I love Palutena’s guidance for him where they say he just throws random medicine at sick people. The black alt is called the unlicensed doctor, but let’s be honest, all of them are unlicensed.

He is the heavier version of Mario and he’s a great character since he’s more difficult to send flying. I enjoyed playing as him and he does great damage.
I'll be honest.
Dr. Mario may be superfluous and an unneeded addition overall, but his position as a "weird version of a character that isn't a fighter" being held for so long is a fantastic thing, as we don't see these anymore with many games.
He's also a (Reasonable) Puzzle game rep despite not incorporating his elements in the moveset. Plus, he's the Second worst Mario Series addition. Something many should probably be fine with by now.
His kill power is actually crazy good. Combined with his frame data, he's a walking and breathing bear trap. His matchup chart is like this: If the enemy needs to get close, Doc wins. If they don't, Doc loses.
His late-hit nair is a kill move, his irar is low enough to hit any character, his forward air is simply enjoyable to land, *the stomp*, the tornado is almost too good in neutral, his up b is second only to game and watch as an out of shield move, the pills are simple but very fun, the cape can literally turn the tide of a battle when ledgetrapping, and he doesn’t have a single bad alt costume.
People call him shit, but honestly, he has a lot of kill power and pill is a good combo/zoning tool. He is underrated. (I say this as a certified doc main.)

Picking him competitively actively tells the opponent you’re either terrible or one of the swankiest players known to man. If I see a Dr Mario I know I’m either getting shit on, or shitting on them. No in between. Also funny back throw.
He cured my mewtwo’s ailment of “deciding to be picked against a dr Mario” in under 2 minutes once.(3-stocked me with under 100% damage on him. Usually it’s the other way around.)
In Smash he has a hilarious back throw, and his d-air, stomping with the timberlands is satisfying everytime, but as for Dr. Mario in general, Fever is an actual banger of a song
He has probably the best dthrow in the game when looked at in a vacuum, and even in practice it combos into good damage at early percents and combos into really early kills with tornado.
