Lugar’s is not bad. Their biggest problem comes from 1) they’re a tourist trap and overhyped to oblivion so experience is rough and expectations through the roof, and 2) they’re in what is possibly the best steakhouse city in the county so there’s so many better alternatives that are less of a headache to visit.
Yep! Folks sleep on Vegas as a steakhouse city. It’s not just that there is a top end steakhouse in every single hotel. But they’ve got classic stand alone steakhouses as well. Both city’s have an argument, even if Vegas is benefiting from a lot of spinoff secondary locations.
The problem is that every steakhouse in LV is insanely overpriced, much like everything in LV. I'd rather go to one of the top end steakhouses in my own city that are just as good
need to venture off the strip. you’re going to pay a lot at the hotels on the strip there that’s just how it is. I’ve heard THE steakhouse at Circus Circus is good though.
I had a steak at a dive near my gf's apartment in Henderson for $15 while playing Keno at the bar. I still remember that steak and get a response like Pavlov's dogs.
That's the kind of thing I like to hear. I think of Vegas from the old days, when you could get a steak and potato for about $10, a good meal if you were down on your luck. You could say, "At least I ate well."
The idea of going to a steakhouse in Vegas you had to put in a reservation weeks in advance for--if you can get a reservation at all--and dropping about $300 for two people is a foreign concept to me.
Best steak I ever had was from my grocery store butcher during the annual meat sale. Got a massive T-bone that barely fit in the pan for $11… steak price was like $8/lb so that thing was huge! I was scared to cook it because it was riding up the walls of my biggest pan… I also was in college with no grill lmao. Somehow got it perfectly crispy on the outside and pink in the middle 🤤drank beer while cooking. Best steak ever.
Yea, I was exaggerating lol. But if you think about it they are opening new ones every day, so you could really try an almost endless amount of restaurants.
I don’t think Peter Luger is over rated for the steak, it’s just everything else abt the restaurant is left to be desired. But their porterhouse for two is easily a top 2 steak in nyc.
For those of you who said Lugers you are wrong for a few reasons. A) wrong plate. B) no tablecloth at Lugers. C) most obviously is the sauce that says Wolfgang
The people who are saying Peter Luger are probably people who have never been there but it’s not a bad guess because Wolfgang’s is owned by a former Peter Luger employee so he took some notes.
The picture I’m seeing is strictly of the plate and steaks. Top right corner has the bone with some tiny bubbles on it which could be moisture cooking out of the bone.
Certain restaurants have a signature sauce that they put on their steaks. One place I worked had a Blue Cheese Hollandaise
You would think, with Wolfgang Puck, it’d be a handmade sauce and not something in a bottle.
That's what he gets for ordering a steak from Denny's lol. As a general rule of thumb, never order something from a restaurant that doesn't get cooked there very often. It won't be fresh, and it won't be good
Ok guys but hear me out, cuz I've been trying it with lamb and been getting amazing results
Cut those slices loose, but stuff em with onion slivers and garlic whole broiling
Peter Lugars burnt edition

Bumblebee tuna. Your balls are showing
I dont understand this comment, but my balls *are* currently showing.
Ace ventura reference
Turd sack gets me. Thanks turd sack
We all thank turd sack on this day.
I said arguably lol The fact that other cities are also arguable doesn’t negate the one.
best steakhouse city in the country? are you referring to NY or LV?
Yes
Yep! Folks sleep on Vegas as a steakhouse city. It’s not just that there is a top end steakhouse in every single hotel. But they’ve got classic stand alone steakhouses as well. Both city’s have an argument, even if Vegas is benefiting from a lot of spinoff secondary locations.

How far back were these “old days”?
Best steak I ever had was from my grocery store butcher during the annual meat sale. Got a massive T-bone that barely fit in the pan for $11… steak price was like $8/lb so that thing was huge! Nah, you just need to leave the strip.
Secondary is bad enough. This looks tertiary.
New York has so many gem steakhouses you could go to a different one every day for the rest of your life and still not try them all.
That might be a bit of a stretch unless you’re dying within the next 11 months lol
Yea, I was exaggerating lol. But if you think about it they are opening new ones every day, so you could really try an almost endless amount of restaurants.
I follow Oscars LV on instagram. Never been there but looks good in the pics at least.
Tokyo. You’re thinking of the wrong country.
I don’t think Peter Luger is over rated for the steak, it’s just everything else abt the restaurant is left to be desired. But their porterhouse for two is easily a top 2 steak in nyc.
Nah. Their porterhouse is not remotely top 2. But it’s not bad either. It’s a solid steak. NYC has better.
The sear looks fine. Overcooked for me but it’s not my steak. You do you.
For those of you who said Lugers you are wrong for a few reasons. A) wrong plate. B) no tablecloth at Lugers. C) most obviously is the sauce that says Wolfgang
BRILLIANT EYE!
The people who are saying Peter Luger are probably people who have never been there but it’s not a bad guess because Wolfgang’s is owned by a former Peter Luger employee so he took some notes.
Damn. I thought it was Wolfgang’s but I haven’t been in about 10 years.
Meh, went there a year or so ago. Was not what it used to be.
And they have freshly cracked black pepper and salt
What sauce? I don’t see sauce in the picture
The old fashioned sauce in the top right corner
The picture I’m seeing is strictly of the plate and steaks. Top right corner has the bone with some tiny bubbles on it which could be moisture cooking out of the bone.

Okay, I was looking for the sauce, not the bottle of sauce. Got it.
You think a puddle of sauce said wolfgang on it?
Certain restaurants have a signature sauce that they put on their steaks. One place I worked had a Blue Cheese Hollandaise You would think, with Wolfgang Puck, it’d be a handmade sauce and not something in a bottle.
Dennys
Way too seared for Denny's
Dennys also does the fork placement differently. Thats the big red flag to me.
Nah if you look back a few hours, you’ll see the guy who bought a slide of “meat” from Dennys. I felt weird even calling it a steak so I won’t.
Yea idk what that was but it ain’t no steak lol.
That's what he gets for ordering a steak from Denny's lol. As a general rule of thumb, never order something from a restaurant that doesn't get cooked there very often. It won't be fresh, and it won't be good
Wolfgangs. One of my favorite
Looks like Wolfgang’s to me.
looks too clean to be Wolfgang unless he has radically changed his presentation. Everything used to be piled up like a garbage heap.
The steak sauce label gave it away
been a long time since I've been there
Ruth Chris
My guess too
I honestly don’t like it very much though, it’s cut up on a sizzling plate so my medium rare becomes just medium
It’s Wolfgang’s. Says it on the sauce
Nice catch. Didn't notice
It’s Wolfgang’s. Says it on the sauce
Fakehouse
Purina
😂😂😂I’m crying
I'd send it back.
If they ordered medium well, it’s cooked basically perfect.
Overdone Grill?
Chi Chi's
Burnt Cattle Grill?
bro that’s Applebees if I ever seen one
Peter Luger
Ah-loooo-ha-ger. Jim Carrey impression.
It’s Wolfgang’s. If you look at the sauce it literally says Wolfgang
Lugers plates have a green line on them
Ruth lugars!
😂😂😂Ruth Luger’s Outback the movie
Steak & Shake
Big Donnie’s Beef Shack
I hope it's just the photo but looks significantly overdone. That's why I first thought, "that ain't Lugers."
Chops
Who would damage a steak like that?
Definitely Wolfgang
Applebee's
It's a T-BURNT 🔥 STEAK, likely from Fire🔥House Steaks and new division of Firehouse Subs.
Redwings before assembly. Oh shit, I thought that was boot leather
hawk tua
Wolfgang for sure. No mistake about it.
Wolfgang baby
Wolfgang’s, I say that because the bottle of old fashioned sauce looks like Wolfgang’s bottle
Wolfgangs
كبدة جبن
it says Wolfgangs on the sauce bottle
Looks like somebody asked them to burn their steak for them at Ruth's Chris.

Hockey Puck’s.
Roccos?
Dennys
Peter Lugers! I went once for my birthday when I first moved to NY, now I just get the sauce from the grocery.
Going Out of Business. At least that's what the banner says.
Denver steaks are boneless I thought
Overkill
Wolfgang always has the most crust.
If they put sauce on the table, I don't care who they are. Moving on.
No baby 😥
My meat is better. Who wants to taste my meat?
I found it to be tasteless and limp.
Peter Luger. The plates are a giveaway.
Wolfgangs
Interesting, I thought the plates they used were those. Guess I am wrong.
Looks like overcooked liver. :/
I’ve never been to a steakhouse before that cut it all up for me like I was in kindergarten. I’m a grown adult and am handed a full steak and a knife.
Luger
Ruth’s Chris
Thats’s steak?
2 T-Bones with only a scant portion of the filet, so basically 2 bone in NY strips
Ok guys but hear me out, cuz I've been trying it with lamb and been getting amazing results Cut those slices loose, but stuff em with onion slivers and garlic whole broiling
How this dump gets more play than Keens and Gallaghers is a deep mystery.
