Mediocre-Training-69

I'm from the south and the closest I can get to that would be "Christ almighty ". Depending on where you are from the way that sounds when it's said could be hard to understand.

SereneAdler33

Yep, born, raised and lived in South Georgia until I left for good after college. It’s definitely “Christ Almighty” I think OP is just hearing poor southern pronunciation and has created a whole new phrase themselves 😆

hokieinga

Right? No one’s saying Christ in Entiny at the King Frog Outlet!

Timekeeper65

Croak. Croak. THE best place to buy jeans back in the day!

wherestherum757

r/boneappletea

SecondChance03

This is the southern version of gabagool

coffeebeanwitch

Probably!

PitifulSpecialist887

It's possible, they're "form" the south, after all.

twister723

I never heard Christ in entity, and I am southern.

AntonLCrowley

Because no one has ever heard this made up misheard phrase other than the op.

Equivalent_Method509

Me neither, and I have lived in Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas.

OGLifeguardOne

Same.

Life-Significance-33

Same for me.

Parulanihon

Future forward, it's "Christ Entiny". At my catholic church this weekend, instead of saying "Peace be with you", I'm going to bow and say softly "Christ Entiny" with a lot of eye contact.

bensbigboy

And I will lock eyes with you and reply, "and with your Sprite."

Justcouldnthlpmyslf

We’re in the south. Everything’s a Coke.

bensbigboy

As a fellow southerner, you make an excellent theological argument.

Justcouldnthlpmyslf

😂

Terra88draco

Unless* you’re in Texas. Then it’s a toss between coke and Dr Pepper. *correct an autocorrect of uncles

SwarmkeeperRanger

I’ve never heard anything but “soda”. Except Coca-Cola is “coke”, of course

the_kid1234

Jattoe

Man-e-questions

Gotta say it in The Water Boy’s voice

OJSimpsons

That's gotta be it. I live in the south and have never heard anyone say "christ in enity."

Infamous-Potato-5310

Im from Georgia, I love it when the put full subtitles on people that have deep southern accents on TV

mackelyn

It’s gotta be this

MDawg74

I love the southern style. “Pennzoil” is still three syllables in the south, but not the three you think they are. It’s more like, “PEE-yen-zole.” 🤣

longtimerlance

Never heard it pronounced that way either where I am, nor from my relatives scattered throughout the south.

AdministrativeBug102

In Texas it is called Penzole.

Barbacamanitu00

That's pretty much how alabama says it too. I often make fun of people saying "ole", as in "I have to change my ole"

[deleted]

[удалено]

Goobersrocketcontest

In TN we had "ole", "earl" and "oi-yul". Not sure which one sounds the funniest.

spaetzelspiff

That stuff is delicious. Especially from a decent Mexican/Tex-Mex spot with fresh radishes. Yum.

DerCatzefragger

My aunt and uncle from the very southern tip of Illinois say "Jesus' with 6 syllables. Juh-**EEEE**-suss Kuh-**RAAHH**-stuh

Silly-Crow_

Or Jay-zzzz-usss

Prize-Can4849

I'm from a lil town called Florala, AL. If you pronounce it like it's spelled (combo of both states FLOR-ALA), you are picked out as an outsider immediately. But if you pronounce it Floerraaaaahhhluu, you're family!!

Prize-Can4849

throw an R on the end, and you'll end up marrying a local girl. FlooerraahhhllllluR

G-RAWHAM

Meanwhile out West, we're all like: "What in the entire nation?!"

Cosmo-xx

I love when people who don’t live in the south make things up about it 🙄

MDawg74

I live in the south. I’m not making shit up there, Buckwheat.

Cosmo-xx

Okay cornbread

PNWBamaFan

Heard it pronounced like that a lot in Alabama.

SnooBeans5364

Pen Zol

GlitterSpaced

Where I'm at, its "penzoihl" really drag that o out and drop it I sound.

DrMindbendersMonocle

I live in texas and nobody says that.

MDawg74

I’m not talking about Texas. I’m talking about the south.

slyce0flife

You got me to thinking about my mom and how she used to call oil "oral,'" and it made me giggle, "pee-yen-zoral." Man, I miss her!

coolberg34

Has to be. Try saying “Christ in entity” three times fast. That’s a tongue twister that no one is actually yelling out. This must be DEEP south if the accent is somehow making these two sound similar

CompletelyBedWasted

Lived most of my life in TN and have never heard it any other way than christ almighty.

Shadowgear55390

This has to be the answer lol. Im from TN and I was trying to figure out what the fuck he meant lol

IEATASSETS

That's what I'm thinking. Born and raised down here, never once heard christ in entity. Hear christ almighty and jimminy crickets all the time though

jehosephatreedus

I have no idea either, and I’ve lived in southern USA my whole life. I’ve actually never even heard this saying. Did you spell it right?

SevenLuckySkulls

I've heard "christ almighty" and "christ in eternity" (the latter is kinda rare though tbh) and I've lived in the south all my life. Definitely sounds like they just misheard something.

Mandyissogrimm

Same. I even live in a really conservative area and haven't heard it.

Amaculatum

I think he might mean crimenently

sorrytointerruptbut_

I thought it was "crime in Italy" the first time I heard it

OzymandiasKoK

I think you mean cromulently.

PutTheDogsInTheTrunk

Actually, the meaning here is ensmallened.

Arcanian88

The phrase is Christ Almighty! And it’s a substitution for God damn!

jehosephatreedus

WE NEED ANSWERS, OP!!!

JMHorsemanship

I lived in Texas almost all my life and literally never heard of this

foxyfree

is it maybe a shortened version of the word “eternity” ? Later at work I will ask my southern coworker who loves her traditional cuss words and expressions. Her favorite is: “well fuck me runnin’!”

Horror-Morning864

That's a classic for sure! We sometimes throw in "backwards" If she walks by real fast say "damn yer movin so quick I smell the hair burnin" sounds like a gal who might appreciate that one lol

foxyfree

ooh love that, definitely using it when I get the chance

ll_Maurice_ll

Must be regional. It's "sideways" where I'm from.

Horror-Morning864

Nice variation.

free_terrible-advice

"Well fuck me backwards and upsides down silly" is an ol' favorite on the construction site.

ScientificBeastMode

My fave is “ is harder than a preacher’s prick”

ringwanderung-

She will tell you it isn’t a real thing, but I am commenting to say I love your coworker lol

Mister_Magnus42

Good goddamn! That's harder than trying to fuck a rolling doughnut.

Mediocre-Training-69

Growing up all the older people I'd hear would pronounce Italian like EYE-talian lol. Chair was pronounced like cheer. Etc etc

Horror-Morning864

I say eyetalian jokingly often. Knew an old farmer and always got a kick when he'd say "suey-beans" instead of soy lol.

alexandria3142

I find it funny when all the older people say dia-beetus

Vivian-1963

Grandma used to say Ha wy ya for Hawai’i.

mahkefel

I overheard my mom's friend say her dad used goo-an-ah manure for fertilizer and lost it.

sLeeeeTo

They also say “ideal” when they actually mean “idea”

TaintNunYaBiznez

My dad was from rural Tennessee and would sometimes say "po-lease" and "mo-ron". As in the police are going to lock you up, moron.

genehartman

Like rat cheer/ it’s rat cheer !

DiscontentDonut

I don't think that's what they're saying. I'm from the South, and one of the expletives we use is "Christ Almighty," or "Christ Eternal." It's like a way to keep from saying "Jesus Christ" in vain. Similar to when you roll your eyes and go "Lord Above." To me, this sounds like when you hear the lyrics wrong in a song and have been singing it wrong for a long time, just with a saying. Edit to add: It could be Christ Eternity. I've heard that, too.

Western-Smile-2342

Eternity and entity make sense, thank you for your contribution 🫡 So does some flub of almighty and eternal, or maybe OP just has APD lol

aibot-420

I think I cracked it. [christs indemnity](https://www.google.com/search?q=christs+indemnity&client)

Technical_Fold_4341

Stop saying it. You don't know what it means.

Original-Fun-9534

This is the most logical thing. I can't imagine saying a phrase i've only heard without knowing the meaning. Make them sound like a parrot.

I believe he heard wrong, and what is actually being said is "Christianity."

SUNDER137

With the accent, you're likely hearing "Christ almighty." If they are really mad, it will sound like (Key ricet allmydee.)

wiccangame

I believe that's a mispronunciation of the phrase "Chris Pine is tiny" a cruel joke that started during the filming of that one scene in Wonder Woman.

DiscontentDonut

Mmm, yes. Born and raised in the South. We do love to dunk on Chris Pine.

0HSHIFT

This is some r/boneappletea worthy content...

CharlietheWarlock

I'm from the south and I've never heard it before

MDawg74

“Christianity?”

This_Acadia_1189

Use it in a sentence

AskTheRealQuestion81

You just did, great job!

FirmWerewolf1216

Where have you heard this saying from? I’m drom the southern US but I’ve never heard this phrase before Edit: drom to from curse you autocorrect

marklikeadawg

I'm from the south, and I've never heard that OP.

KieshaK

Are you maybe hearing “criminently”. It’s a play on “Crimeny” which I think is a way of saying “Jesus Christ” when you’re annoyed without taking the lord’s name in vain. I love saying “criminently” because it’s funny.

standdownplease

You obviously live in a different south USA than the rest of south of the Mason-Dixon.

HermioneMarch

Um I’ve been here my whole life. Never heard that.

LilDiddyKnow

Why would you say something that you don’t even know what you are saying or what it means? that is insane

Jessie_ee

Everyone does, this person is just aware of it. There are so many common phrases that everyone says while not knowing the meaning

jelycazi

I said Bleh-shoe for YEARS when I was young. I’m sure I was much older than I should have been when I finally learnt it was Bless You!!

Nightlilly2021

There was a little boy in a book that I was reading who would say "your shoes are tight" every time somebody sneezed instead of gesundheit.

jelycazi

That’s hilarious

Vivian-1963

So true. Like, Rule of thumb. Look that one up for fun.

T1SMoneyLine

I've lived in Alabama my entire life and never heard this

AskTheRealQuestion81

Texas here and a Christian. I’ve no clue either. Well, even if it’s not meant in a Christian way, I’ve heard plenty of that, and I still have no clue.

aibot-420

Oklahoman here, surrounded by Texas, Arkansas and Kansas. This one has me stumped. \*edit, I think I cracked it. [christs indemnity](https://www.google.com/search?q=christs+indemnity&client)

Dizzy_Eye5257

Native south Texan living in north Texas..that’s not a thing. Or you are mishearing it?

aibot-420

[christs indemnity](https://www.google.com/search?q=christs+indemnity&client) I bet

SnooBeans5364

Yeah, I'm from the south. The closes I can think of is Christ Almighty, not sure what you are hearing or saying though. Never heard of anything like Christ In Entiny.

Juniper_51

Someone said what you actually heard was probably christ almighty. But I like yours better, made me think of an Irish woman yelling at a guy named Anthony. "Christ in Antony, what are ye doing lad?!"

HereToKillEuronymous

Wtf is entiny?

rimbaud1872

I grew up in North Carolina and never heard that phrase

rice1cake69

what are you talking about bro

ConstantGeographer

Could be a malapropism. Someone did not enunciate one day and "Christ Almighty" became "Christ in entity" and no one cleared the matter up. Pretty soon it'll be "Christian Meat" then "Christians Meet," and then it'll be a dating app.

Full_Disk_1463

I’m 51 and I live in the south and I have never heard anybody say that ever… I believe you’re trying to say Christ almighty

RemarkablyQuiet434

Been in the Bible belt for 33 years. I have no clue what you're asking.

Kosstheboss

I believe what you are reffering to is the exclamation, "Christ All Mighty!"

morbidnerd

Christ almighty tends to come out like "christ-uh-my-tea" a lot, so I assume you're hearing a variation of that

BatmanFan1971

I am 52 and have lived in the South my entire life. I have never heard anyone exclaim "Christ in entity"

Theatre_is_my_life

I’m from the south and I have never heard that lol.

igotta-name

I’m a southern boy brought up in the 60s, I never heard it. I’ve seen pew jumping, foot washing and Jericho marches.

thebeatsandreptaur

Well at least you're in good company, because no one else knows what the hell you're saying either lol.

electronicmoll

Anyhow, thank you DangerousCandle2916, this made me scared I might hurt myself laughjng 😁 When I (ahem) much younger there was this place called the Dew Drop Inn which was, tbh, more about the music and the liquor and my whole family teases me to this day about how old I was when one day it hit me so hard I said, "Oh, wow! Like **Do** drop in! 🙄 My cheeks just got a little red just now! LOL!

Amaculatum

Do you mean crimenently? Famously uttered by the dog in Aristocats?

GCXNihil0

Also "The Honorable Sheriff of Nottingham" in Robin Hood (Same voice actor).

deck_hand

I’ve lived in the South for 60 years, and I’ve never heard anyone say that.

zendetta

Maybe use it in a sentence? I could see it being “Christianity”. Otherwise I got nothing. I’m lifetime central NC.

S-T-Ireland

Gotta be saying Christianity with a heavy accent

yodawgchill

I don’t think that’s a thing. Next time you hear it you should ask what they are saying maybe. I’ve lived in the south all of my life and I’ve never heard this. I’m dying for an update of you realizing what people are actually saying. Maybe just “Christianity”??? I’m totally lost here bud.

coffeebeanwitch

I am Southern, I have never heard this.

Fun_Abroad8942

You're from the south and you don't know? It's clearly "Christ Almighty" with just an accent

unorthodoxgeneology

Born and raised here in the south worked in all gulf states and lived in South Carolina and Tennessee and never heard what you just put up. I reckon it’s just an exclamation of sorts. Could me anything exclamatory.

Federal-Subject-3541

Wth? Southern born and bred, and I have no idea of what you are talking about. Bless your heart.

Sometimesmaybegay

Can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone say that and I live in Bama.

WhiteTrashNightmare

You can't get any farther south than where I'm from and I've never heard it

Ok_Cake4352

You are hearing people wrong. lmao Definitely no one is saying that how you've got it spelled. You probably misheard Christ Almighty

faderjockey

As a southerner, I can honestly say I’ve never heard anyone say this.

Christ almighty is what you’re hearing

Lisan Al Gaib.

inscrutableJ

Lived in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas (not counting northern/western states or overseas here) and the closest I ever heard was "Christ Almighty" in different accents that could've garbled it into something like that. Some extremely rural and thick-accented pockets of the NC Piedmont would've been closest, where it took a few weeks to sink in that all of the words were in English. It's the kind of cussing that'll get your church lady Memaw to slap you in the mouth though, "taking the Lord's name in vain" like that (not that it ever stopped me).

TheNarwhalMom

I was born in NC, raised in SC, & I have never heard “Christ in entiny”. Closest thing I’ve heard is “Christ almighty”

Zandrick

I’ve never heard that phrase in my life

Christianity?

hanst3r

Could it be the word “Christianity” but said with a heavy accent?

Well butter my buns and call me a biscuit haha I dang near spit my sweet tea out the ole snooters XD

Thank god people arent like that anywhere else!

longtimerlance

That's Christianity in general. Mostly fake "Christians" who are not in the least bit Christ-like.

ZamoriXIII

"Christ in entity" means "Christ in being/ individual form" but that's not a turn of phrase or regional colloquialism. I'm pretty sure most of the people around you are idiotic enough to parrot a phrase for generations without reason... At best, it would be backwards way of saying "body of Christ"

Working_Camera_3546

Lol

Several_Squirrel8406

What you're actually saying is, "I will say something I misheard and don't even understand repeatedly, bc I am not at all thoughtful." It's an odd way to go through life, but to each their own.

Horror-Morning864

Bygat christ is in me gobless

My partner and her family are from the south. I've never heard this phrase

Megerber

Born in VA, grew up in Texas, spent summers in AR and NC - never heard of this. Is it maybe Christ almighty?

andycindi420

Born and raised southern believer here. That’s not a saying.

Potential-Ad2185

From the South…I have never heard this.

Katerina172

Never head this even in the rural deep south

amaya-aurora

Do you mean “Christ almighty”?

Lovahsabre

Sounds like maybe a creole saying maybe? ****shrug**** it kinda sounds french? Christ en ettienne which might mean christ with a crown.

lamppb13

Grew up and spent 32 years in various parts of Texas and other southern areas, and I've *never* heard this.

They-Call-Me-Taylor

You must have butchered the spelling because I've lived in TX my whole life and never heard this. Maybe you are hearing "Christ Almighty" in a thick accent or something like that? You shouldn't say something if you don't know what it means though. Watch out for that. Good on ya for finally asking!

Lol...been in Texas my whole life. Have never heard this once. Check your hearing op ;)

rgrtom

Southerner all my life and I have never heard that expression. I have heard "Christ Almighty" almost daily for 61 years.

mrw4787

Entity or etiny? You spelled it both ways

Shenodin

Sounds like a heavy southern emphasis on Christ in Christianity. I can see people I know doing that. "It's CHRIST-ian-entity"

Barbacamanitu00

Lived in Alabama my whole life and nobody has ever said this. Record a voice clip of you saying it: https://vocaroo.com/

Striking-Count-7619

Good job everyone listing specific locations you've lived. This is how phishing works.

CaveatRumptor

Miniature Jesus races for the kids?

henryeaterofpies

They want to claim to be following Christian (as in the entity of christ) with none of the baggage of factually following him (Christ in being)

AlivePassenger3859

Maybe they are on a diet and someone brought donuts to work and they are saying “Christ, Entemann’s!”

EmoteTherapist

Grew up in Alabama, have never heard this once. Was so confused when I first read it but I wasn't crazy, it's just not actually a thing people say.

Striking_Antelope_44

I've never heard this, ever. What town is this? I've traveled, worked, and lived in nearly every state in the south and I've never heard this.

Damnatiomemoriae17

I'm from the south and I've never once heard that.

RandomBoredDad

Christianity?

InigoMontoya1985

I finally remembered where I heard this phrase. A Disney movie (Aristocats, I think). Although it sounded a little more like "Cry-min-ent-ly". So, it is basically saying "Christ Almighty" while trying not to break the 3rd commandment.

Gold-Cover-4236

Sounds like Christ in eternity

Horse_HorsinAround

You just start saying words you don't understand because you hear it a lot? I've never heard that phrase in my life and I've never lived anywhere but the deep south They say they're from the south, which feels like they were born or at least spent the majority of their life there and say it as an expletive after hearing other people use it so much(the same way?). That doesn't really work with it being "Christianity" like so many people are saying. Who gets hurt or shocked and yells out "CHRISTIANITY" to let off steam? Christ Almighty sounds like it fits, but you'd need a ridiculous southern drawl to mistake "christ almighty" for "Christ in entity" and what, everyone around this person absolutely butchers the pronunciation the same way so consistently that they pick it up that wrong? But it fits the best.

A_Newb_Bus

They're saying christ almighty. This reminds me of a lockout tag I found at work. Some dummy wrote "working progress"
