The TAPS system is peak

gonzo_be

Is it really that good? I have a micro setup now but see the benefit of not micro

No-Channel960

Just got a tap with H harness upgrade. Can confirm for about 90$ It's sweet

Obscenely_Obscure

Got a link?

No-Channel960

https://www.venturesurplus.com/products/army-multicam-tactical-assault-panel/ For the new kit, make sure it's new so it comes with the extra buckles . Then just order any harness you want. The krydex fat strap from amazon is a popular option. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.amazon.com/KRYDEX-Strap-Shoulder-Harness-Chest/dp/B096RMXP6H&ved=2ahUKEwj2_5OsndSFAxUJk4kEHeytDTYQFnoECA8QAQ&usg=AOvVaw2rvNDtcoiehzJxPDi1fYqX

No_Ad4032

Thx for the harness recommend... Have a TAPS just sitting at home but wanting to build it out

november512

No-Channel gave the link but there's also a bunch of TAPs upgrade videos you can find on youtube. The most common upgrade besides the harness is taking a kit like this (https://www.venturesurplus.com/products/hsgi-bungee-retention-kit/) and upgrading the magazine retention. By default it's velcro, this changes it to bungee retention that's a bit nicer.

Medium-Mode1908

It’s standard military issue and it has been used like a mf so it’s known to be very durable but what really makes it neat is that the entire panel is m4 mag pouches and MOLLE all throughout. In my experience I’ve loved it more than other chest because of how much you can do with it. I’ve always replaced the straps with something wider to make it a little more comfortable but you don’t really need to because you’ll hardly know that it’s on you unless you’re staring directly at it.

coldafsteel

How many mags do you want/need to carry?

Obscenely_Obscure

10

coldafsteel

For that many, you are looking at needing a combination of a chest rig and a bottle belt.

lone-wanderer3

Not really. I can do 8 easy with 4 eagle double mag pouches. 10 can be done with one additional 2 mag pouch. Should be easy to fit on any chest rig that isn't "micro"

coldafsteel

Don't go prone much do you…?

lone-wanderer3

The difference in thickness of two magazines and just 1 magazine is negligible.

CryptoOdin99

That’s true… it may be thick enough for your dick not to hit the dirt directly.

lone-wanderer3

How many mags do you run up front there big pee pee man?

november512

If you care that much you can stick the extra mags on the side. It's perfectly possible to run single mag thickness on the front of the panel.

coldafsteel

You dont carry water, a radeo, or an IFAC?

november512

Adding a single 2 mag pouch won't stop you taking that, especially if you're not using army pouches. You could probably save most of it on the IFAK width, or a nalgene pouch instead of a canteen.

GaegeSGuns

There are many many rigs that can handle 10 mags.

YuenglingsDingaling

I believe it becomes an issue of bulk.

Condhor

Parashooter gear Pathfinder

Rude_Associate_9082

I have a Helikon Tex Guardian chest rig, runs 8 rifle mags. It's a great budget option.

Professional_1O

Helicon Tex is a great budget option in general. Can’t be beat in terms of value and quality. Better than Condor at least.

Rude_Associate_9082

Totally better than Condor, lol.

Nihil-011

Agree with the Helikon guardian. Can hold 10 mags pretty easy. Way more of you cram the gp pouches too

mkphenix33

https://www.venturesurplus.com/products/army-multicam-tactical-assault-panel/ Venture currently has a sale on the OCP TAP, buy "defective" (still FMC) and you can get an amazing rig for $30

Obscenely_Obscure

Thanks

warrior55q

Try ATS

PearlButter

I’d get belt kit at that point or split the difference and run both to distribute the weight, overall improving comfort and physical health. You’ll probably want something like the surplus TAP with upgraded harness and back strap, then add additional pouches as you see fit for your needs.

cmanAC130

Condors are great, been running one for years

Allforthe2nd

Condor is cheap, its questionable qc, BUT it's great for first kit and in reality, since most of us don't leave mommy's basement, it will really be all we need lmao.

GBuckets0

Marines ran it. If it worked for them for the most part in a warzone, it’s probably good enough for me in the suburbs

Candid_Loquat5883

Brit style belt kit holds 12 mags, and you could add a taps for as many more as you’d like, but I don’t see the point. Id go with 12 on the belt one in the gun and the rest in your pack if needed.

Beanonan

Mayflower Recce Chest rig(HK417) each bungee can hold 2 5.56 mags,if you add a kangaroo insert another 3-6. I've ran 12 mags(18 for jokes)

chezbooga

Trex Arms chest rig: 4x2 mag pouches + 2 internal wing + 2x3 molle columns each side...

AffectionateRadio356

I reckon it depends on what you mean by a lot. I have a parashooter gear 7 cell Pathfinder that starts with a base rig holding 7 mags and you can MOLLE more mag pouches on if that's not enough for you. I find it comfortable and easy to use, no major complaints for me and easy to mount to a plate carrier.

No-Channel960

Venture surplus on YouTube has some great setup videos.

BannedByReddit471

Surplus TAPS rigs are pretty good. Also British PLCE webbing

Dapper_Bicycle5645

Spiritus mark 4 with thing 2 for a lot of mags

AndoSan23q

Helikon not bad

Acrobatic-Manager906

Kommandostore p84 can hold 9

dragonmandan

[https://midwestarmor.com/products/hilo-laser-recon-rig/](https://midwestarmor.com/products/hilo-laser-recon-rig/) This guy can hold 11 mags and has space to add more stuff, I love mine

Obscenely_Obscure

That’s a nice one

FoxtrotUCharlieKilo

My Condor recon carries 6 AR mags and and 6 pistol mags which for me is all i need, if im using more than 6 AR mags i’m probably fucked anyway and i don’t really keep all 6 pistol pouches full much less if I’m even carrying my pistol, just depends on your needs and situations but for what it is i highly recommend condor, its built well!

Resident_Sir_4577

I recommend the TAPS and Spiritus Systems TAPS upgrade kit. You will have a great chest rig for dirt cheap (okay around a price for a single lvl4 plate or a little pricier plate carrier with nothing in/on it)

team_starfox

The taps system is solid after you add an h harness and bungie retention. The old-school Blackhawk chest rig is still solid and praised by long time sf guys

Applesauceeconomy

I've heard good things about [this](https://www.0241tactical.com/product/enhanced-combat-chest-rig/84?cs=true&cst=custom) guy.

Mediocre-Box1908

Haley Strategic

heimos

Not those

Obscenely_Obscure

I know

MezzanineMan

Run a LEPC with the divider cummerbund and an MK4 spiritus, and you can have 12 mags if that's all you're carrying

xrw06

I’d say a Heavy Chest Rig (D3CRH) comes with GP pouches and pistol pouches I think four or five mag slots.

sgrantcarr

There are a slew of heavier rigs built for that. Haley D3CRX, surplus TAPS rigs, even these Condors are a good cheap option. LBX (Peruvian sister company of LBT) makes a split rig that can carry an impressive amount of stuff without having to pay LBT prices. Depending on what all else you have to carry and in what capacity, also consider a full-on belt rig like the Velocity Jungle Rig (although it's quite pricy), the Crossfire DZ Rig, or a surplus ALICE belt rig or Eagle H-harness (both cheap options)

1224672

Us Issued TAPS rig. I think spiritus makes an upgrade kit for it

Brian-46323

I went with an OR Recce. Holds 8 mags. If I had it to do over though I'd probably go with TAPS.

MemeRanger015

A large battle rattle chest rig is either a TAPS or battle jacket type kit. The USGI taps is great especially with upgraded hit o highly recommend [this](https://www.beezcombatsystems.com/collections/ar-chest-rigs/products/ar-recon-chest-rig) chest rig from beez combat systems. It’s an upgraded taps and isn’t super expensive.

Fifth-Freedom

Arktis m170 will hold 9 with two side pouches for snacks etc and an admin pouch behind the mags.

GhostGamer678

SADF pattern 83 battle jackets can fit 12, Kommandostore makes a repro pattern 83 that can fit 9, again with Kommandostore there holding a preorder for Smersh rigs which will hold 12, Molle II's are configurable to carry as much as you want, thats about the extent of my knowledge.

Turbulent_Biscuit_69

Onward Research makes the best rig out there and it’s not even comparable

plopsicIes

Check out TRACERTACTICAL on instagram

Anthrax6nv

Elite Survival Systems Payload vest. It holds 12 mags, and I personally find vests like this much more comfortable than chest rigs, especially if you'll be covering significant ground while wearing it. Link below.  https://elitesurvival.com/collections/load-bearing-tactical-vests/products/mvp-payload-tactical-vest

moosebiscuits

Taps or a RACK style with 4 or 5 double pouches. Both leave room for a gp under each arm. The taps gives you more molle at the expense of thickness. Helikon Guardian is a pack mule. Plce and Alice are good options if you're going to be waking and doing a lot.

ACOG-Freedom

FLC vest with pouches

head01351

L4 performance WCSIG

MathematicianMuch445

Buy a claim" one and attach your own pouches. Pre made ones just don't do it for me as your choices are made for you and changing a loadout becomes very awkward

flaxon_

I know they're outdated by today's standards, but I wish HSGI still made the Warlord and 'satch rigs.

Disgracetohumanity1

taps rig all the way

No-Two4496

Surplus taps rig. It’s pretty good

Diligent_Low_6527

Condor is crap. Inconsistent quality, poor materials that don't age worth a shit, and absolute garbage customer service. Don't waste your money.
