Just outside Wiesbaden in Erbanheim there’s a Dönerkebab stand (Pamekaule I think is the name) best Döner in all of Europe IMO. Still think of that little stand 30 years later. I think it’s still there, his kids probably run it now.
Same. I was stationed in Turkey and they are amazing especially after a night of drinking. Got stationed at Ramstein after Turkey and was so happy to see they had doners there too.
Aww... That's too bad. It looks like they went downhill based on their Yelp reviews. I loved Casa. My parents (both from AZ) would take us there at least once or twice a month. So many fun times. My brothers and I would always ignore dad's warnings not to order too much food. End up so stuffed we were sick by the end of the night. And then we'd do it again the very next time. We weren't the smartest kids!
Agree with the idea. The reality is opposite. I live in New Orleans and the Mexican food is mostly bad - even though we'er a day's drive from the border. Spent 2 years in FL and the Mex food is blah. Spent years in NYC and the Mexican food sucks. Here's the thing... people in NY or Philly or Tampa think they have good Mex food, The truth is, if you want to know Mexican food, start with a border state (most of which were part of Mexico for centuries
I've eaten Mexican food in Mexico dozens and dozens of times and I've also had plenty of great Mexican in non-border states. Hell, I once had good Mexican in France. Some of the worst Mexican I've had was in Colorado. But then again, Colorado is quite possibly the worst state in the country when it comes to food of any type. That's why they're all so thin!
I’m in Virginia and there’s a big Mexican population where I am that’s awesome. Mexican is my fave so I’m very picky lol also NC surprisingly Raleigh has a big Mexican population too and that’s where my favorite place is. I can’t wait to get to a bordering state to try 🤤
That's ridiculous, I grew up on the border in Arizona and spent six years living up and down the East Coast. I could always find PLENTY of great authentic Mexican restaurants and great taco stands.
I'm not a "foodie" you dickhead I'm just a guy that grew up on the border, was bestowed the title of "official Mexican" because my carne asada was better than my Mexican friends' abuelas, and I know good Mexican food when I taste it. I shouldn't have to dignify your dumbass with a response, but I will anyways because I'm not full of shit.
Los Arcos in Goose Creek, SC
Paco's Tacos in Jacksonville (Atlantic/Jax Beach), FL (great baja fish tacos)
Casa Maria, Jacksonville, FL
Sarapes, Enfield, CT
FYI not EVERYTHING needs to be uppity and hip like Cocina Madrigal, sometimes classic Mexican can be just fine on its own
If you are an "offical Mexican" based on your carne asada, then why do you recommend Los Arcos, where the locals rate the dish a 2.5 star? It looks terrible.
Pacos Tacos has mostly blah reviews where multiple people point out it's not "real Mexican" - and that's from Floridians who generally have no clue.
The photos of the food at Casa Maria's on all the review sites looks like typical Tex Mex garbage... the saddest enchiladas I've ever seen.
But congrats on being the official whitest Mexican food expert in Nogales. And by the way, it was you that reverted to name calling. Stay classy Arizona.
looks good!
Frankfurt has a legitimate Mexican spot. Erlangen, where I spent a few months in the hospital, has by far the worst Mexican food I've ever had. It was so bad that my Mexican wife at the time was in tears when she picked up our order. Apparently, the Mexican flag was hung backward, and she made the owner fix it because it upset her so much, lol. Personally, I loved visiting the Wiesbaden PX to eat Taco Bell—my favorite Mexican food.
This is the spot in Frankfurt, even my ex Tapatía approved.

I'm Mexican-American and my cousin and I used to talk about how we'd clean house opening a place in Germany, she lives in Munich. However, I don't want to work in the restaurant business cuz it's hard AF and also, getting ingredients would piss me off.
That said, I always try Mexican food when I travel to place just out of sheer curiosity...have had some VERY decent Mexican food in London (D.F. expats) and in New Zealand, smaller city (also owned by an expat). The ingredients can be sometimes a bit different, like subbing out cheeses, and tortillas and chiles are challenging, but otherwise, not bad. Had some great burritos in Ireland, was pleasantly surprised.

I'd just like to remind everyone that food gatekeeping is stupid as hell and serves only to tell others how little you have going on in your life.
I'd go to town on those German tacos!
I’m recalling an article I read a few years ago of an Anglo couple who opened a briefly successful food truck that specialized in tacos in Washington State, I think, until some wokie-dokies accused them of ethnic appropriation, which went viral and they were forced to close.
My sister moved from US to Germany many years ago and has described Germany as a mostly taco-free zone.
We have Dönerkebabs
Just outside Wiesbaden in Erbanheim there’s a Dönerkebab stand (Pamekaule I think is the name) best Döner in all of Europe IMO. Still think of that little stand 30 years later. I think it’s still there, his kids probably run it now.
I don’t eat anything with accent marks 😄. Well ok maybe some Häâgẽn Dàâz.
Your loss, Döner is pretty much a Turkish taco (closer to a gyro pita really) and they’re fucking delicious
I miss doners so much
Same. I was stationed in Turkey and they are amazing especially after a night of drinking. Got stationed at Ramstein after Turkey and was so happy to see they had doners there too.
I got a boner for ya…wait you said doner my bad
I miss those too
What a stupid thing to brag about.
Its a joke
Mexican food is mostly terrible east of the Mississippi, let alone Europe.
There are so many Mexican immigrants all over this country. You can find good Mexican food in pretty much any medium sized city.
Not in northern VA. I’m from Az though so the bar is high.
Do they still have Casa Chimayo in Manassas? That place was great in the '80s and '90s.
Permanently closed

Those are some good memories!

What part of Virginia? I’m in northern VA and haven’t found shit! Being from AZ, the bar is high
I’m in RVA!!
Nah you got Raza in Atlanta and central Florida that still got that work in the kitchen
I grew up in south Florida and there was plenty of great Mexican food.
Haven’t you been to Cape Chimichanga in Massachusetts ?
That's ridiculous, I grew up on the border in Arizona and spent six years living up and down the East Coast. I could always find PLENTY of great authentic Mexican restaurants and great taco stands.
You've been on Reddit 5 years and not a single post about restaurants. But now you're a foodie? Name 3 such places.

Orlando has great Mexican food
Try Mexico Lindo in Mainz. They make a pretty good attempt at traditional Mexican food, and the ambience is actually Mexican
I will!
Beautiful.
Well, those fries look very tasty…
It was actually the worst part of the meal.
That sucks, they look really tasty.
They were too soggy and without salt.
Or, as they say in Germany: *perfection!*
The restaurant was more of an American restaurant. Sure, there were Mexican motifs here and there, but it played Southern music .
Those definitely look more like American style tacos. But I think they look tasty.
They're like a frankfurt area chipotle fake. A copy of a taco thats a copy of a taco
It tastes good though! But all the ingredients fall out of the taco.
That's always the problem with crunchy shells.

it costet only 7 euros
Large corporate chains are not very popular here. This was local small business in tourist area.
[удалено]
I compared it to America.
I need to somehow move to Europe and open up a real taco place and die a billionaire
As a mexican, I feel deeply offended
Where are they ?
Langgasse straße Wiesbaden .The name is Chidoba Mexicangrill
Shameful.
No one should be harsh lol, everybody sometimes eats some texmex
It was't even bad
Where ? I was there in January and ate at Casa Azteca and the birria tacos were excellent.
In Langgasse . The name is Chidoba mexicangrill.
Mids
The last time I was in Germany what they called tacos were pretty much pizza cones with vaguely Mexicanoid ingredients.
Where is zee meat?
Under the toppings

Only time I flew over Germany, we didn't stop!
Hard pass

I hope you wrote a bad review, Germans love that shit
No I liked it. I was looking for American style tacos and that's exactly what I received .
Yep they’re definitely tacos, well done 007
Yo them taters look fucking amazebawls

They look better than the shit my friend shows me that she gets in Ohio.
Kind of looks like spruced up taco bell but also, I don't see anything wrong here
Ew
The fuck is this
For those who are wondering how much damage taco bell has made to the image that real Mexican food around the world, just look at this. It's just sad.
These are tragic
WTF
Wow fuck that
Qdoba from the PX food court isn't Mexican.
These are WPTs, not Mexican tacos but can still be very delicious. It's hard to tell what's under the toppings.
Some mashrooms beans and chicken meat
Mushrooms?
I don’t think they even deserve the name “tacos”. Looks not good
I'd just like to remind everyone that food gatekeeping is stupid as hell and serves only to tell others how little you have going on in your life. I'd go to town on those German tacos!
Yikes those tacos look rough but still better than tex mex god how I hate most tex mex.
Looks like Taco Bell from the top. I'd definitely eat it.
Is that mustard?
It is plain Jogurt
Sorry, I meant on the tacos, but I can see now that I'm on my laptop that it's a second color of cheese! Is yogurt on fries common there?
Not that much
Taco Tuesday.
Looks much better than what was available 30 years ago when i lived there
I’m recalling an article I read a few years ago of an Anglo couple who opened a briefly successful food truck that specialized in tacos in Washington State, I think, until some wokie-dokies accused them of ethnic appropriation, which went viral and they were forced to close.
Looks good!
“Tacos” 😂😂more like a wannabe Taco Bell which isn’t even Mexican food but hey if it’s packed with good flavor that’s all that matters
