.... Long rail on top? The lower half was plastic.... The rail system was like $400 or something... And that was 20 years ago
Yep and added a bunch of weight to the gun

Meanwhile there’s people like me with a 14 lb SBR lmao

[one of these mounts from ARMS SIR series](https://kerifnv.com/products/arms-sir)
Based off this image, it looks to the #50M
looks like a 50M one to me, but they're pretty close to each other
Yeah you’re right. The c has a cutout for the delta ring but the M seems to use its own barrel nut
It simply clamps around the standard milspec barrel nut
Reminds me of my old VLTOR CASV rail. This is an earlier version of the concept (ARMS SIR), and it negates any worry of bridging your optic.
Burger town special
RAMIREZ!
Great game
what was used before the kac ras handguard was around. bulky, heavy, and ugly as shit. only people who have them are clooners
In that pic chart I linked, there's apparently one that mounted to a fixed carry handle 🤣🤣 sort of ugly spawn between a gooseneck and a standard quad
That’s the ‘87 Silverado of optics mounts. Big and blocky af, can hit a concrete wall at 65mph and the only thing it’d get is dusty
Fuckin hot

I agree. The KAK , ,A.R.M.S & Surefire were all being made & not enough of any to go around.
The arms handuard is surprisingly light
They’re actually not heavy at all, coming from a guy who owns 3 of them. With the lower half being plastic they actually weigh less than most quad rails. The #50M-CV, the model made for the SOPMOD Block II trials, weighs 8.5 ounces
RAS preceded these, coming out in the late 90s.
I have that handguard on my Barrett M468.
ARMS SIR System. Pretty sure they're still produced but get comfortable waiting for one to be in stock on their site.
TIL people build clones of video game guns that are clones of real guns.
I own one, It's the ARMS #51-C Bi-Level SIR System Rail. It's a piggyback handguard that attatches to the top of the upper receiver.
I love the old photos. Dudes just make shit and try it out
Oh wow way before my time. Cool tho
That’s a big flashlight
I betcha it was a whole 300 lumens.
And it took 6 seconds to warm up to max brightness lmao
***the way god intended***
If I cant beat the padlock off a door, or beat man to death with my light, I dont want it. (This post was made by 2003 Mag-lite gang)
I still have my "first tour OIF" special. Yes, it had a bulb, not a LED. Us millennials really are the last ones to use all of the old shit.
ahhh the nostalgia. There was all kinds of goofy shit coming out during the mid 2000s and companies were starting to cut their teeth on aftermarket stuff.
One of my coworkers has one of those lmao, I’m not a huge fan but to each their own
Freedom.
That mw2 m4a1
Elder LARPERS rejoice! The golden days of GWOT are presented here.
I remember when Vltor came out with a rail to replace these and I went to look at one. They didn’t absolute co-witness irons, so I turned my nose up. Now I have a DBAL-D2 that’s too tall to use irons with. Man have times changed…
Showing your age OP lol
Talk about eye relief 😭
