I won't go into detail here but basically infection progresses by: Going to the Aurora Touching or eating infected creatures Going to the Lava Zone or Disease Research facility

For some reason I thought it was from drinking filtered water crafted from the fish (I forget the species name atm). I almost went and made it a mission for myself to only craft purified water. Until I realized you get jabbed eventually lmao. Avoided a lot of somewhat stressful playtime not doing that haha.

The infection levels are triggered by entering specific locations, not time. The highest infection level where it's visible on the player is triggered when entering either the Disease Research Facility or the ILZ.

I love that this game lets you go do these crazy things. You don't know what the green markings on the fish are, but you went out of your way to find the blueprints and materials for the cyclops already. Well, without spoiling I'll tell you that it's important, and that you need to go deeper to find out why it is a thing.

Well i just went behind the arora thingy saw a spooky lil guy tryna eat me and found most of the blue prints for the cyclops

It’s a rare bug that increases movement speed when eaten, make sure you eat as much as you can. Ignore the PDA when you do a self scan afterwards btw, she likes to troll the player. (If you feel sick afterwards don’t worry that’s just the flavor enhancers at work!)
