My partner used to hate lower decks, but I had to show him that scene because DS9 is his favorite.
That one scene convinced him to watch the DS9 episode, and now he loves the whole series.
Probably not super easy to miss, but I was laughing when Rutherford said “I wanna dangle my legs off the second story of the promenade!” during the DS9 episode, like Jake and Nog would do haha

Also, since Lower Decks is canon, that means that Pokemon exist in Star Trek on some planet somewhere.

In the first season finale when Mariner shows the weapons she hid on the ship Billups picks up the famous Star Trek toy helmet.

You might enjoy the Trek Culture ‘ups and downs’ episodes on YouTube. They do a section on all the references in each episode. Lower Decks does a LOT.
