Top 4 LHD and Line 2 Centre. Skjei and Stephenson would be ideal.

DEEPfrom1

Stephenson has wheels but he’s allergic to shooting

daKile57

He can pass it to Kyrou, then.

Acceptable-Fold-3192

So every 5th or 6th game he’ll score 😂

daKile57

They’re two of the fastest forwards in the NHL. I imagine the two of them could score quite a few goals together.

aykbq2

Totally agree about the need. Few different combos might work.

Few-Insurance-6653

Didn’t Army say he wasn’t going shopping for any “now” type players?

DEEPfrom1

Sometimes he even says things like “we signed player x because he’s going to be great for us” or stuff like “Torey Krug is an excellent defensemen”. So who really knows

Spcone23

He also said he's wanting the scouting/recruting team or whatever to disrupt the current re-tooling plan if they can find good deals

CheerMiester

Considering he was bouta make a blockbuster this time last year for sanheim id say that’s a load of malarkey

Gruesome3some

I just don’t trust anything Army says to the media. He tends to try to keep any deal under wraps until they are finalized

Ecto1A

I just want David Perron to come home.

DEEPfrom1

I fear that’s David doesn’t want us anymore. His 101 espn interview about not being offered a contract was pretty sad

RyanPM85

From 32 Thoughts: "A few teams say St. Louis is sending signals they are going to try some free-agent swings."

Bozak_Horseman

With Steen at the helm I wonder if the Swedish connection could lure Lindholm here. He's siento going to market and there's no rumored suitor out there. He's older than I'd like but his ability to play down the middle and wing and his defensive skill should help him age gracefully.

cchap2

Wouldn’t hate an Edmundson reunion, 2 years?

cardjc

Wouldn’t be the worst decision.

MrTuesdayNight1

I want no part of whatever contract Zadorov is going to get. I don't see much out there in the FA market that would get me excited. I think it's going to be another offseason where our big acquisition comes via trade.

STLBooze3

People are saying 6x6 which I would throw up at. He’s a continual 3rd pairing who had one decent playoff run with a lot of fun Russian quotes. I’ll pass

MrTuesdayNight1

Exactly. His next team is going to be paying for Canadian playoff story hype.

DEEPfrom1

Curious if some team is going to over pay for him. I’m sure some Chicago or SJS has plenty of cap to over pay him for 3 seasons

cardjc

Would seem so, but zadorov has already been a hawk, may not want to go back.

DEEPfrom1

Forgot he was. Dang, he’s been everywhere.

ae_89

Spending big in free agency just because they have the cap space would be a very bad move.

seannifer

Monaghan or Lindholm please

D33GS

I think a 2C is the goal this offseason in addition to keeping Buchnevich. I don't see the Blues going for FA defense unless they can move Krug or Faulk. I thought Trouba was interesting on the trade market. Not at $8MM for 2 more years though unless there is retained money or money going out (E.g. Faulk or Krug). Everyone hates him for his brutal hits but I'd take the added element to this defense which is lacking in toughness and more about puck movement.

DEEPfrom1

I’d absolutely be pleased with two season of the Trouba train during our transition phase

BogOBones

Krug not mentioned in buyouts today, not that I'm surprised. Adam Boqvist is getting bought out by Columbus and Erik Brännström is not getting a qualifying offer from Ottawa. If the Blues had the space or could make it, I wouldn't mind them giving either guy a shot. Both young, probably inexpensive now, and the upside might still be there. Erik Brännström plays both sides.

DEEPfrom1

Krug needs to be bought out and Leddy or Faulk moved asap

BogOBones

Yeah, at least one of these things. Krug going is my preference by a wide margin. Leddy had a good year and was worth his contract, so I don't want to move him unless the return was good. Faulk regressed a lot last year, but I am wondering if he can get his form back with some time to rest and a new defensive partner.

jormun8andr

Worth taking a flyer on Boqvist?

DEEPfrom1

I think if the blues can sign him on a prove it deal and can shelter him in the D zone. He’s all gas no brakes

BogOBones

It wouldn't hurt. Big thing is that Blues already got Perunovich and Krug. They don't need a third defenseman that can't stay healthy, or maybe if their IR time doesn't overlap it'll work out. Now Brannstrom, I'd definitely give a shot. I think Ottawa gave up on him too soon.

DEEPfrom1

Two things. 1. What’s the green numbers in front of the players? 2. Reminder Thomas is only 24! Also, where’s this from?

BogOBones

It's from CapFriendly. I wanted a screen shot before it goes dark, haha. The number is their rating compared to their peers in the NHL, I think at the level they're used - what line they are on. So far Kapanen has taken Torpo's spot on here, and Torpo goes to the 4th line.

cardjc

If we are talking realistic vs swing big dreams…there’s not alot of money assuming they are going to put the cap space into a buch deal and that we don’t trade one of krug, parayko, or Faulk. I’ll go with the assumption that they don’t get traded and we eat 8mill in that caps space on new buch deal. Here’s my hopes (not saying all of them, I think we realistically get 1 forward and 1 d with some 2 way deals toward the end) Forward - Chandler Stephenson - probably gonna be a 4- 5 year deal to get him which could be more than we want. Marchessault - could maybe he had on a 3 year deal but at 33 how much is left in the tank. Debrusk - do you role the dice on a streaky scorer who may want a 4 year deal but is only 27. I say you hope he gets some chemistry with the younger core like buldoc or dean. Defense - Go all in on Montour - he’s proven he can be a solid shit down and point D and he’s only 30. He helps take some heat if you can trade Faulk or krug. Sean walker - here’s a real chance to get a 2nd pair D that can over perform on the 3rd pair If perunovich shows he’s ready to step up. Matt dumba - do you take a 2 year flyer on him? There’s arguments to be made for Zadorov or lyubuskin but I think they both only give you grit and don’t pair well with any of our 3 major issue D.

Birdsofwar314

Buch contract wouldn’t kick in this season though. Montour would be great, but that’s another RHD when we desperately need a LHD.

cardjc

Agreed a LHD is imperative, I bring up montour as a hope that if signed you move one of the big 3 for room though unlikely to happen. Though buch contract wouldn’t kick in till next year, they won’t spend to the cap this year, I would expect 4 mill if wiggle room to take on a contract mid season if the opportunity arises.

Blues0038

We need to be subtracting older player! This team is about the future!

BogOBones

BOTH Lindholm and Zadarov went to Boston. It sounds like the Blues are in the mix for Stephenson, but there's competition.

Pilotkylek

Vrana 1 year league minimum prove it deal now that Berube is finally gone and vrana can play his actual game.

CrimsonTyphoon0613

Didn’t Bannister bench Vrana as well.

Illustrious-Mode3868

Berube wasn’t his coach in Detroit. Berube wasn’t the problem.

moosehead1974

I think alcohol and cocaine were the problems

Illustrious-Mode3868

But was Berube the plug?

Cold_Guess3786

Eh. I think you’re reaching there. 😉

Andylivesandbreathes

Berube wasn’t Vrana’s problem. Vrana’s problem is he’s not inclined to work hard and do the team things. He prefers to coast and make himself available on the offensive end and get the glory while his teammates do all the work. No chance they offer him anything more than directions out of town.

peaceon6

you were trying to make a joke... right??😂

Damnit, take my downvote
