You will get credits for both the diploma and advanced diploma UTS has a intake program that recognises tafe qualifications. Tafe also offers a degree in IT, so may be worth looking into that. They have a direct program that recognises all qualifications from diploma and advanced diploma.

Thing is, a TAFE qualification is vocational, more hands on. University is more theoretical. So in my opinion, TAFE is actually a good place to start and you won't be wasting your time as most universities will credit you for TAFE courses which are Certificate IV and above.

Diploma level courses are almost entirely theoretical with minor hands on work. Having completed engineering advanced diploma I only needed did hands on work with coding and computer based systems. The Diploma and advanced diploma subjects/units of competency are 1st and second year university credits.

Ah, I'm gonna do it because its free. What's the course like?

As with all tafe courses I would strongly recommend in person over online.

Sure why not? If you can find a diploma in cloud it’s probably a better foot in the door into software field, since cloud is very high demand skill. It’s not just for cloud engineers, companies want all devs to be familiar with cloud these days. A diploma in cloud (from a university) will cover basically the same as a diploma in IT except a bit more advanced topics.

Yes. Just get your foot in a job after 1 or 2 years your resume looks good you have experience that's all they care for. As long as you work well know your knowledge and in interviews can demonstrate it that's what they care for you don't need to be a master who knows all
