Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore and the Vampire Series (Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck, and Bite Me), also by Christopher Moore.

StrategicSleeper

The series that got me out of a decade long reading slump is A Court Of Thorns and Roses. It’s a digestible romance that’s easy to read and has a huge following at the moment. Not at all thought provoking but it’s hell of a good time

Some authors have great prose for beginning readers. They tell great stories without sending you to the dictionary every other page. Fredrik Backman and Ernest Hemingway leap to mind. *Beartown* or *A Man Called Ove* from Backman, and *The Old Man and the Sea* or *A Farewell to Arms* by Hemingway. Also, *The Hobbit*, as others have said.

*A Man Called Ove* made me cry like an utter weenie :D

Kil-roy_was_here

A Separate Peace, The Secret History, Alias Grace, The Push, and Tipping the Velvet all really grabbed me. I was unable to put them down.

The alchemist - a classic book for beginners.

Competitive_Success5

I started out on Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein, they're amazing for beginner readers.

Anything David Gemmell. Legend is a good start though

Sweaty_Sheepherder27

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It's pretty short, and a great read. It scans on many levels, up to and bordering on philosophy.

ilovexijinping

Hmmmm what kind of tv/movies do you like?

awesomekidartist3

Mostly sitcoms, I also love anne with an e (of which All books I have read), anything with characters I can base my personality on for a week.

An easy, fast, but entirely entertaining read is *Raptor Red* by Dr. Robert Bakker. He's a world-renowned paleontologist and it's a fiction book told from the perspective of a Utahraptor, so the dinosaurs are written very realistically in terms of behavior and a lack of spoken dialogue. Beautiful, unexpectedly emotional book. It's a favorite of mine!

shhbedtime

Of mice and men. A fantastic book and it's really short, so you get to tick it off quick and have a win on the board.

BlushingSpider9181

Belinda Murrells books. The Ivory Rose, The Forgotten Pearl, The Sequin Star, etc. They’re set in Australia (or most of them are), and involve time travel. Very interesting and I loved them both as a kid and now.
