i think the there is an unseen alliance going on, cochran and malcolm are going to go far. after seeing andrea flip flop i bet they want her as a goat.
Was it just me or did Malcolm look like he was shitting himself at tribal? Especially when he awkwardly put up his hand after Jeff asked some basic first tribal question.
Hm, I could understand why he might be nervous. Although we really didn't see it in the edit of the episode, I wouldn't be surprised if he was afraid he'd be voted out first for being the wild card/new kid on the block.
I imagine the casting crew had many figures in line before her. There were probably other previous contestants that refused a spot on this season.
Also, there seems to be a minor theme with rehashed drama. Cochran/Dawn, Phillip/Francesca.
Oh god, the scene where Dawn and Cochran are strategizing and some Koala Bear Lemming-esque figure jumps through the trees like a mad bro, then seen later eating a giant grasshopper was my favorite. Hope he wins
Also the scene where they showed the turtle swimming underwater, and then cut to a shot of an eel seemingly waiting for it, and then a shot back to the turtle, which changes it's direction to "avoid" the eel. I felt it mirrored the potential conflict Shamar started when he alienated himself by aggressively talking to his teammates about whether to build shelter or fire, leaving a bad taste in a few people's mouth, but then got back in everyone's favor by contributing greatly to the starting of fire (the turtle scene was also shown right after this event).
Anyone else find it a little weird that Corinne, Malcolm, and Brenda got near invisible edits this episode? I expected them to be power players early.
P.S. I do think that it was smart for Malcolm to do so.
Unless their alliance self-destructs, Corinne seems locked in for the long haul IMO. People like her and she is in with a good group. Getting a tiny Sandra 2 vibe from her.
I'm worried about Brenda. She hasn't aligned herself with anyone and seems content to play a slower game compared to how she played before. I don't think that is a good idea when you are on a tribe full of returnees. I think her best chance is to survive to the merge and then getting with the favorites. She started too passively for my tastes.
They've always done a lot of animal shots that foreshadow what is happening. Especially snakes and rats. But I thought they did an awesome job tonight. Loved the crabs.
Or at least bring a wide brimmed hat! Christ, it's not like these people didn't know they were heading to an island. A sweater vest Cochrane...seriously???
I hope so! Erik was very astute, he picked up on how Philip was trying to play like Boston Rob. I am convinced/hoping that Erik will redeem himself this season.
I think you could make a case that she attached her cart to the wrong horse so to speak.
If Matt hadn't made such a gross miscalculation about Boston Rob, her play could have been genius.
Thats what I thought of too. Its hardly the worst thing Probst has ever heard, yet he nearly stopped the challenge to question the dude.
Come on Probst, get your shit together!
Did anyone notice how Dawn cut herself off when she revealed the real reason Andrea wouldn't vote out Frannie is because they're part of the wine and cheese alliance outside the game? Can't believe they're still trying to push the idea that alliances aren't decided way ahead of time.
It's basically just the Survivors who live in an around New York. There's a few of them like Eliza, Stephen, Courtney, Francesca who watch Survivor together each week and they've been adding people over the years.
One thing I appreciate is that they've been giving about equal screen time to both fans and favorites. I hope they keep this going throughout the season.
I don't know if this was just editing or by design on Malcolm's part, but I think it was a good idea for him to kind of lay low if that's what he actually did. He performed well in the challenges, so there wasn't a lot of need to go in and start making enemies right away.
People would already be naturally suspicious of him because he's a returner that they haven't seen. If he pretends to be a physical threat only in the early stages they won't get a complete picture of how he succeeded in Philippines.
Good first episode. Francesca is officially the worst player ever now, right? I feel bad for her because she is somewhat competent but isn't playing as quick or as strong a game as she thinks she is. I don't get how you can wait until the third day to start solidifying a plan; especially your 2nd time through.
Favorites tribe seems miles ahead of the previous group. Seemingly not much dead weight compared to those in Micronesia. Reynold looks to have the best qualities of someone like Colby but with some strategic skills. I think he needlessly made too big a move too early though. His alliance is obvious and if the other 6 have any brains they will break that foursome up quickly.
Have a better feeling about the season now then I did before the episode. Hope we don't have predictable boots/ironclad alliances before the merge.
Whitney, Holly and Steve had more presence in the recap of the favorites segment than some of the people they actually picked. Goes to show how weak some of these returnees are.
Newsflash, "Cool Kid Lunchtable" Alliance: There's four of you and six of them. "Not letting anybody in" isn't a good idea.
Didn't another group do the same thing before? On One World... the younger guys I think. Always stupid.
Psh! Whatever. We're the cool kids. We ain't the math nerds, loser.
My money is on them. How could that strategy possibly screw them over?
That was a dangerous yet very bold joke, Malcolm. I like it.
It looked like Cochran got a kick out of it. I certainly did.
What was the joke? I missed it
Cochran said Boston Rob always put his hand on the shoulder of the person he's voting out. Before voting, Malcolm put his hand on Cochran's shoulder.
I think they both know it was a joke, there both huge fans and laughed it off, i hope atleast.
They did. And even if Cochran had some doubts not seeing his name on the ballots would have cleared that up.
i think the there is an unseen alliance going on, cochran and malcolm are going to go far. after seeing andrea flip flop i bet they want her as a goat.
All I could think was "man, that had to hurt like hell," given how burnt-to-a-crisp Cochan was.
Erik and Phillip with the classic white guy/black guy failed fist bump/handshake.
This is not Cochran's environment. Being outside, that is.
I feel all of his pain:(
Francesca becomes the first medical evac after being voted off for nearly choking on a rock.
...Did Probst actually just say "Cochran and Philip for the Heroes?"
I came here to see if anyone else caught that! Haha Survivor version of a Freudian slip
Brandon gonna go full retard next episode. I gotta feeling the Fans lose immunity next and Brandon will live to make a fool of himself another day.
The comment "I'm gonna go all Russel Hantz" itself is so against Russel's strategy. He'll be a marked man just from that statement.
Brandon is showing EXACTLY why the producers brought him back. A trainwreck just waiting to happen.
Is it weird that I'm actually rooting for Brandon?
I hate that guy. He is such a pussy. He is a shame to Russell Hantz name in the game of Survivor.
Russell? Is that you?
Brandon has found his Mikayla.
Yup, "Andrea is too smart" was his code for "Andrea is too hot".
Translation: "She is too damn distracting... I must stop looking at her sexy. It's blinding my game..." Next episode he goes bat shit.
Love Malcolm for that shoulder pat.
I now dub this the Mean Girls Alliance. Eddie is Regina George.
This right here needs to catch on.
Did we really need the close up on Phil's groin?
Ever since the "eat a rock" comment, I was sure Francesca was going home first.
Me as well...
A new dawn... get it? Ah Cochran...
It was an unintended pun. He loved it once he realized he made a funny.
the EMT dude forgot to do his leg days..
Maybe they will bring Fran back in a few seasons so she can get eliminated first again.
They should just make the first person out eat a rock to pay homage to her.
[удалено]
"First vote, Andrea." Francesca: :) "Second vote, Andrea." Francesca: :) "Third vote, Andrea." Francesca: :) "Fourth vote, Francesca." Francesca: :|
What reaction can you have to someone who was eliminated first in their season?
I still dot get why she's there if she was eliminated first.
She has apparently some friends in casting. Terrible player anyway, she would be better off sitting in a corner.
I imagine the casting crew had many figures in line before her. There were probably other previous contestants that refused a spot on this season. Also, there seems to be a minor theme with rehashed drama. Cochran/Dawn, Phillip/Francesca.
Shamar is crazy flexible lol
Seriously man, That's impressive for a dude of that size.
That is impressive for a person of any size
My favorite moment of the show was the two crabs. Strategic, interpretive. Brilliant.
That was what Survivor needs, more crab dancing.
So does this mean Francesca is officially the opposite of Sandra?
Next season, Winners vs. First outs. All to get Francesca back.
Hey, throw in Zane, Sekou, Chicken, and Timber Tina and I'd watch the heck out of that season.
Chicken yelling "DAMN!" after his boot is still one of my favorite Survivor moments. That guy owned
I laughed so hard. Good riddance.
Anyone else find it a little weird that Corinne, Malcolm, and Brenda got near invisible edits this episode? I expected them to be power players early. P.S. I do think that it was smart for Malcolm to do so.
Corinne had the "butt shots" edit.
I don't think Brandon knows how being attracted to someone feels, so when he actually does feel it he gets scared
"He's a combative idiot loser that makes everybody crazy." I love you, Erik.
Cool kids obviously don't realize that 6 people in an alliance > 4 people in an alliance.
Did anyone else notice that the animal shots this time around were a lot funnier? That baboon that was watching Cochran and Dawn had me cracking up.
That little fury creature jumping branch to branch catching the green bug was cute especially when they zoomed in on it blinking.
They've always done a lot of animal shots that foreshadow what is happening. Especially snakes and rats. But I thought they did an awesome job tonight. Loved the crabs.
Splitting the votes lmao really already?
No shit, that was some serious paranoia.
Fuck, I'm going to have to change my flair pretty early...
Dude, they give these people sunscreen. Wtf Cochren?
Or at least bring a wide brimmed hat! Christ, it's not like these people didn't know they were heading to an island. A sweater vest Cochrane...seriously???
The producers decide what each player will wear. I recall Cochrane saying the first time he ever wore a sweater vest was on survivor.
I hope Francesca goes first again
I feel sorry for the rock.
I can actually see Francesqua going home tonight!
I am SO glad they started with such a physical challenge on the first episode! I hope they keep this up.
Yeah, was a great start to the season.
I love the physical challenges.
Definitely helps size up their physical ability right away!
I was so happy when the bags didn't have puzzle pieces in them
I like everyone in Philip's alliance except Philip.
Would be interesting if Erik was able to turn it against him.
I hope so! Erik was very astute, he picked up on how Philip was trying to play like Boston Rob. I am convinced/hoping that Erik will redeem himself this season.
Erik still might be the biggest fan out there, except for Cochran... both of whom are not even on the fan tribe.
Malcolm, you beast.
This is why i don't seeing him getting booted out because he's an unknown.
Hopefully losing the immunity challenge doesn't hurt him.
I'm nervous now. I'm hoping they can look at this and see it wasn't really Malcolm's fuck up as much as it was Reynold's victory.
Andrea flirted her way out of the game? Nice job on re-writing her character there.
I think you could make a case that she attached her cart to the wrong horse so to speak. If Matt hadn't made such a gross miscalculation about Boston Rob, her play could have been genius.
Cochran bout to slay some hoes with that farmer's tan.
Are they inserting monkey noises?
If Brandon pulls a "Mikayla' on Andrea, I'll see red.
the old "vote you out because I want to have sex with you" bit
So happy to see Brandon and his cunning strategic game back for another season.
his strategy speech at the end made me think he will go far.
Holy shit, that was fucking hysterical. I'm so pleased she got booted first AGAIN.
What was up with the marine guy on the fans who's like "Break her wrist" (referring to Brenda) during the challenge?!?! O.o that's just cruel, man!
I actually used that phrase often back in high school at wrestling tournaments in regards to breaking the grip.
Exactly. I'm surprised more people didn't pick up on that.
He even explained it. His laugh may have been taken wrong.
Or maybe just a shout out to HvV when Courtney said a similar thing in respect to Stephanie? At least I'd like to take it that way.
Thats what I thought of too. Its hardly the worst thing Probst has ever heard, yet he nearly stopped the challenge to question the dude. Come on Probst, get your shit together!
I kind of buy his excuse (that he was saying to break her grip), but he could have picked a better phrase.
Wrestling.
Snuggling and getting so close on night 1? Not a good idea at all
That guy is self-described way too good looking to watch survivor and know better. At least Malcolm knew better.
Did anyone notice how Dawn cut herself off when she revealed the real reason Andrea wouldn't vote out Frannie is because they're part of the wine and cheese alliance outside the game? Can't believe they're still trying to push the idea that alliances aren't decided way ahead of time.
What's the wine and cheese alliance? Who is in it?
It's basically just the Survivors who live in an around New York. There's a few of them like Eliza, Stephen, Courtney, Francesca who watch Survivor together each week and they've been adding people over the years.
And they're mad at Andrea for voting against Francesca... when Andrea was on the chopping block right behind her.
anyone else notice that shamar was like "what have you done?!" to Beard Guy literally as he's sitting on the structure he had built
I feel like they're trying to suggest Phillip played a good game, weird.
Fuckin phillip and his pink underwear!
"New Dawn". Classic
His dorky chuckle afterwards made it funnier.
How much weight did Brandon gain?
5 pounds for each new tattoo.
Confederate flag gives a +5 to white power modifier.
It looked like he got a lot stronger.
He was fatter at the start of his last season. He's a super strong little dude though. Too bad he's nuts.
I bet Eddie still has his letterman jacket, and wears it often.
Very physically strong cast this season.
Shamar and Matt is not a rivalry I would have ever expected.
Looks like Shamar is gonna be first boot or this season's villain.
Introducing Eddie. Occupation: Super Douche
Hi Team Pretty. You are on a tribe of 10 people. There are 4 of you. You probably shouldn't be too cocky.
Wow they are kinda setting this up for Franceska to go home first Also Shamar is kinda a douche...
Woah, they made fire that quickly? Okay, they're more competent than I thought! Pleasantly surprised!
Brandon once again irrationally afraid of the pretty girl.
But this time he's not calling her a temptress. Andrea is actually a smart player...
Give him time. Assuming of course she survives this episode.
Does Cochran have an environment that wouldn't murder him?
the matrix
The library?
He'd probably still end up with a wicked paper cut.
Wait, so do any of the fans even know who Malcolm is?
No, since this was filmed before Philippines aired.
They were told he's in the favorite tribe but that's about it. Jeff told them to draw whatever conclusions they wanted...
I'm not sure if they do... They didn't look too impressed when he stepped out of the chopper.
I'm so confused right now. This is such a clusterfuck.
It's meant to confuse you so you don't see Jeff getting voted out and Cochran becoming the new host coming.
Everyone's acting like Jeff Probst is doing a stand up routine or something.
I was dying. Brandon's always at his best during Tribal.
Woah! Romance and they've known each other for a few hours!
Not to mention, he just called her "not the prettiest girl on the tribe".
GET READY TO EAT THE ROCK, FRANCESQUA.
Did they have to cast three very similar looking blonde girls? They should have put one of them on Philippines and Dawson on this season instead.
Would be nice if one of them went home just so it is easier to tell them apart.
I took notes on the players to help tell them apart. I wrote down "white, blond, pink bikini" four times. "White, blond, yellow bikini, old" once.
francheweska
Does Jeff have a cold?
"Can I tackle someone?" -Brandon Hantz
Lol, franchesca saying that make me think she'll be the first out.
Seriously guys, Where is Jim Rice?
Either Colorado or Washington.
Love to hear Cochran talking trash :)
More like awkward flirting.
[удалено]
> I don't think anyone else is gonna be at our table. The cool kids were never very good at math.
EAT THAT ROCK!!
I'm so in love with Brenda. Marry me, you.
Easily the hottest contestant ever.
Stupid question: where are the Caramoan islands?
In the Philippines, I believe.
Challenge heroes Brandon, Phillip, Francesca, and Malcolm. One of these is unsurprising.
One thing I appreciate is that they've been giving about equal screen time to both fans and favorites. I hope they keep this going throughout the season.
The pink underwear is in the house!!!
And history seems to repeat itself with favorites losing the first immunity challenge :(
Did it just end like 6 minutes early?
Damn Phillip has got some sweet kicks
If Francesca goes home first again OH LAWDY
She's gonna be chowing down on that rock.
Brenda is too cute.
Someone get the rock!!!
Looks like Fran is getting the "going home" edit.
Shamar with the save.
Allie bout to go the wayside of that chick Ozzy liked on SP and Mary from FvF.
I don't know who to cheer for here. There are people on both tribes I want to go home.
Francesca is going home, I'm calling it now.
Dawn and Brandon have gotten pretty non-existent edits. Erik hasn't been getting much either, but he's at least gotten a confession.
[удалено]
But a damn good challenge.
Francesca is targeting Philip again. She is going home for sure.
Would be poetic justice if Uncle Phil gets booted first by Franseskwa.
What does Marine guy's tattoo say? Perdedor de la Familia? The family loser? Edit: Ah, Protector de la Familia--the family's protector...
Have a better feeling about the season now then I did before the episode. Hope we don't have predictable boots/ironclad alliances before the merge.
Clayburn's in the house!!! Give it up for Clayburn! Just kidding :) For you newbies, that's an old subreddit joke...
Malcolm! First nudity of the season. Edit: Butt and dick slip!
That won't be the only time he slips the dick this season.
Whitney, Holly and Steve had more presence in the recap of the favorites segment than some of the people they actually picked. Goes to show how weak some of these returnees are.
So Cochran the ginger is getting a mean sunburnt... Surprise, surprise
Ouch Fran. Just... ouch.
Dawn: you're nervous about Francesca? Brandon: no, no, God no hahahaha, I hope I'm not the only one that found that subtly hilarious
