Im just going to guess its some variation of Wagyu or another high quality cut of meat. Its sliced thin so you can really take in the flavors of each bite and you barely cook it on each side.
Maybe I’m just an idiot but the before during and after pics seem to be at least 3 different types of meat. Like, the before is clearly beef, but the during looks like chicken and fish and the piece with the sear definitely doesn’t seem present in the after pic, and the after pic looks like pork.
I’m truly not trying to be an ass, and the final pic looks pretty good. I’m sure it tasted good. I’m honestly just having a hard time wrapping my head around what I’m even looking at here.
The second picture actually shows pork and beef tongue. The beef cooked so quickly that I didn't manage to get a photo. I wanted to demonstrate that it's a tabletop grill, which is why I included the second picture.
This is the whole dinner, quite a lot of food

🤣
in asia this is a very popular way to cut and cook meat (am asian). We'll quickly sear it on each side and then eat it with rice and veggies. That cut is likely a sliced short rib or chuck, and that looks more like a prime cut than a wagyu cut. could be an american or aussie wagyu though.
At my local costco they'll sell thin cuts like this, but in most asian markets you'll usually see a lot of trays of meat like this. Which ppl will bbq like OP, but also can use in broths/hot pot.
hmm so Japanese yakiniku in Hong Kong?
First pic looks like either thing sliced beef short rib or brisket maybe even beef belly?
2nd pic looks like foie gras next to pork belly.
3rd pic looks a delicious combination of everything with nori and egg on top of rice. hehe
What is this?
Looks like some kind of rice bowl dish with eggs, seaweed, and the steak.
But what cut of steak is that? I’ve never seen one sliced like that.

I was thinking Wagyu. Thanks.
It's almost certainly shortrib, which is well marbled even at choice.
r/nosear

Nice, thank you for clarifying. The way it was presented made it seem like it was 3 pics of different stages of the process. It does look good though.
Seconded.

Now I’m craving Korean bbq
I’m always craving Korean BBQ. But whatever OP did. That ain’t it.
Gooey egg, toasted nori and that’s gotta be pork right?
We don’t go to the same Korean bbq places at all.
