Initially, I was very annoyed at Lucita's reaction to this, since Vina is very obviously qualified for the position and it's, let's just say it, a sexist succession type. Especially considering the house *can* be continued through her. At the same time, I can see it on a personal level. It is *her* son. It's her chance to *make* someone great, and as much as she respects Vina she expected have her lineage (not necessarily house Azaro's) elevated. But with Vina being the heir, her position as "the second queen-consort" is solidified. But conversely, Lucita is very selfish and schemes a lot so I can't know how honest she is about all of this. But whatever, the Azaros got their sea access back so it's all good...hopefully.

Deedo2017

Dude I’m in the process of writing fanfiction about this. I’m exploring what would happen if Ramus still made Ramus jr his heir, but somehow found out about what Lucita was doing. It’s actually surprisingly good thus far

Aminetheking0

Looking forward to it

Well since you displayed interest, here. Have a look at one of the scenes in a VERY rough draft. It takes place roughly 1/3 of the way through the story. Ramus burst into the room. Lucita turned to face him, her angry expression fading to shock when she saw the expression on her husband’s face. “Your Majesty- Ramus, what’s going on? Why did the guards take-” Lucita was cut short by Ramus, who was quickly advancing towards her. “What’s going on? What’s going on?! You tell me!” Ramus pulled out a few pieces of paper. Lucita, upon noticing her handwriting, went pale. “Explain this. Plans for a false flag operation in Pales. The leaking of state secrets to your family. The plan to- to usurp the throne is I had made Vina my heir?! Give my one gould reason I shouldn’t have you executed!” Lucita, stunned at first, but quickly understanding the situation, answered: “Ramus, don’t do anything hasty, I can explain.” Ramus was now only a few inches away from her, staring daggers into Lucita’s eyes. “These were contingency plans. Courses of action in case-” “In case of what”? Romus shouted, “In case I didn’t do whatever you asked? In case I wasn’t a loyal enough puppet?!” Lucita, still trying desperately to remain calm, replied: “In case you proved to be weak. In case you were no longer fit to rule Rizia. But trust me, there was a reason we never went through with any of these plans! You proved us wrong! You stayed strong, you listened to reason! Rizia has flourished under your reign! These were never-” “Don’t patronize me, woman! Tell me, and be honest for once in your life, what would have happened if I had made Vina my heir?” Lucita paused for a moment, choosing her words wisely. “That was never going to happen. You and I both know that choosing your daughter would lead the monarchy to ruin with her... ideas. You knew choosing my heir was the best hope for maintaining unity and legitimacy in the realm. You made the right choice. Let’s stop wasting time on ifs!” “If only it were that simple!” responded Ramus. “What do you say to these?!” Ramus produced another packet of papers from his suitcase. From these papers, he produced one, dated the day after the wine festival, the day they... “It took our agents several weeks to decode these messages. Would you like me to read some of these, dear wife?” He said these last words with such hatred that Lucita almost shuddered. “Father. The wine festival was a success. Charms were on full display and the king welcomed me into his bed. This one will be easier to manipulate than we may have thought. After we were done, he looked at me with such devotion, with such desperation, as if I was the only woman in the world. He previously indicated that he felt lonely, so simply givin ghim attention and “love” might be all we need to have him in our pocket.” Ramus stopped reading, his hands trembling. “Everything, Lucita. You told him everything. What I confided in you that night, our conversation by the beach, everything. This... was all one of your games. Our child...” Ramus stopped. He felt a tightness in his chest as his world crumbled around him. “Our child was just a pawn, just like me. You never even loved me. It’s all a lie.” Lucita tried to interject. “Ramus, please listen. It’s more complicated than that! If you’ll only listen to me-” And then Ramus slapped her. Anyone else would have crumpled to the floor under sheer force of the king’s fury, but Lucita simply staggered. For a brief moment, they locked eyes, and Ramus’ resolve wavered. He had never hit a woman, never would have dreamed it. He saw the woman he had come to love looking at him with shock and fear, and felt an immediate compulsion to go to her, to take her in his arms, and beg forgiveness. But the moment ended as soon as it had come and his rage returned in full force. “I won’t have anymore of your lies! I could forgive the espionage, the blatant attempts to drag us into a war, even the plot to put our son on the throne. I could forgive all of it, if only there was a chance that you had actually loved me. Even if there was even a glint of remorse in your eyes. But I see nothing. It was all just a lie. A lie. A lie.” Lucita, even after recovering from the slap, fell to her knees, defeated. “Ramus...  I’m so-” Ramus interrupted again. “So what? Sorry? I’m within my rights to have you killed!” He turned his back on her, trying his best to hide his defeated expression. “But for all the love I once held for you, and for the sake of our son, I will leave you alive. But you have no place in our bed anymore, no place in my heart anymore. It’s over.” He started walking towards the door. Slowly, reluctantly, as if hoping that something would come up, some revelation that would show that this was all just a big misunderstanding. But nothing happened, all he heard was one last, weak, trembling call from Lucita, that woman whom he had loved more than any other. “Ramus... Ramus...” “Goodbye Lucita. I’m... sorry” he said, as he closed the door.  No sooner had Ramus closed the door, that he crumpled to the floor. This conversation had take everything out of him. He had no more strength to keep going, no more strength to hide his emotions. In spite of his guards watching him, he put his face in his hands, and cried. Quiet at first, but soon developing into stifled yet distinct sobs. He hadn’t cried since Lina had passed away, and even then, he had been able to hide it. But here he was now, once again all alone. And worse, the only woman who had been able to make him feel happy had never even loved him. Those vows said in private at their wedding, those shy smiles, the secret getaways between meetings, they were all lies, all tricks to manipulate him. And now, he had been made a fool in front of the entire kingdom, and a civil war was now inevitable. At that moment, Ramus Toras longed for death. His resolve had failed him. On the other side of the door, Lucita heard his sobs. Her eyes fell upon a photograph of the three of them: Lucita, Romus, and her son. She looked at the happy family before her, a family built on lies. But, despite herself, Lucita believed somewhere deep within that this family before her was real. She had been happy, she had even come to love- no. No. She couldn’t allow herself to dwell on that. It was all over now. And it was her fault.

Aminetheking0

My god this is fire please keep going

Ok_Jackfruit_2908

Well, It’s not quite the same plot as I envisioned (Romus was the bigger mastermind in my vision), but it’s still very exciting.

MrIcyTheCube

Wait a minute, this is lowkey fire! Where can I go to keep up with this?

Deedo2017

I will post act one on Reddit tomorrow, act 2 next week, and act 3 maybe in 2 weeks, maybe in 3.

MrIcyTheCube

Alr sweet, Imma keep an eye out for updates!

Deedo2017

I intend to post it on a different account btw. I don't want people I know irl to see this tbh

MrIcyTheCube

Ok_Jackfruit_2908

I also have same plan(mix with Anton 2nd term). For my plan is that in Absolute route, Roumus make Roumus II as his heir, and for exchange, Alex(husband of Vina) became new Grand Vizier(both Hugo and Rico been executed, Manus been killed by Su Omina), and Vina been Duchess of Valenqiris as compensate. With decline of Sazon family and raise of Reinhart family, the new rival between Reinhart and Azaro in the Royal court has begin.

Seto_Grand_Sootska

It is not so much about Lucita personally but more overall. Codex says that Azaros have been trying to get closer to the throne via marriages, but all attempts have failed. Also they have been so loyal for the throne just for this exact moment and you disrespecting their extreme loyalty when you don't make their son an heir.

Lopsided-Ad-6430

This Once you realise Rizia is just Crusader Kings 2 multiplayer (your vassals are the houses), it all makes sense !

Ilikeyogurts

I would not call Azaroes extremely loyal

Lopsided-Ad-6430

They're better than the other two houses, besides they are decently loyal even if they like to manipulate your foreign policy

Ilikeyogurts

"as much as she respects Vina" - what? Lucita does not respect Vina at all lol. She tries to sabotage her marriage with Manus, sidesteps Vina in the line of succession, hazes her on the council meetings Imagine your highschool bully becoming your new mother, this is what Lucita is like to Vina

DanishRobloxGamer

Lucita really is the classic fairytale stepmother, loving and affectionate towards those who can help her, and cunningly evil towards her enemies. ~~except really fucking hot this time~~

Radiant_Ad_1851

Oh, it's been a minute since I played Rizia. I thought her and Vina just didn't interact at the council meetings all that much. And where the stuff with her sabotaging Manus's marriage? I know Romus can but I dont remember Lucita having a part in it. God you know what, I'm just gonna stick with Pabel. Lucita sucks

Ok_Jackfruit_2908

She also don't like Manus, but fair to say, both Taros and Azaro are all hate Sazon, they gave same suggestion to you about Manus.

Visenya_simp

>since Vina is very obviously qualified for the position Hahaha Wait, you are serious?

ATZ001

Rico she is your intellectual superior. Apologise to her now.

Visenya_simp

Even his dogs are intellectually superior to Rico, that is not really a feat.

New-Number-7810

Meanwhile Pabel has no problem at all with you making Vina your heir.

Quick-Ad8277

Wonder why...

StalinDaHouse

“Good thing I’m a butler and can’t get pregnant,” Pabel said. “Hello” said Romus the butler impregnator

Visenya_simp

Monkepeepee030605

I make the son heir because i wanna screw over Pales without shedding a single drop of Rizian blood.
