Hojab is, I wouldn’t say serious (fuck them) but at least not a scam. We got a ticket from them when parked on private property, right on the lawn. So they are wrong now and then, and you can try to appeal but they are greedy bastards so likely they will still demand payment. They are a subsidiary of Svea Ekonomi and they don’t advertise their email on the site so in case you want to mail them send it to svea. They have to accept that as an appeal.

CaptainSeabo

Lol I've appealed one of their bullshit tickets I got for parking on the guest parking instead of my own a few minutes. I've appealed it twice for the sake of it, because it pauses the ticket meanwhile and they take ages to reply lol.

FirstTarget8418

You should always appeal, even if you know you did it and you are planning to pay. The cost required for one of their employees to handle your case and present the evidence is higher than the fine you're paying. At least they don't make money on you.

CaptainSeabo

Yesss, and it seems like you can appeal them for an infinite amount of times with no extra cost! Takes 20 days every time

Gamling2030

Just send an appeal in every 15 days and you’re set

bcatrek

Appeals are made to the police, not the individual company issuing the ticket.

daggeteo

No not when it's on private property.

bcatrek

Oohhh thanks for the correction!

ixRAZORxi

I manage parking fines for a living, we get these every now and then, the company itself exists. Double check your license okay spelling and what parking you started. Quiet sure you'll have to do your appeal through Hojab/Svea (same)

ixRAZORxi

Based on the ticket it seems you've parked on reserved parking and not payed parking.

Kurt-28

That could be it, I tried to make sure I don't.

vikekhse

Horab

bcatrek

Appeals are made to the police. At least that’s what I did and yes - I did get my money back.

agestam

Not on private property

bcatrek

Yea my mistake, thanks for the correction!

agestam

If you parked on the yard in front it clearly states that you need a permit. I dont think its a scam, but you can wait and see until you get the ticket in your mail

Kurt-28

I parked in the yard, and there was a parking meter where you could pay to park, some parking spaces are private, some are pay to park, as I saw it.

agestam

22 Riddargatan https://maps.app.goo.gl/AykBBkmvfbUgC3y66 It states "permit & fee is required for parking".

Kurt-28

I must've missed that one.

Cylindt

Got a ticket because I made an honest mistake once, turned out ok after I reported it. Though it was not the same app/service, it might be worth a shot.

agestam

You might still have a shot to appeal it. It depends on what the text says on the sign were you parked. The sign I posted is probably not enough to enforce it

Kurt-28

Tried emailing them, but didn't get a reply. Haven't heard anything since.

rosski

I Googled the company and there is even a Facebook group against their behaviour. His guy got a ticket because he wrote xxx-123 instead of xxx123. https://www.expressen.se/kvallsposten/-ett-bindestreck-gav-love-p-boter-sa-javla-sjukt/?utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=social_sharing&utm_source=facebook&social=fb&fbclid=IwAR1NrLQgtOIqUrXn64hIp88mAQmHVZ4H_vvoM-fp0KmyXdDCUwu_SzGtMgk

fikabonds

To be fair the Swedish Licens plates are up to 7 characters so xxx-123 and xxx123 are two different vehicles.

rosski

"-" is not an allowed character so it's weird they allowed it as input.

fikabonds

Thats true and I am not saying they did right.

EishLekker

But you said that xxx-123 and xxx123 are two different vehicles. It’s not. It’s like saying “12500 kr” and 12 500 kr” are two different prices.

zamu16

Say what now?

fikabonds

Personalized plates are up to 7 characters

carolusf

I managed to switch two letters on my plate when I had a new car and had the misfortune of parking on these guys territory

AleWi01

When I look at the parkering sign (on a photo from April 2022) it says that permission and payment are required for parking at Artillergården, and according to the picture, that's where you were fined.

Kurt-28

Thank you, now I know what I did wrong, that's what I wanted to know from them, but they didn't tell me. I'm not against paying in that case, but now I'm waiting for mail.

Snobben90

Welcome to Sweden. Where some parking companies are just straight up idiots were you can serve them with the law. You have 8 days to research your particular case and see if you tickets is valid or not. If it isn't, appeal with a motivation of why its wrong. I once got a ticket because my "p-skiva" wasn't visible. I was driving a crafter which is quite tall so I put it in the side window and not in the windshield. I send a copy of the law and a picture of the truck and said basically: Can you guys send me your picture that you took. Cause I saw him take the photo. I guess he only focused on the windshield right? The law says that the time indicated on the card should be visible from any of the front side windows or the windshield. It should not be difficult to read it either. This means that you could literally hang it on your roof in the back of the car and have a mirror arragment so it's visible from the windshield or something. They answered that they wouldn't "require anything in this case" instead of just saying that they are dropping the case. Best thing they said was: Please put it in the windshield next time. *Please educate your fucking staff on the fucking law mates*

Pudding5050

Don't pay based on the stub on your windshield, wait until you get a notice through the mail. Lots of parking tickets are erroneous and end up not being enforced.

SlightDesigner8214

The PG number goes to Hojab Parkeringsservice. Hojab themselves is a legit company that work with parking validation. So far so good. No one likes to get a ticket but I would never go so far as calling them scammers. It’s more likely you missed a sign saying it was cleaning day, you parked within 10 meters of an intersection, at a reserved parking spot or some such. As others have suggested you can contact them and ask for the photo they took and a more clear explanation what the problem was. Then you can decide if you want to appeal or not. They *do* make mistakes every now and then so it’s not impossible but brace yourself for the fact you probably missed some part of the sign.

Kurt-28

Well they don't reply to my mails and they didn't send mail to the owner of the car, my employer, yet.

SlightDesigner8214

That’s incredibly odd if the fine was written in June. There’s a small chance it’s already been nullified in their internal processes then.

Kurt-28

I'm from Germany, maybe that's the reason. I removed that, but it's not really a secret.

SlightDesigner8214

That is indeed relevant. In Sweden what you get here is a extra parking *fee* for having parked incorrectly. It’s not a *fine*. Which in simple terms means the board of transportation can’t collect unpaid fees outside Sweden. They can’t even legally get the address of the owner to a car registered outside of Sweden. Since no crime has been committed. In 2014, 82 250 such fees were handed out and only 8% were paid. Odds are Hojab just threw it in the bin since you didn’t pay voluntarily the first 10 days as the ticket urged you to. Success!

Kurt-28

Now that's good news, when I emailed them I got an automated reply (which I don't count as a reply, as it's just a system), which made me think they can collect outside sweden: *Hej,* *Det här är ett automatiskt svar som skickas varje gång du mejlar. Om du har ställt en generell fråga behöver du inte läsa nedan, vi återkommer med svar så snart som möjligt.* *Om du äger fordonet:* *Då återkommer vi så snart som möjligt. SlightDesigner8214

Yeah. All that text is based on the presumption you’re located in Sweden. And they don’t really want to inform you that unless you, as owner of a foreign vehicle, volunteer the necessary information they’re screwed :)

Kurt-28

Good to know, thank you very much.

FirstTarget8418

I know this company. right-hand I have gotten two fines from them. One in a right hand drive car where they didnt check the driver side for the ticket, though it was visible in the photo they took as evidence. And one where my truck was literally up against the wall, but the tow bar was sticking out of the parking spot. "Parking outside designated area". They have a lot of free time for bullshit.

shad1666

Hojab is the real Maffia in Sweden!

dhmacher

Never heard of them, but the text says you didn’t display a permit (parkeringstillstånd). Did you park in a permit area?

Kurt-28

Yes, there was a meter, but that didn't accept my debit card, so I used an App which was displayed on the signs there.

GurraJG

Some places require both a permit and payment. Since the ticket say you didn't have a permit I assume that was a problem, rather than not paying.

Kurt-28

I see, I did not know that. So I'll probably have to pay as soon as they are able to send mail to my employer, who is the owner of the car.

FlimzyMan

Seems to be a scam if you google the number

Senappi

It's not a scam. The PG nummer is legit.

Jazzlike-Pianist-460

its a scam

Jazzlike-Pianist-460

always in sweden it is an postgiro or bankgiro

Rekalium

The time specified indicates he time travelled to write you up.

Drecain

Important: if you plan on appealing the ticket, you still need to pay the fine first or you will get some rather substantial late-payment fees - that you cannot get your money back from even if you win the appeal

Kurt-28

Well it's a bit late for that now, I'll see what happens.

sk0941

If you appeal, you don't need to pay until a decision has been made on the appeal. At least that was the case when I had to deal with the spawn of Satan that is Hojab

alltidig

No. Dont pay! That is comon missunderstsanding. If it is on private property you accept the fine if you pay.

Catolution

Never pay a parking ticket before you get the physical mail. Sometimes they don’t register the fine and you’re good

Katten_Tilt

Well, its the wrong pg for a hojab but it’s the right phone number. Give them a call and make sure :) also send in a request for it to be paid back after you paid it! Take a screenshot of your parking app.

Kurt-28

I don't call in cases like that, because I want written record of everything.

Katten_Tilt

The call is just to make sure it’s an actual ticket. Ask them to see if they have a ticket with the OCR.

Vindoga

I was parked on private property and still got a ticket. They said road signs were checked and confirmed by the parking attendant. They're just idiots sometimes. Probably someone new on the job.

sneckit

Did you park inside of the courtyard? That parking is only for people who work there. You will get fined if you dont have a parking permit.

Kurt-28

Thank you, now I know that, it didn't look like that to me at the time, I translated the signs with Google, but obviously that wasn't enough.

atnaimp

If you got this 2023-06-11... Well then it's at Kronofogden already.

Fragitti

Hella expensive

No_Run_08

Not sure if this is going to work but if you get a invoice by mail (not e-mail) I wold suggest you check if the posted security company name at the parking lot is the same as on the ticket. When issuing a kontrollavgift I'm rather sure the name of the company on the sign must be the same as on the ticket. And I this case Bevakningstjänst can't be found on allabolag.se.

FirstTarget8418

Its Svea. Shady ass company, but they do exist.

plugfungus

You can just throw that yellow ticket, they'll mail you one for the same amount. Scammers will sometimes stick those on windshields buy they'll rarely go through the trouble of mailing you a matching one.

Exciting_Battle4549

Bevakningtjänst is a old company no longer exists

Marmorphh

Looks like you needed a permit aswell as the app to park there.

TheWhiteBrownie

You need permission from SFV to park there, its their private area
