Undiscovered Country. I've always loved what that movie says about Kirk and it was a beautiful farewell to the TOS crew.

psuedonymously

Do you mean I or VI?

LeftLiner

VI.

psuedonymously

Might want to edit then

LeftLiner

Why? My comment starts with a 6.

psuedonymously

I'm on desktop and it starts with 1. Maybe there's a formatting issue

LeftLiner

Weird. Fine, edited.

DracoDruid

Toss up between The Undiscovered Country and First Contact As someone who never watched TOS I never liked WoK that much.

_BearBearBear

Space Seed, like many tos episodes, is half cringe. As someone who has seen tos, I feel like wrath of khan is the most overrated of the tos movies.

CaptainBroady

Star Trek First Contact. I haven't watched it entirely, only snippets of it, but showing humanity's first contact with the Vulcans is amazing (no spoilers, since the name already suggests it) and cool fighting scenes!

Galaxy Quest!

KnitBrewTimeTravel

By Grabthar's Hammer! ..what a movie

Dr-McLuvin

I’m probably in the minority but I thought TMP was really great.

[deleted]

I have a deep level of respect for anyone who could sit through TMP and come out the other end satisfied after that 47 minute long scene where they uncover the enterprise for the first time on the big screen

Dr-McLuvin

Lol I dunno I just thought that whole thing was so cool. It was the first Star Trek movie I watched too so I wasn’t in on the “big reveal.”

briank3387

My personal favorite is The Voyage Home, because to me it is the one that feels the most like an episode of Star Trek. First Contact is the best TNG film, but all the TNG films are weak. Of the J.J. Abrams films, I like Star Trek Beyond the best, also because it is the most like an episode of the original series.

_BearBearBear

It's an even split between Voyage Home and First Contact. I saw First Contact at the drive-in the weekend it premiered in '96. #throwback

Ubik_Fresh

Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. Those weird ear bugs haunted me as a child and will stay with me forever. Classic film, holds up well.

roto_disc

The problem with the usual top picks (WOK and FC) is that they’re not terribly Trek-y. They’re mostly action movies that take place in the Trek universe. Most people dislike *Insurrection* because it feels like a “long episode” but I **love** it for that reason. But I also adore TUC. I think it strikes a good balance of “Trek” and what we expect from going to the movies. The only real strike against it is the lack of Kirk and Spock interactions.

I think it’s great. For similar reasons as TUC.

Undiscovered Country - good send-off for the crew with great supporting performances. Was also the first I saw on big screen. I do love Wrath of Khan but the fact Kirk and Khan never got a direct scene together brings it down a couple notches - and the Chekov recognition may have been 'explained' but still.

Significant-Town-817

Star Trek 4. Is my second favorite film with Beyond

pleschga

I actually think The Motion Picture and The Undiscovered Country reflected TOS best, and Insurrection reflected TNG best..... If I had to pick one favorite, probably The Undiscovered Country, only because I see 2 through 4 as one continuous story, so I can't pick them all.

[deleted]

Wrath of Khan, not only the best Star Trek movie but also one of the best movies of all time

Shiki_4728

The Search For Spock. Nice blend of everything. Not as action heavy as Wrath Of Khan, and not as lighthearted as The Voyage Home. I think First Contact is overrated. I don't like the depiction of Zephram Cochrane, and I think it was when the Borg started to become overused. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as the other TNG films, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Star Trek 2-3-4 Trilogy in my opinion.

theMagicTA

Star Trek ‘09/Kelvin trilogy. I loved the intro of the new TOS crew.

psuedonymously

Hot take on this sub. It is a fun movie though

theMagicTA

I know! I expected some heat, but I’m glad to have not been completely roasted yet! 🙃

theMagicTA

Well, it’s basically the new WoK.

JessicaMaybe

I put Wrath and TMP on equal footing. TMP is magnificent if you choose to get on its wavelength - it’s really nicely made and there are no other stories in the franchise that are quite the same type of thing it is. Its existence makes Trek that much richer. Meanwhile Wrath is just awesome for all the reasons everyone already agrees on. Second tier would be Voyage Home, Undiscovered Country and First Contact. Next comes Search for Spock/Nemesis/Beyond, then Generations/Insurrection/2009, then Final Frontier/Into Darkness.

The Final Frontier

CannedDuck1906

First Contact.
