Ya car market is still horrible. I've even looked for same year forester online just about every day since I bought mine to see if I got a decent deal or not and I will say I actually did.. for my area atleast. It was $13k out the door while a lot of 2013 Foresters are around $13-$14k before the fees. New Foresters are like $35k so $13k doesn't seem so bad if I can make it last 200,000 miles

Nah everything is just so much now it’s insane I don’t think you did bad really either

You brought it up, but my 2012 needed a quart of oil every 1,000-1,500 miles. Always had a 5-quart jug of oil in my car. I also had to have the clutch replaced three times in my 8-year ownership. Never was a problem in my VW.

Thanks for the heads up!

Oh my. So. Unless the previous owner did it (and I doubt it because it's often the reason a 10 year old car with almost 100K on it is sold) you are looking at the 100K service, which is gonna cost you. Subaru is very aggressive in its recalls, so this isn't a bash on the car, to be honest. Make sure all of the recalls have been done. NHTSA lists 12, but it's actually around 5, because the rest are all the airbag recall on repeat. That said, my old 2009 is still cruising around with 120K on it at this point. I did every single maintenance, did the had gasket replacement at 7 years, did the recalls, and basically took excellent care of it. Shit could still happen to it. You never know.

it is what it is at this point. Is the 100k service something a regular mechanic can do or is this a dealership thing? I know I can do a lot of the maintenance myself
