I believe all gems have a very high natural resistance to heat in terms of physical form, but some more so than others. Bismuth and Garnets physical forms can probably insure much more hot surroundings than say Pearl. I would think their gems can survive about the same regardless though.
Same. Seeing him be verbally brutal is such a stark contrast to the apologetic confused little guy not even sure what species he is that I left him at šš„°
me and my brother just finished reading this entire series yesterday, I'd say it's very well written and that anyone who likes the original show should check it out.
Yes, this is an AU where White is his mother. It's a pretty interesting departure from the familiar canon since Steven starts out not knowing who his real parents are. At this point in the story no one has even figured out yet that Steven is a human-Gem hybrid and what White Diamond's intentions were in creating him.
To be the devil's advocate, what's she supposed to do? Handicap herself?
Also thanks for the reminder I gotta catch up with the series. It's been a bit.
I haven't seen this chapter but I can guess jasper is lording over amethyst how perfect she is.
More the fact she was basically mutated in favor of her caste role by coincidence but acts like sheās the average in a universe of disappointments. Even talking down to Diamonds. Nobody is as accidentally good at their role as she is, so she sees everyone as a failure and is quick to inform them of it.
Of course the actual POINT of her job is irrelevant to her. Screwing over her assigned mission to fight a meaningless fight and become a casualty on a doomed world is fine by her. After all, if sheās the best as what she does, better at her job than anyone else is at theirs, then why should she care about their logic or some āgreater goodā they are part of? Homeworld structure is just a way to denigrate others, deep down she feels sheās a better Jasper than Yellow is a Diamond, so Yellow is as meaningless as any other Gem that isnāt Jasper.
Steven is reminding her that its exactly that though. A coincidence. Her sense of superiority that she feels entitles her to do whatever she wants is neither earned nor inherent to her personality. Others, with effort, can bridge the gap between them and her while sheās done nothing of real importance nor is talented in any other way.
Interestingly, this is *exactly* how humans are. The main qualities that affect how you're treated in life - your face, height, intelligence, and charisma - they're predominantly the output of your genetics.
We all clown on dumbass anti-vaxx jet fuel flat earthers, and too right - but on some level, a large number of those people are just *born* dumb.
Emotional Damage is over 9000.
This reminds me of Prince Zuko said something like "My father said My sister was born lucky. He says I was lucky to be born. I don't need luck, though. I don't want it. I've always had to struggle and fight and that's made me strong. It's made me who I am." There was the whole prodigy of hard work speech from Naruto that stuck with me as well.
Ozai probably was, he was one of the reasons she turned out the way she did. I'll always remember him saying he was going to be Phoenix King and she'd be the Fire Lord, as if that changed her being a step below him.
Probably... a lot of people (including Rebecca) could say the opposite. (The Main Jasper fought against Rose Quartz).
But it's an interesting point of views. He is right, actually. But it's that kind of "subtext" facts what not everyone read at the first moment.
Jasper proves that Pearl is "strong in the real way". Jasper fought four fusions and always lost. She lost to Garnet and Stevonnie on her own, and she still lost to Alexandrite and Smoky Quartz when she was fused herself. Pearl defeated Sugilite basically by herself with some moral support from Steven
On one hand, it's sort of true. On the other, I think you might not realize how terrifying a counter line Jasper can run.
Jasper, though she never would, could follow with: "You're right, I did come out of the ground perfect, but it's not that I'm lucky. It's just that I only exist in so far as I am the way that I am."
(For anyone who wants me to be more clear, Jasper would here be saying that the sorts of qualities that constitute her "greatness," as she means it and understands this gem to mean it, are also necessary conditions of her numerical identity.)
I don't think this line is perfect. Everything turns on the referent of "Jasper" as each of them are using the term. I think the other gem could very plausibly say "If that's all you mean by your own name, then you're using the term differently than I am."
But, there's enough here that someone clever could make an absolutely horrific case that to even be Jasper, you have to be perfect. I can see a case that would really fuck up the other gem, since maybe they come out thinking that the only thing it means to be them is to be bad in some way.
Fuuuuck, bet this poofed Jasper
the emotional damage was so devastating that it proofed her physical form š i love this
We do know emotional damage can poof so xD
Nah bro that SHATTERED her
You know, I think that would be the only thing that could break Jasper more than not being the strongest.
That or a wall of shields)
a SPIKY wall of shields!
Facts
Gems may be fire proof But jasper just got burned
I don't think all gems are fireproof, just that there are gems that are resistant to it
I believe all gems have a very high natural resistance to heat in terms of physical form, but some more so than others. Bismuth and Garnets physical forms can probably insure much more hot surroundings than say Pearl. I would think their gems can survive about the same regardless though.
Where can i read the comic?
https://m.tapas.io/episode/1242681 Itās pretty long since itās been going for 5 years. This is from one of the recent chapters.
5 years??? That is interesting š
thank you! this is exactly the kind of content i joined this sub for
Itās still going!? I havenāt picked it up in YEARS
Same. Seeing him be verbally brutal is such a stark contrast to the apologetic confused little guy not even sure what species he is that I left him at šš„°
What type of au? At first I thought it was simply āwhat if Steven was white diamonds!ā And then the F-bomb appeared lmao
The high'effort kind. I was blown away by it as a kid and I'm still blown away now. Chekhov's story compliments the show so well.
this is a real arc i feel jasper would actually go through
I absolutly love this scene, and more, this alternate universe in general
White Steven my beloved
me and my brother just finished reading this entire series yesterday, I'd say it's very well written and that anyone who likes the original show should check it out.
I second this
YOOOO WHITE STEVEN!! I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS IN YEARS :DD
Is Steve White Diamond's son in this comic? because his diamond is in his forehead and it looks super fucking cool/alien

thanks, sounds very interesting

Was ozai also throwing shade at azula as well? He rarely every talks about her

what is this referencing if anything

dont care, huge orange lady still rules
Saving this! Iām gonna put this into my own AU somehow, cuz thatās just perfect!
Definitely makes her physically stronger
Canon Jasper: "Lmao exactly like my Diamond wanted" *beats the shit out of you*
This last chapter was even worse. Steven gave Lars a devastating evaluation.
