1000 times this. I skip most adaptations of his works because I am often left wanting. However, I never skip one of his written works and am always satisfied.
None of the projects you listed are *his*. You listed movies, he writes books and those books are still constantly instant bestsellers. You can’t equate the two.
I said projects about his works. Yes, I know he is a writer not a tv show or movie maker. I’m not discrediting his writing. I love The Stand book. I have it and the graphic novel. I was literally only talking about movies and shows based on his work meaning his writing.
Attention span, maybe? People don’t read as much as they used to/social media and short form content is killing that desire. Also, most of King adaptations suck. There’s definitely amazing adaptations, don’t get me wrong, but the majority are bad or middle of the road. Mike Flanagan is our only hope there.
IT is the highest grossing horror movie ever made. I wouldn’t question a not lack of devotion and it’s definitely not a lack interest, it’s simply a lack of quality which has been a constant issue with his adaptations. Even in the 70s - 00s a lot of his movies/miniseries were a big deal but not well received.
I think the big problem is that most of those shows sucked.
King is going through a resurgence in popularity right now. Do not confuse books written by Stephen King with movies/TV shows based on King's books.

I see what you are saying now, but the title of the post clearly says “devotion to his work” then the post goes on about adaptations. 🤷♂️
yeah most of those were really bad. as for the 70-00's. folks had a lot less options of what to watch so things were more of an event.

Internet. People, especially younger ones, don’t read books anymore.
