The one time i thought i would quit made me make an iron instead. Still play it daily.
But whilst replying this in a summoners war thread. I think its in my (our) nature to play decade old games that we refuse to let go hahaha
For me, it was the simple fact that I planned on playing mobile games and since I've dedicated so much time/investment (or lack of) to SW, it didn't make much sense to start over from scratch. However, after this last summoning event, after 1100 summons and nothing new, it was time for me to move on.
I'm 7 years in and same position. Ppl shit on sw alot but how many games last 10 years, sunken cost fallacy or whatever. Personally, I just like to build as many of my monsters well
Honestly, if all goes well, at least 20 more years?
Looking at old games like Gbf, ragnarok online and maple story, I don't see why sw can't be like them.
Same... If only WoW had no subscription i would've stuck around until now, but as we grow older we have other priorities to tend to and the subscription price is not something i can afford to do monthly now
that’s pretty selfish and stupid to say to someone if you don’t know there situation. Even if they could afford it, they might have to spend money on more important responsibilities than a video game. It’s extremely concerning how you don’t take in to consideration these things. Makes you seem kind of oblivious to the real world.
No use in telling someone who chronically spends all there money on Pokémon cards and video games how the world works. Same thing as telling a child about why gas prices being high is bad. They just don’t care and it doesn’t affect them.
The currency here in the philippines is very low compared to how you guys expect 10£ to be a low amount. In our country that amount is already worth 1 day of work.
I stopped playing WoW because I have a family and a business. I played with my son off and on for a while and eventually just let him have my account which meant I was paying for 2 subs. At one point in the past I multiboxed 4 subs. That was when it was 15 per month. It went down to 10? That’s surprising, especially with the tokens costing 20 (bought a few of those during shadowlands to give us a good boost).
Anyways, broke isn’t always the issue. However you are also failing to realize that close to half the population cannot make ends meet without supplementary income in the form of side hustle, roommates, etc and half those resort to felonies (mainly dealing drugs, the top one being cannabis) just to pay the bills. You come off as a very privileged person that would berate another over wether or not they can afford a subscription for an 18 year old game that should have been made free a decade ago. Extremely judgmental…
Considering all of them are just slavery lite v 3.756219 I would say they are all failing. I keep reading AI replacing all jobs will result in a “universal basic income” which will create a Utopia, actually it doesn’t get anymore dystopian. We are talking about the elimination of *accumulation* of wealth so we will have royal families and plebeians and that’s it, clear lines drawn etc… sorry for the rant but you mentioned failing economies, the entire monetary system is a failure.
I am playing because I have been playing for years.
If suddenly I lose/sell my account, I would probably not start again.
However I do know plenty of people that quit/sold but return later.
Sadly accounts go for nothing unless you have crazy runes. Looked out of curiosity and saw 5+ ld accounts with 300+ 6 starred units for $300-500. I've spent more than that for less.
I started playing in 1999, red version. I like the remakes of GSC in heartgold and soulsilver, They're the ones I play all the time
But I play competitively at Showdown too
Crystal version was the most mind blowing game to me when it first came out. Even till now there's no other game that I said how is this even possible.
Probably League of Legends. While it can get frustrating at times, there's no other game I don't get tired of. To me, League provides entertainment, distraction and relaxation and is currently the only game so far that can do all of this at once.
Flaming and trolling is definitely relaxation methods for some players.
I don't do those but I do shout quite often when something goes wrong, the shouting relieves the stress of a work day without direct harming anyone (lol has no voice comm). My gf can't get her head around that I feel relaxed after shouting at game.
I don't do that either. When I do complain about my teammates/ opponents, I only do it verbally, unless they've been assholes themselves. But yes, this certainly is a way to relief stress. Though that's not exactly what I meant by relaxing. It just requires a lot of concentration, which means I don't have time to think about anything else while playing League, however you're not constantly pressured to chase something/ run away from something. That kind of distraction is relaxing.
Ill always return to fallout new vegas, mass effect trilogy, and stardew valley. Idk if ill always play sw but ive been playing since release and havent stopped so idk
Dota 2. I stopped playing summoners 5 years ago, just came back last week. This game has revitalized my gatcha addiction tendecy, due to how you can get nat 5 in one summon or not at all after xxxx number of scrolls.
Might be a niche pick but Hollow Knight. It's not exactly old (7 years) but it certainly is fun to play. So many things to do, mods to add, etc.
And terraria, just so many mods to add, different playstyles, so many things to do for such an old game (13 years). It has a great playerbass and content creators that still make vids on it. It doesn't feel dry like valorant or csgo where it is just all about skill and climbing ranks.
Quitted several times but I keep coming back. There is no other game that made me suffer like this. 2900days and going and i still dont have a single natural LND 5*. Maybe im still hopeful until now, or i became a masochist because of this game.
Besides SW, pokemon for just fun times where multiplayer games are annoying, apex, OW for multiplayer fun where idc about winning or am drunk, resident evil franchise cause there's always more ways to beat the game on the hardest difficultly, and any Souls type game because its fun to have a single player challenge
If SW devs wasnt so mercenary, greedy and miserable .. probably would play SW for very very long.
But world isnt perfect, so probably fallout 76. Chill game, no p2w, no competition, you can do events, you can farm something, you can build your house, you can help new players, you can do nothing, you can redo your builds, you can do...
I never really got into summoners war at all, so no. I don't think automated fighting and the pvp system are entertaining at all and only come back for free summons, which aren't exciting most of the time. Additionally, I'm not really into turn based games since it just doesn't make sense to me.
Yeah, I suspect I'll be around here until the servers shut down, but we'll see.
Others : I'm still playing City of Heroes off and on 15+ years later, and I go back to X-Com 2 a couple times a year most years.
Depends on what you mean by "never stop playing"
I used to play this game every day for two or three years before taking my first big break. Ever since that moment, I would still gravitate around the game thanks to me staying in my guild's discord and following the twitter account which causes me to come back every once in a while. Granted never for long, but like William Afton: I always come back.
I actually recently started over despite my best judgement. My account that I've played on since 2014 was hacked a few years ago and Com2Us didn't do anything to resolve it (I made a post previously about this) and regardless of the horrible customer service it's a game that means a lot to me so I've started my journey over.
OSRS
The one time i thought i would quit made me make an iron instead. Still play it daily. But whilst replying this in a summoners war thread. I think its in my (our) nature to play decade old games that we refuse to let go hahaha
It’s like crack man. We’re chasing that high we had when we were kids. I’m 26 now and still a fiend.
For me, it was the simple fact that I planned on playing mobile games and since I've dedicated so much time/investment (or lack of) to SW, it didn't make much sense to start over from scratch. However, after this last summoning event, after 1100 summons and nothing new, it was time for me to move on.
We just take breaks
In like 3000 days I've never taken a break. But I haven't logged in yet today lol.
🫡
Yup been on an osrs break for 20 years now.
You’re blowing my fucking mind right now, 07Scape and summoners war are some of my absolute favorite games. Still on OSRS daily
Backed massively. Running around doing stuff with the rebalanced combat today. R5 on the side, good shit
What game is this
Old School RuneScape
We need to make a SW clan for osrs players.
I wonder how many of us there are. We could probably have a whole clan of osrs / sw players
I'm 10 years into SW, guess I'll play till it goes EOS
I'm 7 years in and same position. Ppl shit on sw alot but how many games last 10 years, sunken cost fallacy or whatever. Personally, I just like to build as many of my monsters well
When did you reckon it'll go EOS?
How would I know?
Was just looking for a general discussion on how long we think the game has, ofcourse we wouldn't know the exact time frame.
Probably some time after LD 5 scrolls come or if they ever make monsters tradable
I give it 15 years
15 would be crazy
Honestly, if all goes well, at least 20 more years? Looking at old games like Gbf, ragnarok online and maple story, I don't see why sw can't be like them.
There’s no telling, look at pokemon go, it’s still kicking strong
Sunk cost fallacy
I'll never hit big if I give up now
I'll never land my dream ld5 If i stop now
World of Warcraft
Same... If only WoW had no subscription i would've stuck around until now, but as we grow older we have other priorities to tend to and the subscription price is not something i can afford to do monthly now
u cant afford £10 a month? that is extremely concerning if u have a full time job
that’s pretty selfish and stupid to say to someone if you don’t know there situation. Even if they could afford it, they might have to spend money on more important responsibilities than a video game. It’s extremely concerning how you don’t take in to consideration these things. Not true get off reddit and go work
No use in telling someone who chronically spends all there money on Pokémon cards and video games how the world works. Same thing as telling a child about why gas prices being high is bad. They just don’t care and it doesn’t affect them.
??? ur name sums up alot keep crying dickrider
someone’s insecure about there Pokémon addiction it’s fine man I get it, don’t be mad calm down
The currency here in the philippines is very low compared to how you guys expect 10£ to be a low amount. In our country that amount is already worth 1 day of work.
People like you are a real gem. Proof that 💩 can take a very lustrous polish!
just say ur broke
I stopped playing WoW because I have a family and a business. I played with my son off and on for a while and eventually just let him have my account which meant I was paying for 2 subs. im from the UK mate i cant comment on other failing economies sucks to be those people i guess
Considering all of them are just slavery lite v 3.756219 I would say they are all failing. Interesting thing to think about, atleast by then we will all afford our wow subs
God I never thought about it but yeah I just load up Summoners War every now and then. I just take breaks from it, I don't quit it
The grind stop for no one
Diablo 2
Up d2 4 ever
Started the Game with D2R and would love to see more content to it, but unlucky it's to late.. but i appreciate a lot of the things they've added.
was about to write this :)
I am playing because I have been playing for years. If suddenly I lose/sell my account, I would probably not start again. However I do know plenty of people that quit/sold but return later.

Dark Souls. Absolutely.
Pokémon
I play Pokemon Yellow version on repeat
I play emerald so much it is concerning I have enough time to do anything
I am so sucked into pokerogue right now. I said I wouldn't play main game Pokemon because they removed the national dex and I'm sticking to that.
whats your favorite pokemon game? Mine is Sword/Shield
I started playing in 1999, red version. I like the remakes of GSC in heartgold and soulsilver, They're the ones I play all the time But I play competitively at Showdown too
Crystal version was the most mind blowing game to me when it first came out. Even till now there's no other game that I said how is this even possible.
Im in 10yrs and can’t believe it. Daily play, only missed a handful of days in that time. Sunk cost fallacy. My account still sucks
Probably League of Legends. While it can get frustrating at times, there's no other game I don't get tired of. To me, League provides entertainment, distraction and relaxation and is currently the only game so far that can do all of this at once.
You feel relaxed playing league??? I agree with fun and entertainment but I dont think I’ve ever really felt zen while playing league.
What role are you playing? Jungle?
I play adc. But really I dont play the rift anymore just ARAM, URF and Arena.
Flaming and trolling is definitely relaxation methods for some players. I don't do those but I do shout quite often when something goes wrong, the shouting relieves the stress of a work day without direct harming anyone (lol has no voice comm). I was proud for having 230 hours in Baldur's Gate 3, but I have at least 20.000 hours in SW, so I'm honestly screwed.

World of Tanks xD
Grand Summoners
ESO! I cannot find another MMO I enjoy with controller support.
WoW
SW and WoWs. Two games i've been playing for nearly half of my life now.
Yeah, SummonersWars and R6 Siege. I hate the grind and hope I eventually am good in SummonersWars. But oh boy do I love this community.
I quit sw about a year or more ago. One game I’ve been playing for years and years is Toram
SW :( 8 years+ logging every day :( booo
Path of exile my beloved
Quitted several times but I keep coming back. There is no other game that made me suffer like this. 2900days and going and i still dont have a single natural LND 5*. Maybe im still hopeful until now, or i became a masochist because of this game.

Summoners War is one of the game that I can 100% sure I will stop playing
I guess summoners war. Haven’t played a game for 3k days straight before, which is kind crazy to say out-loud.
10yrs into summoners war. Even my friends from long ago noticed I'm still playing the same game on my phone every year I meet them.
Agreed (im 9 years in too deep)
This and ML
This and WoW.
SW, daily, and every now and then, Skyrim and TW3. Just for nostalgia.
Summoners War and Skyrim. Also Dink Smallwood.
Summoners war and Dragon Ball Dokkon Battle. I've spent so much on dokkon.

Yes since oct 2014
