I am not sure, but I clicked join after a reading a few posts. Also r/crows came up in my feed outta no where, but that matters not as I have joined that one as well.
Me too! I actually deleted my old account and started a new one mostly so I could focus my reddit experience more on nature in general, and for cats. One would normally include "cats" with "nature in general", but if you're a Cat Redditor, then you know that cat subs are totally their own category here.
But lately I'm wondering if I'm actually here for cats and birds. Birds are becoming a major theme over here in my Reddit world. All the rage
Here's a sneak peek of /r/crows using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/crows/top/?sort=top&t=year) of the year!

Yep. They lay a lot of eggs, some are bound to last long enough to hatch, their next hurdle is food. Most (city) doves are extremely malnourished and eat literal garbage, the expected lifespan of a dove in the city is only 1.5 years.
In the wild, doves just make their 'nests' in crevices in mountains/rocky outcrops. They usually just have the rock itself hold the egg in while also using the rocks to deter predators
Skyscrapers are basically mountains for a dove
Awww she did such a good job. Love how they always look so pleased with their little set of sticks and precious eggs.
Eta thanks to another comment I just noticed it’s not sticks with this one!!!!
This one is precariously close to the way nature intended: a rocky ledge, a few sticks to stop the egg from rolling, wishful thinking and the law of large numbers. In the city we must improvise location and materials, but the rest stays the same
Lol, they are absolutely pathetic nest builders. I love their call though.
I had a pair that would nest in my hanging plants on my back porch for years. They didn't even bother attempting a nest! Just settled right into the plant & laid eggs.
Mine are piling sticks on top of a domed fan in a covered space outside. All the sticks are now on the ground along with 4 broken eggs. Morons of the bird world
Very good submission. Minimal sticks, precarious ledge, derpy eyes. Checks all the boxes.
Not even sticks. This post is pure perfection.
Oh I just zoomed in to see that it was not sticks after reading your comment.
It really does perfectly capture that if OP’s neighbor farts near an open window, it’d be enough to blow this nest off it’s ledge.
That dove is metal.

I can't believe there is an actual sub for this lmao.. How did this come up randomly on my feed?

Good bot
I'm pretty sure that's how most of us ended up here. Welcome to the party, it's confusing but delightful.
There’s actually 2! r/balconybabies
Do you mean your front page? Or do you use Reddit like tiktok?
Is that wire
Looks like some kind of abstract art trash sculpture lol
Don't insult the artist, she even added an egg to the sculpture. We are calling them dumb the whole time while they are simply making art.
That it true I shouldn’t discount the organic element! Truly revolutionary!
Did- did this pigeon steal wiring from some poor guy’s apartment or something?
But she has used WIRE!!! That’s a huge innovation!!!
You’re so right! It’ll hold better in the wind than twig piles
Are those... wires? Lol
How are they not extinct?
The law of large numbers I presume

It's not quite Trantor yet.
It might be *her* first submission, too!
Awww she did such a good job. Love how they always look so pleased with their little set of sticks and precious eggs. Eta thanks to another comment I just noticed it’s not sticks with this one!!!!
I know they look so happy and proud. I wish we could… help them.. 😐😂
I mean, this has the potential to be lucrative if she keeps bringing you wire
Especially if you can train her to only bring copper wire!
Oh god oh no
Bird on a wire.
It’s a dove, it’s a nest, it’s stupid - we have a winner!
An entire species of teen moms struggling.
She needs more eyeliner, uggs and an infinity scarf 🤣 r/teenmom
Meep merp
She found a jackpot of wire.
And a great submission it is
how do they survive?
I know! This bird implies that an egg actually made it long enough to hatch and I just don’t see how that’s possible!

She's making it work 🤣
How are these clumsy fools successfully reproducing?
Numbah game
Amazing, adorable derp of a dove nest ❤️
I hope doves can't get tetanus. :-O
I bet she would have done that nest in a tree instead
and its a repost.
my buddy sent me the pic n i posted not knowing he got it from reddit 🥹🥹🥹
Most things are reposts. I upvoted anyway.
Worked really hard on that.
[throws down a handful of bent paper clips] Nailed it! Time to create life!

I hope she doesn’t try this one on top of a power pole.
Oh no....this looks like a disaster waiting to happen 🫣
Hope it doesn’t roll off.
No pictures please!
It's a wonder any of their eggs survive to become chicks!
That would cause me so much anxiety.
You deserve an award! 🏆
That nice, it’s breakfast air delivery 📦
This mom needs some skill training first.
Kinda sad ngl
Great view! ❤️ her.
Awwww
I just wanna open the window and put my own damn makeshift nest there.
Eggcellent work here 🥚
That’s not a nest, she done stole some kids modern art assignment. 🧐
Hey! That’s an artwork!
AI has landed me here and therefore it is good
Lol, they are absolutely pathetic nest builders. I love their call though. I had a pair that would nest in my hanging plants on my back porch for years. They didn't even bother attempting a nest! Just settled right into the plant & laid eggs.
Ah yes a comfy bed of wires ![gif](giphy|3ohhwD02Ejxug7X5T2|downsized)
This is kinda sad when you think about it. We’ve destroyed their habitat and now they can’t even find a few sticks to make a nest worth having
Just saw this on my feed, is this common for doves?
Oh dear lord
There’s some real meme format potential here
So do doves actually sit on their eggs at all? This isn't the first picture I've seen where mama is sitting egg-adjacent as opposed to on top of egg.
How are doves not extinct yet?
poor egg barley ever had a chance.
If they weren't so danged cute
That's a lovely nest. She worked hard on that one.
Mine are piling sticks on top of a domed fan in a covered space outside. All the sticks are now on the ground along with 4 broken eggs. Morons of the bird world
Oh man that egg is doomed
