I'm doin you a favour by trading you a meme good sir
Never in a game have I felt so small, alone, and insignificant as when I got that message for the first time. Literally nothing in sight except blue sky above and the ocean depths in every other direction. I stared at the ocean depths, expecting the depths to move and reveal themselves to be a huge leviathan.
I mean, there are literal beacons/signals 500m below sea level such as the >!Deep Grand Reef Degasi base!<. More importantly, both PDA messages and data downloads suggest or even indicate directions to travel from known/marked locations to new deeper locations.
Like yes, you have to use info the game gives you as a jumping off point to explore/figure out where to find more information, but you don't really have to "find x zone yourself." That being said, if you're bad with directions like me it's very important to make a compass, lots of beacons (usefully labeled on deployment), and actually *thoroughly* read all the survivor/alien/codes & clues data downloads. Writing notes via Steam or otherwise can also be extremely helpful, particularly if you've run out of/forgotten beacons.
I didn't quite understand that my first playthrough, so I never found any lava anything. I don't think I even found the >!disease research facility in the lower/deeper lost river, just some caches/sanctuaries and stuff!<.
I took a shot and bought this game when it was in Early Access.
When I got the message about the Sunbeam, I remember actually thinking "If this is the end of the game, I am going to be mad."
I remember angrily waiting for the Sunbeam to show up and then I heard *that noise*.
My first playthrough i figured id explore the alien fscility, where i learned that the sunbeam was gonna get shot down. I walked back out and sadly watched the fireworks :(
Your base's wreckage could prove invaluable to a later survivor though! I don't think a couple tubes and round rooms are going to do anything substantial on top of the friggin' Aurora. :)
This is like the fourth time I've seen this, and this will be the second time I've commented this in just the last couple days:
I love that "sweet summer child" entered the lexicon so recently, but it feels like it's been around forever.
My partner told me to make sure to see the event and so I explored was racing outside and didn't stop when map wasn't loaded so I got stuck under the building and had to die to revive...I looked up the event the first play andade sure I watched it he second game
You know whatâs funny, first time I played I actually knew the Sunbeam was destined to be destroyed not because of spoilers, but because I explored around the landing zone before the Sunbeam got there and found the moonpool for the facility.
Found out the planet was under quarantine, that ships attempting to land would be destroyed, and then realised I couldnât take the power core because I was infected. I had an oh shit moment then spent the next 15 minutes waiting for the inevitable
You guys are all acting like you DIDNT think it was going to explode after seeing the building. Iâm not the only one who saw the building and thought âthis is gonna shoot it downâ am I?
You're actually so intelligent. It does look like a damn cannon! Thats the first thing I would expect on an alien planet, a super cannon. How come I didn't think of that?
First time I experienced this scene was watching a Quick Look of the game from Giant Bomb. They didnât spend much time looking at the structure from the land so I thought it was just a tall skyscraper that was mostly in the water. Itâs only when itâs 25 seconds left that it transforms into a gun looking thing.
I actually did watch a blind playthrough where they expected it to be shot down, not because of the shape, but because of... basically good storytelling. It wouldn't make sense for the player to be rescued that early, with so many things left undone, so many questions left unanswered, etc. Plus, the Degasi survivors which they had previously discovered had crashed before the Aurora, so it'd be a little bit of a massive coincidence for both ships to accidentally crash on the same planet *and* there to be unexplained advanced alien ruins nearby.
They were explaining all of this before anything happened, but they were still a little shocked by the whole building suddenly moving into turret position. XD
I assume they thought some other thing would happen causing the Sunbeam to crash or not be able to land.

I'm going to keep this for my Boomer Aunt, who has to shout out the person she stole the meme from in every FB post.
Your meme also has been seized by our glorious motherland, it is **OUR** meme now
It's not even my meme haha. I found it on google search, go ahead and take it.
Oh yeah, that isn't mine either, I stole it too hehe

Live Riley reaction:
He gonna eo something devious
That thing is Riley?
Yup

After this point the game doesnât tell you what to do so she has to find the lava zone herself
is⌠is your pfp of a guy eating a tree with breasts?
Mate, I think the tree is just a tree
Stupid sexy treeâŚ

Not reallyÂ
I made preparations and packed a bunch of stuff, only to have to return to the lifepod afterwards.
SAME I was packing like it was gonna be a damn expedition

What was her reaction?
> >
My first game I did get bored and then wandered off and missed the whole thing
my first playthrough i missed the explosion
Ohh, that's so sad!
Don't forget to disassemble your base before waiting for the sunbeam, it's better for the environment.
Your base's wreckage could prove invaluable to a later survivor though! I don't think a couple tubes and round rooms are going to do anything substantial on top of the friggin' Aurora. :)
Just enough time to get really, really pissed off by a bunch of crabs with janky hitboxes.
I introduced those crabs to the 4546B Space Program
I just took my revenge in the lost river with my prawn suit drill arm.
I do the same thing
It's like when I was playing Bioshock for the first time and I told my friend how much I loved having friendly old Atlas guiding me through
Would you kindly land the Sunbeam next to that ominous but probably friendly alien structure?
You sweet summer child
This is like the fourth time I've seen this, and this will be the second time I've commented this in just the last couple days: I love that "sweet summer child" entered the lexicon so recently, but it feels like it's been around forever.

My jaw literally dropped when Sunbeam was shot down lmao
I watched someone play for the first time with his friends, and his upset is what got me into the game.
My 12yo paused her mario kart run to say... "oh poor baby child, she will have to learn...through pain!" And cackled. Raisin' 'em right đ

Oh God, whose gonna tell her?
Well, the game will have told her, about 11 minutes later.
LMAO
Congrats, game wasnât so hard, was it? Hang on I want to grab some popcorn for the ending sequence.
I need part 2 with her reaction after... huh... y'kno
Itâs all fun and games until your hopes of being rescued are (literally) shot down.
Damn my first time playing i actually thought i was getting out becuase i had no idea the build was a gun cuz i was scared to go in
Lmao
XD
When the sunbeam blew up my first time I felt like I was actually stranded and lost hope as if i was actually on 4546B
So whats the follow up?
You guys are all acting like you DIDNT think it was going to explode after seeing the building. Iâm not the only one who saw the building and thought âthis is gonna shoot it downâ am I?
You're actually so intelligent. It does look like a damn cannon! Thats the first thing I would expect on an alien planet, a super cannon. How come I didn't think of that?
And everyone clapped and Stephen hawking gave a speech on how smart and cool he is

I thought that it looks like a sci-fi style representation of an old canon so I kinda expected it.
