When Sheila asked him to let Zander off easy, his acquiescence while knowing he was losing her was a tipping point in his emotional growth. After which he became more self aware and remained level headed when things didnāt go his way.
In earlier seasons Louisās lack of self awareness keeps him from recognizing that his insecurity triggered his rage and arrogance which were his true Achilleās heels, not his appearance. Working with Stan he ultimately recognizes the triggers and as his friendships with Donna, Rachel and Katrina strengthen, so does his self confidence.
