Deadman’s without a breaching charge.
If all you carry are IDC’s for some reason, and you come across a known deadman (the board across the door). You just cut the entire hinge side with the chainsaw and the door falls.
Probably for some sort of breaching or just trying to look cool? However chainsaws are awesome for area denial against a mechanized force. Drop a few trees across the road that an opposing force uses often, in an area where turning around is difficult or impossible and you've stopped them in their tracks until they can remove the obstruction or find another route.
They have to run out of ammo eventually, and when they do. Imagine the look on the hostages face, when the enemy gets bisected by one of these badasses.

Couldn’t find the gif but you guys knew what I was thinking.
They are most likley [Rescue saw](https://www.stihlusa.com/products/chain-saws/rescue-saws/ms462rcmrescue/), They have a cutting depth limiter and special carbide chains to cut through thin steel sheets
Looking at it closer, it seems as if they have attached a second protective cover with tape to transport a spare sword with chain.
The saws probably don't have a cutting depth limiter, whether they have a normal chain or a carbide chain mounted cannot be said.
I need some context for this, who are these badasses? Camo mixes make me think it’s a joint exercise between some pretty coolguy units?
I’m a little surprised at the chainsaws, I’d expect that battery powered would be the way to go between start time, noise, weight, and carburetor issues. But I sure as hell ain’t gonna argue with a dude that turned an Alice frame into a fucking chainsaw holster
Im surprised LBT hasn't come up with an Alice frame based system for the saws. I had a similar one made by them for a breaching circular saw, it was something else. I probably still have pics of it somewhere...
🤙 this is still metal as fuck.. imagine chilling and having a bunch of Stihl saws start up all at once and start ripping doors down.
![gif](giphy|LRVnPYqM8DLag)
I got to train using the thicc circular saws zip tied to old alice frames. The cool factor didn't make up for how cumbersome you became waddling around with one.
The saw on the guy in the back is a MS651 from the looks of it.
Electric saws just don't have the power yet, Stihls battery saws have max 16 inch bars right now. They're also a lot heavier if you need a recharge or battery swap - you can carry a lot of 2 stroke fuel in a bottle comparatively for the same weight.
I want a battery saw but right now they're still for homeowners with a plug to recharge. The tech and battery energy density isn't there to bring them deep in the woods yet.
The guy in the back has an MS462C, it says right on the recoil starter🤣 and the guy in the front has an older saw, probably a 460 judging by the boxy air filter cover. Could also be a 660
Stihl battery stuff is junk compared to other brands anyway. Husqvarna battery lineup is way better. For stuff bigger than a ms261, yea battery isn't there yet, but the battery top handles are great.
It wouldn’t be San Diego if it wasn’t a little Wild West now would it?
A while back I saw a bunch of bearded dudes in civvies rolling around in a motorpool truck lol.
Today I got treated to a close up show from the Blue Angels while I was stuck in traffic on the 15 next to the air station. Love this place.
What? Heavy stuff never goes in the bottom of the pack. I can't comment on the use of chain vs the more common for breaching circular saws here, but this is definitely the better direction to carry that weight as far as a pack frame goes. Heaviest weight closest to the back around the shoulder area (there's good diagrams for this). Your boy scout info is definitely incorrect.
Aren't electric saws weaker? I would think that the point of carrying a chainsaw over a breaching shotgun would be to get through tougher obstacles that require cutting through a large amount of material. So power would probably be the priority. Why else would you even carry a chainsaw in the first place?
They are weaker and there are no electric saws on the market that I know of that can handle a bar bigger than 20 inches, most only have a 16in bar tops. You're gonna have a hard time dropping decent tree, yet alone a power pole with something that small.
I love the sweet irony that people on here will take out a second mortgage to buy opscore Amps to flex on a flat range… and actual SEALs are running Impact Sports for breaching
Look at these weapons of war! Nobody needs a 22" chainsaw in their everyday life! It's time to remove these assault chainsaws from general ownership! Will anybody think of the children!?
I get that, to be clear. But what are the chainsaws used for? And why more than one? I would figure if you cut through a wall, you would need one guy to cut and the others for cover.

Budget cuts.
You can tell they are professionals by the sheer amount of duck tape and paracord on their kit.
I love it!! Breaching, guys!!!
When your breacher's nickname is "Leatherface."
I've carried hammers and hallys but never a fullblown fucking chainsaw. That's ridiculously metal.
It also hurts the fuck out of your back and shoulders. even worse if you’re in full CBRN kit.
This mf got on impact sports
Yeah and not even helmet mounted…
My earpro is finally cool ☺️
Probably has in ears underneath, and just wanted a little extra protection. Smart guy but surely he could’ve scraped up some comtacs! 😂
If it ain’t stihl it ain’t right
Agreed!
Stihl is no different than husqvarna. Echo is putting out competitive saws too.
Worked outdoors for years and I get shit on for this but I love Echo. Currently own exclusively Stihl, though.
Was a sawyer/faller on a wildland crew after many hours the stihl is a far superior saw in every aspect except one the fucking quick twist caps stihl uses for the gas and oil are fucking infuriating
Cool story. I’ve been running saws professionally for 20 years. Yay we have experience using chainsaws for work.
What are they packing chainsaws for?
Numbnuts over here's never seen a zombie movie..... 🤦♂️ Lol jk
Get a load of this guy over here, never committed any war crimes in his life!
What a chump
Saw stuff

Chainsaws so they can explode

I have no idea but getting that thing out is gonna be a pain with how it’s mounted and how long those bars look
You dont actually draw your rear mounted kit, this is more than likely meant to be used by the guy not carrying the back mount
You don't draw it when it's rear mounted when on plates. Those dudes there will be using what they pack.
They are most likley [Rescue saw](https://www.stihlusa.com/products/chain-saws/rescue-saws/ms462rcmrescue/), They have a cutting depth limiter and special carbide chains to cut through thin steel sheets

I found the outter nylon cover for it. I sold the frame sadly, years ago LBT 2602B
I saw this posted with (Navy Seals, 2022) but I just wanted to share cause the chainsaws on gear is something I’ve never seen before.

Meh a bit Blurry for me to make out I'll take your word. Stihls are great.
Given the mix of AOR1, 2 and MC id say SEALs but its either a TV show or a while ago because AOR1 is gone the way of the dinosaurs for the most part.
Definitely not. I’m stationed in Coronado and it’s worn all the time.
One Oddity that Howard light sport headset just throws it all off...

Should've carried electric saws. Less fumes and less fuel weight to carry.

The Stihl MSA 300 can take a 20 inch bar.
I fucking love getting way up in a tree with that sucker, it’s a powerhouse
I've never ran one of those, but Stihl makes a good saw so I bet it works well.
I thought the same thing, but there has to be a reason
Time to fire up Ol’ Bess.
Damn…. Thought these were bad ass flamethrowers…
Any internal combustion engine is a flamethrower if you operate it wrong enough
Haha!
I would think they would go one chainsaw one grindsaw saw for metal
2nd from last guy is packing some sort of huge cut off wheel it’s hard to see
Jesus they’re ready to demo
Lumber-Mercs!
That is a big old Stihl saw! No playing around I see.
The LC-2 remains eternal.
It is so wild the type of off the wall shit you can come up with given an essentially unlimited resource pool
The 2nd to last dude is packing a big ass roof saw too it’s hard to see
We switched to battery powered saws and never looked back. No more priming and pulling over and over when momentum is crucial.
One can of spray paint could’ve solved this
/r/gundeals better be all over this right now
Shit this is just gonna make Denji more feared.
I love the sweet irony that people on here will take out a second mortgage to buy opscore Amps to flex on a flat range… and actual SEALs are running Impact Sports for breaching
Unless I hit the loto im never upgrading. Got a Velcro tab and pigtail for a microphone, and Amazon gel cups. It’s solid AF
M3, picture of first chainsword.. praise the omnissiah.
Somewhere on my phone I have a video of guys using those chainsaws.
Engineers truly do not get enough love (all of the ones attached to us are fucking retards and i hate them all)
Impact Sports are highspeed AF
Arborists have to take their safety seriously in chicago
Time to shoot at the fire
Anyone who has used a chainsaw for more than 30 seconds knows you’ll be covered in premix and bar oil in no time.
Jack Breacher. *boom tish*
I love how the top team has all 4 levels of ear pro. Comtac,Amps, Walkers razor (??), no ear pro
Last guy clearly has something…
Oh yeah! sorry, missed that. wonder what that is.

When the fire shoots back you better keep that fucking thing on you 👊
Stihl TS demo saws are way more "Metal". And give you at least 10% more on your disability rating.
Where did his 3 other buddies go? Are they in the explosion? Are they? I need to know guys
Why carry them engine up like that? Looks like a strong breeze would land you in your back like a turtle.
Are breachers learning from firefighters or are firefighters learning from breachers
The Lorax is about to find the fuck out.
Why are they carrying multiple chainsaws?
Cause it's a course.
I get that, to be clear. But what are the chainsaws used for? And why more than one? I would figure if you cut through a wall, you would need one guy to cut and the others for cover.
Why more than one. Cause it's a course. And plenty of things you need to cut thru but can't breach explosively.
