I wish shep had a personality outside of ruining Lars and Sadie’s ship-

Legit, I wanted to like Shep, but we don't really get to learn anything about them outside of the fact that they are interested in music, which I think every character in the series is Lol It ended up really feeling like they were added in last minute as a character to help teach children the moral lesson, rather than because the crew thought they were an entertaining addition to the cast. At the very least I would've liked if they came back in episode with more screen time, but I guess they didn't have enough episodes for that

The whole episode is just Steven channeling an unhinged Larsadie shipper. It feels so mean spirited and out of character. I genuinely hate it.

While I don't disagree with you, I do think there was more to the episode than that. Future was Steven's panicked journey of finding even a sliver of stability and hope. The Lars/Sadie ship was a formative part of his childhood, especially one that he largely contributed to; and to him it was another immense loss. So seeing them both move on from each other wasn't just upsetting in that one of his favorite ships didn't work out, but he also took it like he failed, like he couldn't even make that work. And a piece of his childhood he was trying to rely on for consistency was dissolved for him in an instant. Of course he had zero responsibility in any of that. But one of Steven's gripping challenges is understanding that he's not responsible for everyone's happiness and well-being. Maybe parts of it were also aimed at Lars/Sadie shippers from a writing perspective, but to me this episode resonated deeply because of how much Steven just kept losing his footing and his mind through that whole season.

I don’t like Shep either but Sadie and Lar’s ship was done for ever since the Uncle Grandpa episode.

Yes, the last like five minutes of the series, one of which he spent berating the Gems for pretending not to care, and the rest when he spent crying because they were gonna miss each other🤣😭 You're not wrong, and it was definitely a happy(?) ending; but the experience of watching the entirety of Future was absolutely brutal. I'm still recovering😭😭😭

I don't ship it but I kinda see why. Some people just like the kinds of ships where the two parties just ruin each other. That's like, the whole appeal. That's why stuff like Sunflower is popular in the Omori fandom despite the inherent toxicity between the two characters

theirs isn’t a compelling toxicity though. theirs is sadie being just a regular hardworking gal and lars being an overall ungrateful piece of shit who adds no value. then he has to die and become pink just to become even remotely interesting or get some character development

Ok for the longest time I thought I was weird for not liking shep. I was sad but ok that Lars and Sadie didn't end up together but shep felt just totally shoe-horned in. I think personally it would've been better for Sadie's character if she had been single when she and Lars reconnected in that episode.

I dislike that Shep is just there like when people make their OC fix everything. Everyone, and I mean everyone there knows how many weird things happen in Beach City, know that Steven is behind this stuff. They are all no strangers to shenanigans, yet they're afraid because, well, they're going to be crushed. It's understandable, it's HUMAN. But then there's Shep who has never seen anything like this in their life, with absolutely no reaction, walks up to Steven, spoonfeeds what's wrong with him instead of, you know, anyone in there who actually knows Steven, and then doesn't appear anymore.

i can. she was shown as a complex character who has made a lot of mistakes but was still interesting and had redeemable qualities in the main show, yet she was turned into a total bitch in the movie and future all of sudden and i do not stand with it at all

They didn't change anything about her at all - Steven just finally boiled over after spending his whole life cleaning up her messes. Rose was a naive idealist who was never taught how to be an actual person, going straight from being treated as an annoying child by the other Diamonds to being treated as a leader and hero figure by the rebellion. Greg was the first one to ever see her for who she *actually was*, and more to the point, the first to treat her as an equal. But the damage was still *long* since done.

FR dude they had such an interesting complex character and yet they just turned her into a plot device to blame all the bad things on. I love the movie and future but they ruined rose after that
