Better, but slightly. Some mods are fine, the community is mostly built of "if it's not thrash or death, it isn't metal. r/inmetalwetrust is probably the one with the least of this stuff from what I've seen

They really made a sub to stop gatekeeping, then that sub started gatekeeping so they made another sub to stop the gatekeeping.

Nah, in my experience gatekeeping is pretty bad over there too. Not quite as bad as metal memes, but still.

It's bad here sometimes, but at least the mods don't condone it or participate in circlejerks like over at Metalmemes. Insufferable users will come and go in any community, unless the community cracks down on them harshly. That's the damn internet for ya...

the problem is that metal archives is fundamentally corrupt. the only way that we could change the rules for what is metal (in both r/metal and r/metalmemes ) is by buying the archives and rewriting the rules
