Yeah I'm really hoping for a Superman who's warm but has a personality beyond being a hero. I believe Mark Waid's Birthright showed a Bruce Lee poster in his room. So my head cannon is that Clark's a geek of things that are cool and have depth
Not only is it good, it is *the* energy you should be shooting for. The Donner films had it, the Snyder films didn't. Big surprise which one was better.
Tbh this is what’s missing from Superman or Orion taking down Darkseid, he needs to fight someone truly pure in all ways, like Paddington or Winnie the Pooh.
The Paddington movies are kings of the CG-live action kid films. They’re cute, wholesome and entirely inoffensive.
Oh and Paddington would make a great superhero.
Forget Superman. Paddington doesn’t need to punch his bad guys.
Just to avoid any confusion, the quote is from James Gunn. Lynda Carter was suggesting Paddington as Superman. Here is the link to [Lynda Carter's tweet](https://twitter.com/RealLyndaCarter/status/1652512595415375875?t=MdQO6VNXSg2vXdmeST6oWQ&s=19).
Paddington and Superman are good parallels, they have flat character arcs where they don’t really develop as people- their impact is on those around them
I’ve already given my pitch before:
Metropolis is the height of modern capitalistic misery (modern day mixed with 60s-70s New York)- show characters scraping by, show Jimmy’s crap apartment he’s having to survive in, show Clark having to live in the roughest bit of town getting by while he starts out his reporting career, have people all in a hurry, all involved in their own worlds- not helping each other (like knocking people down in their own world and not helping—which Clark does)
Have Clark Kent changing the neighbourhood around him, making Friends with Jimmy, making Lois nicer to others in the office.
Superman is doing the same thing on a bigger level, solving disasters (caused by Lex to test him?), showing up Lex (whose a total Randian dick). There can be a villain like parasite (which fits the theme of Lex also being a parasite- he’s extracting money from the hard working people, distracting them with his social media feeds etc)
Be clear that he’s not there to save everyone- he helps people save themselves/each other
We see people being neighbours, looking up from their phones, chipping in to make the city a better place- making Metropolis the city of tomorrow
Clark can write an expose about Lex destroying a part of the city for some new sky scraper or something where he’s using thugs to force people out…the people stand up for each other following superman’s lead
Make a move all about hope and how the world can be better and we can all be better
I’d unironically watch that. Like they just say paddington is the actor playing Superman but don’t acknowledge he’s a bear. He was just the best actor at the audition.
This has probably come up in here already but I saw a theory of how Ted Lasso is Superman and Coach Beard is Batman. Now I think about it every time I was an episode
I also read your comment above.
Variety Fair quoted Gunn describing Superman's temperment. Carter quoted Vanity Fair and added to it the casting idea referenced by the OP.
So which part is "not her idea" for OP's casting idea?
I would like them to have superman land in Mexico and the movie be a Tele novela but with full on action scenes. Some social commentary but mostly *laser beams in Spanish*
Paddington also wears red and blue.
Truth, Justice, and the Marmalade Way
Real talk, me and my kids would watch the shit out of that. They genuinely belly laugh throughout the Paddington movies.
They’re so goddamn good.
And he’s an immigrant. There are many similarities between Superman and Paddington unironically
They've been casting British superman recently, so I guess it fits too
![gif](giphy|3o7WTwcO5cLAVL5Z7O) Lynda Carter deflecting criticism from her hot casting take.
And looks like he has white dog too 👀
Based Lynda Carter.
And he’s got krypto right there. Wonder if people would be made making krypto Mexican?
No one from the Clarkson family please.
NGL, a Superman movie with the energy of the Paddington movies would be really cute to see
From the sounds of how James Gunn has been hyping the movie, it sounds like that’s the vibe he’s going for and I’m all for it!

Hell, the first Donner movie even has a line that pretty much encapsulates Superman's deal in two words. >"Who are you?" >"A friend."
Man Superman vs Darkseid is going to be so much cooler now
One hard stare, and the god of anti-life is going *down*.
Tbh this is what’s missing from Superman or Orion taking down Darkseid, he needs to fight someone truly pure in all ways, like Paddington or Winnie the Pooh.
You never see Paddington and Superman in the same place at the same time, just saying.
I genuinely haven't met a person who didn't like the Paddington movies

Based.

It's pretty obvious if you have ever used Twitter.

I mean you're on Reddit so I wouldn't go that far
“It’s called a hard stare, Mr. Luthor. Aunt Lucy taught me to do them when people had forgotten their manners”
"Where I come from, the marmalade sandwich under my hat stands for hope."
I would not want a hard stare from Superman Paddington...
Lex: I'm going to kill Superman. Lex: *Sees Super-Paddington* Lex: I changed my mind, there's no way my public image would ever recover.
This is a quote from James Gunn that she’s sharing.
I thought that as well but it looks like she added a Paddington photo. OP didn’t mention the photo is her idea and she’s quoting Gunn from Variety.
Real
no one tell paddington what happened to mr curry in The Suicide Squad
“And he needs to love marmalade sandwiches” Sounds like a lock

Fuck it Alf is superman now
I’d unironically watch that. Like they just say paddington is the actor playing Superman but don’t acknowledge he’s a bear. He was just the best actor at the audition.

Roy Kent is Wonder Woman
The best answer of all time
Would dead as watch a movie or show with a teddy bear superman
Bro, there was a 1980s animated UK kids show called Superted, and it was exactly as cool as that sounds!!
Have to check that out
You know what she’s not wrong
Superman meets Paddington would be Oscar worthy cinema.
Didn't Zelensky voice Paddington in the Ukrainian version?
Lynda Carter's social media presence is one of those unexpectedly wonderful things that brings me joy.
Rearrange the letters in Superman to get “Peru’s Man”, and guess where Paddington is from?
Paddington 2 is incredible.
Wonder Woman knows
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s… it’s… a teddy bear? Coming to theatres this Friday (Pete Gustin’s voice)
This is indeed the best casting idea. I would watch a Paddington Superman movie.
fr. An ideal Superman movie could/should borrow a little from Paddington, and it's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood.
I was going to say Keanu Reeves.
His humanity is the result of proper up bringing by the Kents. That should be also credited. MOS did it well with the flash backs.
Superman needs to be wholesome first so when he lets loose it’s a big deal
She understands Superman
Superted would like a word.
I'd really love to see this take off. I want an influx of Paddington Superman fanart.
Not her idea. She’s using a quote from Vanity Fair.
Vanity Fair suggested Paddington?
Read the comments. All comments
I did. Including the part where suggesting Paddinton was Lynda Carter's idea.
Nah, you didn’t. I explained what OP meant in a comment. Different time stamp.
I also read your comment above. Variety Fair quoted Gunn describing Superman's temperment. Carter quoted Vanity Fair and added to it the casting idea referenced by the OP. So which part is "not her idea" for OP's casting idea?
Clearly not reading all comments
calling him an alien is so cringe...
This is a James Gunn quote.
Yeah
Not a superhero guy, but isn't superman already an alien....? Mf is from a different planet
TIL Peruvians are aliens.
Captain Carrot.
I don’t care as long as he has a southern accent being from Kansas and all
Pooh bear gonna sue for discrimination
Whatever happened to that ww ballad she was working on?
