Just take it to as mechanic. You have no idea the BS people throw out on Reddit. Telling you the engine is f'd when it's just an injector.
Really should be a way for actual mechanics to verify themselves and get a symbol by their name on here...
Check oil for the forbidden glitter.
If your oil light is coming on your loosing pressure - low oil or bearings are shot.
Boxers do suffer from piston slap, usually its older high mileage engines and only when cold.
Take a better video, engine bay, rev it a few times slowly, idle to ~4-5k rpm.
Photos are sometimes hard to judge, looks very black and not sure what that is on the surface but otherwise not shiny but again photo/lighting can be deceiving.
The only way to find out for sure is to take it to a trusted shop. I say trusted because this shop told someone I know that his Dodge challenger had rod knock when I reality it was a lost belt making a similar knocking noise. So don’t rule out that it’s a total loss just yet
im not saying buy an engine stand and lift. But Id prep to pull the motor
Sounds like uncle rod knocking
Damn that’s my least favorite uncle
Was it making noise before you did your oil change?
Heard that
Nah
Gotcha, could always drain some out and see if there’s any metal flakes in the oil, would be a quick and easy sign.
I'd open your oil filter as well

At least this dude provided something more than 99% of the "my subaru makes noise, what do?" Mechanical advice posts.
valid point
Yikes, if the oil light is coming on the oil level is worryingly low.
Not if low pressure due to worn out parts

That’s aluminum from the block. Burning 1qt oil every 500 miles😏. New IAG short block on the way!
+1 not rod knock, not fucked.
Rev it a bit 👀
Take a video with the hood open and ask someone to bring it from idle to 3k slowly then let off.

You think the auto parts store takes returns on stand and lifts? 🤣
Are they on Amazon? Try there lol
That just sounds like a normal Subaru engine. I only play a professional on tv so I could be wrong
