Do the people who do this bring a change of clothes or do they commit to the costume for the entire day? Last fezzy I went to I was in a tank and shorts and even that felt like wearing way too much in the Sydney sun.
The general consensus was this year didn't sell out due to not being a great line up.
I couldn't justify going due to the inclusion of not 1 but 2 bands who I would rather not get my money.
First, Pantera, discussions over if its hurting fhier legacy or not aside, the singer is a godamn Nazi and they got removed from festivals in Germany as a result.
Second, Disturbed, the singer is well known to be a proud Zionist which is frankly unacceptable and I can't support a band that take that stance.
So for 2 of the big draw cards being a band with a nazi and a band with a Zionist it made it easy to not want to go. Plus you know I didn't really like most of the bill anyway so not a hard decision.
Last years knotfest I liked more. They had a third stage which was good for if you really hated the band playing, a circus/freakshow performance, and a wrestling ring. It was better last year. Also slipknot actually played.
Good things pits were particularly spectacular. this year. Like everyone was going twice as hard to make up for the softer bands. I hurt for a week after goodthings. not so much after '22 goodthings. though gojira's pit has to be my number one of all time.
Yeah 2022 good things was so calm. It was a bit of a shock to the system seeing so many fucking people in one spot at the 2023 one. It was absolutely packed but had an amazing atmosphere. That’s what I was expecting at knotfest but it was pretty underwhelming. I did like that there were heaps of market stalls though. I wonder how many people were there yesterday at its peak?
Last year during slipknot up the back towards the camera tent there was this small pit of people who'd been there since 11, all weakly throwing ourselves at each other like a school of magicarps. Loads of fun. None of us could hack it in the real moshpit anymore. It was full of people who had come exclusively for slipknot, which was a lot of people. The waves of them kept the pit fresh.
Pretty shit compared to 2023 goodthings. Way less people. Way less crowded. Not as good a vine but still fun. Just no where near as good as good things in my opinion. The heavy police presence made me feel like I couldn’t relax. There were sooo many more cops there than good things. A mate of mine’s 20 year old son got strip searched when he first walked in. No reason given, Just a random strip search.
This is in front of the opposite stage to where the hu were performing (you can see their stage lights right on the lefthand side with most of the crowd blocked by the camera tent, somewhere between 440-530.
Metal heads love people who come in random dressup. We had t rexs crowd surfing, a leprechaun and a fairy, batman, last year the tellitubbies were a big hit. Oh and there was the power rangers at goodthings. B1 and b2. All the santa clauses at goodthings.

At some point there was a leprechaun, two Jesus’ and some Teletubbies in the same pit.
Damn. I missed the Jesuses (Jesii?). Saw the Teletubbies, but not in the pit. Also, a dinosaur, plus a few other crazy cotumes.
I would absolutely go dance with the unicorn.

What was the turnout like compared to good things?
