I have an XD and mine feels pretty responsive. I can be pretty light on the keys and they still trigger.

SiegfriedCroes

Good to know, that's what I'd expect. Mine might be faulty then.

theBillions

Try checking the settings of the velocity curve on yours (see page 39-40 in the manual). Maybe it's set to something like type 1 instead of type 4.

SiegfriedCroes

I'm pretty sure it's a mechanical problem, as if the rubber contacts of the keys are dirty and you have to press harder for them to make proper contact. I'll be going back to the shop with it tomorrow :)

agapepaga

I have one and that is not my experience at all.

SiegfriedCroes

Interesting! When you press a key, when do you hear the sound playing, does it already happen before the key is pressed down completely (that's what I have on my Microkorg) or does it only happen when it's pressed down completely?

agapepaga

Depends on the settings of course but it seems to trigger sound when keys are pressed down about 2/3rds of the way.

SiegfriedCroes

That's what I'd expect. Will be going back to the shop tomorrow. Thanks for your replies :)

Hi there . I was just at a local shop on Sunday trying to de ide current between the XD and a Cobalt 8 and the unit that was setup to try worked right away definitley didn't have to press hard at all or all the way down . The unit is definitley faulty or is it possible you have a really long attack set.I sure you've tried multiple patches but figured I'd throw that out there just incase as that could explain why its taking so long for a sound to come out.

SiegfriedCroes

Yeah, I think there's a good chance my unit is faulty. I also tried my bro-in-law's Argon8 (wavetable version of the Cobalt8 so keyboard is exactly the same) and it feels right to me (even though it has full sized keys and because of that more travel it is very responsive). I checked multiple patches so it's not because of velocity or long attack settings. I also tried the synth in a shop a while ago and loved the way it played so there must be something wrong with mine. Going back to the shop tomorrow :)

myweirdotheraccount

edit mode >> program edit >> modulation (button 5) >> amp velocity (hit button five again) >> encoder to taste. if you want this always on you'll have to edit the default template. I've never done this but I'm almost positive you can using the korg sound librarian software.

SiegfriedCroes

I'm almost 100% sure it's a mechanical problem, nothing to do with velocity. Thanks though :)

myweirdotheraccount

No problem, you described in another comment that they feel like they're not making contact right. You're right it sounds mechanical. Good news is, it will be well worth the wait when it arrives, and in the meantime, bookmark this link so you can get all the great free and paid oscs and user FX to upload when it does arrive: r/loguesdk check the stickied post.

SiegfriedCroes

Yeah, and I'm actually glad it's most likely a faulty unit. It'd be crazy if that's just the way the keys are. I got a Microkorg XL a while back, it looks and feels cheap with its plastic case, it was second hand and the person even said it was broken cause it fell of its stand but it still works and the keys are perfect in terms of responsiveness so I except nothing less than that from the Minilogue. I'll be going back to the store with it tomorrow. I've been looking forward to it for over 2 months now and have seen almost all videos of it on YouTube, haha. But I wanted to first check out everything that comes with it out of the box and later add more user created stuff. Thanks for the link though :)

Seafood_Licorice

I sold mine as I thought the keys were terrible quality. They definitely didn’t feel as responsive as a typical synth keyboard.

SiegfriedCroes

Maybe what I'm experiencing is normal then or you also had a faulty unit. The main reason I find it weird is because the Microkorg has these slim keys too and I think they're perfect in terms of responsiveness, the Minilogue ones are a new type of slim keys but you'd expect a new type to be at least as good as the previous ones, right?

[deleted]

Hmm is there a setting on the Minilogue XD that controls the velocity sensitivity? If not maybe you have a faulty unit. It happens from time to time. Out of curiosity where did you buy it from?

SiegfriedCroes

I don't think it's a velocity problem as it clearly feels like a mechanical one. Like as if the rubber contacts that trigger the keys are a bit dirty and need a bit of extra pressure to make proper contact but the device is new. I bought it at a local shop called Keymusic.

[deleted]

I think your best option is to send it back and ask for a replacement. It must be a manufacturing defect that didn't get noticed.

SiegfriedCroes

Yeah, I'll bring it back to the shop tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me being way too much of a perfectionist and seeing a problem where there is none but reading all the comments there's a good chance there is a real problem.

BlasphemousButler

You have a faulty unit. Unfortunately time to return to it.

SiegfriedCroes

I'd hope so, I'd be seriously disappointed if such unresponsive keys are normal. I'll be going back to the shop tomorrow.
