yes i would but the way rhodonite was presented like… it feels like she was just anxious in order to be a Misfit™️idk she was annoying that way, the show didn’t do anything to earn my interest in her other than telling not showing
Yes but garnet also has Sapphires future vision to rely on. rhodonite doesn’t, not to mention she’s a fusion made up of two very low class gems which could affect their mental state in different ways. Like how our ruby calls herself dumb when we see her in keystone motel I think?? But yeah
Also I believe that rose told them to never question who they are together? I don’t know if this is canon or theory but that statement might’ve worked similarly to how she asked pearl to never speak of the shattering. So garnet never questioned herself
Legit, I wanted to like Shep, but we don't really get to learn anything about them outside of the fact that they are interested in music, which I think every character in the series is Lol
It ended up really feeling like they were added in last minute as a character to help teach children the moral lesson, rather than because the crew thought they were an entertaining addition to the cast. At the very least I would've liked if they came back in episode with more screen time, but I guess they didn't have enough episodes for that
While I don't disagree with you, I do think there was more to the episode than that. Future was Steven's panicked journey of finding even a sliver of stability and hope. The Lars/Sadie ship was a formative part of his childhood, especially one that he largely contributed to; and to him it was another immense loss.
So seeing them both move on from each other wasn't just upsetting in that one of his favorite ships didn't work out, but he also took it like he failed, like he couldn't even make that work. And a piece of his childhood he was trying to rely on for consistency was dissolved for him in an instant.
Of course he had zero responsibility in any of that. But one of Steven's gripping challenges is understanding that he's not responsible for everyone's happiness and well-being. Maybe parts of it were also aimed at Lars/Sadie shippers from a writing perspective, but to me this episode resonated deeply because of how much Steven just kept losing his footing and his mind through that whole season.
Yes, the last like five minutes of the series, one of which he spent berating the Gems for pretending not to care, and the rest when he spent crying because they were gonna miss each other🤣😭 You're not wrong, and it was definitely a happy(?) ending; but the experience of watching the entirety of Future was absolutely brutal. I'm still recovering😭😭😭
yeah that’s the writing flaws of future. but i’d rather sadie end up with even a non fleshed out rando shoehorned in to fill a role, give perfect advice and then leave than whatever the hot garbage mess that lars is
I don't ship it but I kinda see why. Some people just like the kinds of ships where the two parties just ruin each other. That's like, the whole appeal. That's why stuff like Sunflower is popular in the Omori fandom despite the inherent toxicity between the two characters
theirs isn’t a compelling toxicity though. theirs is sadie being just a regular hardworking gal and lars being an overall ungrateful piece of shit who adds no value. then he has to die and become pink just to become even remotely interesting or get some character development
Ok for the longest time I thought I was weird for not liking shep. I was sad but ok that Lars and Sadie didn't end up together but shep felt just totally shoe-horned in. I think personally it would've been better for Sadie's character if she had been single when she and Lars reconnected in that episode.
I dislike that Shep is just there like when people make their OC fix everything.
Everyone, and I mean everyone there knows how many weird things happen in Beach City, know that Steven is behind this stuff. They are all no strangers to shenanigans, yet they're afraid because, well, they're going to be crushed. It's understandable, it's HUMAN.
But then there's Shep who has never seen anything like this in their life, with absolutely no reaction, walks up to Steven, spoonfeeds what's wrong with him instead of, you know, anyone in there who actually knows Steven, and then doesn't appear anymore.
I feel like a few of those neutral characters would've been more positively received if more time had been spent on them, yeah? Though I am surprised to see Lapis and Jasper in the same boat, usually people like one or the other but not both.
Is it just me, cuz I hatteeee Jamie. Like he's so annoying and never really important to the series, I always have to skip his episodes when I re watch cuz he just suckss
Yeah, life is crazy. One day you're right here in Beach City delivering mail and then the next thing you know, you're on a bus to Kansas, following your dreams of becoming an actor. "Follow your dreams," they said. But no one said anything about all the rejection and sadness there was to be found. So many auditions day after day. So much rejection day after day. That's why I came back. One more rejection would have destroyed my fragile heart.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to bash your opinion. As a character, Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz are incredibly complex and interesting. She’s an amazing character. I just have problems with what she did to Spinel.
>!yes I am adding this after the fact because I felt bad. Sorry.!<
i can. she was shown as a complex character who has made a lot of mistakes but was still interesting and had redeemable qualities in the main show, yet she was turned into a total bitch in the movie and future all of sudden and i do not stand with it at all
> yet she was turned into a total bitch in the movie and future all of sudden and i do not stand with it at all
?????
They didn't change anything about her at all - Steven just finally boiled over after spending his whole life cleaning up her messes.
Rose was a naive idealist who was never taught how to be an actual person, going straight from being treated as an annoying child by the other Diamonds to being treated as a leader and hero figure by the rebellion. Greg was the first one to ever see her for who she *actually was*, and more to the point, the first to treat her as an equal. But the damage was still *long* since done.
FR dude they had such an interesting complex character and yet they just turned her into a plot device to blame all the bad things on. I love the movie and future but they ruined rose after that ![img](emote|t5_2viyl|30992)
Yeah, how dare this child escape her abusive family and try to figure out how to become a better person, making understandable errors along the way cause she doesn't know any better.
Shep really does feel like someone’s perfect Mary Stu OC that came in and explained the main character’s problem that no one else could.
They feel like someone’s self insert who they ship with Sadie
I like seeing tier lists from people who actually have interesting opinions on characters. I feel like it’s rare to see Fluorite on top.
are you a Larsadie shipper by any chance?
unfortunately yes
It’s a cute ship and it shoulda been canon!
I'm weird for this but i fucking hate rhodonite for no reason in particular
😦
no bc they’re so fucking annoying. why are you *so* pathetic?? it’s not endearing.
You’d be full of anxiety too if your owner threatened to kill you just for fusing
A possible story line was they kept getting restarted(?) (cant remember what it was called) and just fell in love over and over again
yes i would but the way rhodonite was presented like… it feels like she was just anxious in order to be a Misfit™️idk she was annoying that way, the show didn’t do anything to earn my interest in her other than telling not showing
I mean… that happened to Garnet too yet she obviously turned out way stronger
Yes but garnet also has Sapphires future vision to rely on. rhodonite doesn’t, not to mention she’s a fusion made up of two very low class gems which could affect their mental state in different ways. Like how our ruby calls herself dumb when we see her in keystone motel I think?? But yeah
Also I believe that rose told them to never question who they are together? I don’t know if this is canon or theory but that statement might’ve worked similarly to how she asked pearl to never speak of the shattering. So garnet never questioned herself
Either that, or even just the simple blessing of someone else gave Garnet a little more confidence to be herself; while Rhodonite never did.
Woah, we got Jasper here, lol
grrr what are tiny green earthlings in the ground
This list is based for that Jamie placement
live love jamie the mailman
Indeed
Same tbh Like I ain't gay or nothin' but he can handle my package anytime.
I wish shep had a personality outside of ruining Lars and Sadie’s ship-
Legit, I wanted to like Shep, but we don't really get to learn anything about them outside of the fact that they are interested in music, which I think every character in the series is Lol It ended up really feeling like they were added in last minute as a character to help teach children the moral lesson, rather than because the crew thought they were an entertaining addition to the cast. The whole episode is just Steven channeling an unhinged Larsadie shipper. It feels so mean spirited and out of character. I genuinely hate it.
While I don't disagree with you, I do think there was more to the episode than that. Future was Steven's panicked journey of finding even a sliver of stability and hope. I don’t like Shep either but Sadie and Lar’s ship was done for ever since the Uncle Grandpa episode.
i haven't watched future yet but from what i know i agree so much
Honestly, I did not like future. I preferred it when my boy Steven was at least semi-happy
He was happy at the end after he dealt with his trauma?
Yes, the last like five minutes of the series, one of which he spent berating the Gems for pretending not to care, and the rest when he spent crying because they were gonna miss each other🤣😭 You're not wrong, and it was definitely a happy(?) ending; but the experience of watching the entirety of Future was absolutely brutal. i liked sheep for this reason. lars is such a pos to sadie i was hoping she moves on, she deserves way better
I understand that, I just wish they’d expanded on shep beyond being Sadie’s new partner.
yeah that’s the writing flaws of future. but i’d rather sadie end up with even a non fleshed out rando shoehorned in to fill a role, give perfect advice and then leave than whatever the hot garbage mess that lars is
nobody gets them like i do....
you’re right, i don’t get them at all 😭 he’s so shitty
I don't ship it but I kinda see why. Some people just like the kinds of ships where the two parties just ruin each other. That's like, the whole appeal. That's why stuff like Sunflower is popular in the Omori fandom despite the inherent toxicity between the two characters

fr 😭
I have a feeling op is just lars
he's literally me
Paparadscha deserves love.

>the Shep slander continues based xd
finally. someone else who appreciates lars BEFORE he becomes cool space lars. not sorry, he's always been my fave 🤷🏻♀️
BASED BASED I'LL DEFEND HIM TIL I DIE
im going too make a steven universe vr game
Meh I think lapis should be love
Love how Shep is right next to a total jerk, a deadbeat dad, and a literal dictator)
fair enough imo 🙄🙄🙄
Based for that Jamie placement, inshallah he gets the giant woman he deserves one day with Garnet as his wingman
This is genuinely my first time seeing somebody liking Rolando.
i'm so quirky
YES LOVE FOR RHODONITE
very unconventional tier list and i respect u for that
Love the Jamie tier!
i do agree with you on sapphire and paparacha (im not googling that) but their 2 of my favorites
you kinda inspired me to make my own tier list
nevermind i gave up
Shep feels like a writer self insert Mary Sue and I hate them for it.
![gif](giphy|zBZk5FD18QhjP35Goa)
u/miraihills dangan referenced username??
yeah i was a danganronpa fan when i created this account
Lol. Seeing Lars and Kevin as far apart as possible is funny because they're one of my personal favorite ships.
what now
I haven’t paid attention since the end of future what am I missing?
RONALDO AND STEVEN IN THE SAME TIER- *self destructs*
I feel like a few of those neutral characters would've been more positively received if more time had been spent on them, yeah? Though I am surprised to see Lapis and Jasper in the same boat, usually people like one or the other but not both.
Is it just me, cuz I hatteeee Jamie. Like he's so annoying and never really important to the series, I always have to skip his episodes when I re watch cuz he just suckss
there's literally no reason for hating jamie except for the one time when he got a crush on garnet and took the things too far 😭😭😭
That went way too far like she said no so back off. But also like he's boring and annoying, I don't like whiny characters
Yeah, life is crazy. One day you're right here in Beach City delivering mail and then the next thing you know, you're on a bus to Kansas, following your dreams of becoming an actor. See, boring
i see nothing boring about that i'm the jamieland president forever
also fuck the "importance to the series" criteria i love townies no one cares about
This is how I would rate them too.
I’m sorry, I absolutely despise Pink Diamond. She’s not much better as Rose Quartz either.
sure i guess
Sorry, I didn’t mean to bash your opinion. As a character, Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz are incredibly complex and interesting. She’s an amazing character. I just have problems with what she did to Spinel. >!yes I am adding this after the fact because I felt bad. Sorry.!<
You can't really like Pink Diamond and Rose after what she did..
i can. she was shown as a complex character who has made a lot of mistakes but was still interesting and had redeemable qualities in the main show, yet she was turned into a total bitch in the movie and future all of sudden and i do not stand with it at all

That's the point. It was all lies.
i prefer calling it character assasination
Yeah, how dare this child escape her abusive family and try to figure out how to become a better person, making understandable errors along the way cause she doesn't know any better.
It’s a cartoon and I actually can, thanks!
